Hi, I wanted to come here with other news than "my gpu stopped working".
I've just bought a GPU from aliex... just built an entire new PC build and everything looked up great untill I install amd driver and had black screen forever.
PC used to work with generic driver or in safe mode, but whenever I tried to install a driver it get back to black screen.
So I tried flashing a BIOS. Just don't found the specific, but one that have same specs and tried it.

Occurs that after that my PC stopped booting.

Placed a second GPU card and I'm trying now to solve the problem using both on MB.

At the begining I was having some trouble with SSID, P/N and error loading rom. Now I've found the exactly version o AMDVBFLASH that can find and overwrite the GPU BIOS... but after having the successful message and restarting PC it keeps saying that I have the wrong BIOS at the GPU.
Actually... AMDVBFLASH says it, but GPU-Z shows new one, without some info.

Attached both amdvbflash versions with different info and GPU-Z. (memory was showing on last boot)

I don't know what to do next...

GPU is Veineda RX 5500 XT 8GB

Is there any particular reason as to why you needed to reflash the BIOS? Did you buy it used (mining card), or as "new"? The issue here is that you have a counterfeit graphics card. There's no guarantee that it has an actual 5500 XT chip in it instead of some obscure mobile variant, and if there is one (only way to know is by opening the card and taking pictures of the GPU die and serial code printed next to it), there is still the open issue that you can't solve: you do not know where it was sourced from and what conditions that either the GPU chip itself or the accompanying memory ICs have weathered in the past, because it's a recycled counterfeit.

What's supposed to end cheap turns out to be an expensive headache, you shouldn't buy these no-name "brand" graphics cards from AliExpress, even with the awful prices, just try to stick to something that comes from a licensed brand like ASUS, Gigabyte or Powercolor. Buy used if you have to, it's more reliable than buying these things.

I reflashed It cause no drive used to work, so The GPU was useless...
The description doesn't specify If It was a mining card, but 90% of them are.

For the specs, this card looks a Lot like to 5500W.

I had nowhere to try It and traveled by work, returned after The returning period expired, so I Just can try to fix it, but I'm accepting that I'll need to buy a new one (really new this time).

I know that it's not The best option geting a GPU from this store, but paying something like 100$ for these instead of 250/300 that is Brazil reality... It really means something. Basic earnings here are close to 260$.

And it has a great score and lots of selling. Never heard of a problem with this model before, that makes a Lot difficult to find helo though.

Hope someone comes with tips of what I can try.

Did you make a backup of the bios was previously on the card? Can you make a picture of the PCB and graphics card memory?

It is still different. Dont use an ASRock bios since VRM is different. Your PCB seems to be the same as a AFOX RX 5500 XT.

Please use the -fa switch as well. amdvbflash.exe -p 0 ****.rom -fa -fp

Can you share the backup of the bios? It might help locating a different if the above two bioses are not working.

Thanks for the answer. I tried this one: VGA Bios Collection: Yeston RX 5500 XT 8 GB | TechPowerUp
And I don't think it was a problem since at Afox page says it is the same Bios used.
I'm going to try this one, but my problem seems to be that the GPU is not saving flashed Bios anymore. It appears as done but the change doesn't complete.

UPDATE: flashed with the suggested one. As you can see... After reboot it keeps with the old one.
(shared the backup Bios now)

Can you download amdvbflash v2.93? It uses a different syntax but it should work for a RX 5500 series as well. See flash instructions below:
For RX 500 Series (Polaris) and Older:

Get amdvbflash 2.93

https://www.techpowerup.com/download/ati-atiflash/

Then look for Version 4.68, underneath 4.68 you will see a link to show older version, click that and you should see version 2.93

Follow these steps carefully:

1. Open your "C:" drive in Windows, create a new folder, call it atiflash.

2. Extract the contents of atiflash_293.zip to the "C:\atiflash" folder

3. Find the bios file you downloaded and rename the bios file to 5 digits with .rom on end Example RX 580, change file to rx580.rom (r****.rom)

4. Move r****.rom to the "C:\atiflash" folder

5. Open the start menu, type cmd, when cmd.exe appears right click it and hit "Run as administrator"

6. At the command prompt type in cd\ and press enter until only C:\> is on the screen.

7. Type in cd/atiflash and press enter, you should see C:\atiflash>

8. Type in amdvbflash.exe -i to identify the gpu you want to flash with a 0, 1, or 2)

9. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -unlockrom 0
(there is a space between the e and -unlockrom and 0)(0 is the number zero)
press enter and you will be prompted that the "ROM Unlocked" (or 1, 2)

10. At the C:\atiflash> prompt type in
amdvbflash.exe -f -p 0 r****.rom
(there is a space between the .exe and -f, and a space between -f and -p and 0).
(Or 1, 2)

Press Enter

Follow directions on screen and if flash is successful exit the command prompt and restart, windows should show up on screen

I tried using many of them... 2.93 fails to read rom, -i states fail on test and NO VBIOS on -ai. 3,15 seems to be the only one that "works", but nothing's changed after completing process.

EDIT: 3.20 just gave something different and took more time. Wish me luck.

Can you turn off fast start up and then turn off the computer completely before powering it on again?
powercfg /hibernate off

Then try to flash with version 2.93 again for a couple of times

I didn't get exactly what you mean...

Version 3.20 appears to work. I finally got something different. Now I have a Bios that says NAVI 14 8GB, before it was 4GB

GPU-Z states 8GB memory, and P/N xxx.

I need to deactivate the other GPU in order to test this one or can do it in a different way?

Thats the product name which is listed in the bios itself.

Sorry, what do you mean to test this one? Its still faulty since the driver is not installed and GPU Clock and memory is still 0 MHz. Can you try the bioses which I provided earlier?

Yes, I just mentioned it because before nothing was changing.

GPU-Z showing all infos now with driver installed.

If you find your card too noisy, you might try this bios but keep in mind the card will run hotter.

Thanks a lot for your help.
Indicating a Bios and giving me the idea of trying other versions.

Everything looks fine now.
