LIAN LI Industrial Co. Ltd., a leading manufacturer of chassis and PC accessories, launched a new series of interlocking fans with the UNI FAN TL LCD and UNI FAN TL. The UNI FAN TL LCD includes a built-in 1.6" LCD display with 400x400 pixel resolution, which is fully customizable via L-Connect. Users can customize their LCD display with format support of GIF, MP4, JPG and PNG files, or opt to display various system sensor information like CPU speed or temperature. The UNI FAN TL offers a noise and performance-optimized fan experience with LCP blades and FDB bearing with copper shielding. Both models feature a revamped lighting style with 2 LED zones implemented in a diffused RGB strip at the top and bottom of the frame that wraps around the mounting points of the fans. Both models are available in black and white, in sizes of 120 mm and 140 mm, and in regular and reverse airflow designs.

The UNI FAN TL LCD integrates a 1.6" LCD IPS screen at the center of the fan. The screen has 400 x 400 resolution and can display system information, including CPU temperature, CPU load, GPU temperature, GPU load, and fan speed. This screen supports GIF, MP4, JPG, and PNG file formats for fun customization for the LCD display, individually or synchronized across multiple fans with the L-Connect software. The UNI FAN TL LCD controller accommodates up to 7 LCD fans simultaneously, with each port supporting up to 3 UNI FAN TL LCD fans. Users have the flexibility to mix groups of TL and TL LCD fans, achieving a harmonious blend of performance and aesthetic customization.

UNI FAN TL
The UNI FAN TL features a 9-blade configuration crafted from durable Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP), ensuring the blades maintain their shape at high speeds. This design allows the fan blades to be closer to the fan frame, measuring 0.65 mm for the TL 120 and 1.0 mm for the TL 140. With an overall frame thickness of 28 mm, this configuration enhances the blade surface area, leading to improved performance. Additionally, the UNI FAN TL uses Fluid Dynamic bearings (FDB) for the fan motor, promoting quieter and smoother operation. The combination of a thicker fan frame, robust LCP blade material, and FDB contributes to outstanding performance and reduced noise levels.

Infinity RGB Customization
The UNI FAN TL and TL LCD boast large infinity mirrors on both frame sides, accompanied by a diffused RGB strip along the anti-vibration pads' edges. This lighting style creates a seamless effect in connected clusters. The top and bottom LEDs are divided into two zones, individually controllable via L-Connect. Utilizing the interlocking mechanism from the original UNI FANs, users can form fan clusters powered by a single cable (up to 10 fans on a single port for the UNI FAN TL or up to 3 UNI FAN TL LCDs per port). With an individual IC built into each fan, the L-Connect automatically detects each fan for effortless management, optimizing system airflow while intelligently identifying fan size and location within each group.

The UNI FAN TL series is available for pre-order starting December 20th, 2023.

Just why?
You could say that about 99% of the PC industry....that black motherboard in your PC, someone could easily say that all you need is a green one and "just why" do you need a black one? And that could be said about EVERY consumer product that doesn't look exactly like an enterprise product, because at its base it's just visual.....so don't be so judgemental.

Anything that requires propietary shit(cables, controllers and software) should go the way of dodo as there are countless examples of manufacturers abondening their product lines and throwing their users under the bus. Also in case of Lian-Li themselves their controller and software seems to be locked into each generation of fans with no interoperability. Single 120mm fan needs 7W(6W for non LCD version)(more power hungry than most SSDs) to run with single fan costing $47 and it wont even power on out of box as controller is not bundled with the single fan which means users need to spend atleast $150 for 3 pack to start with.

I gotta tip my cap to the PR & Marketing teams here.
Haven't seen a double entendre that bold since Sleepy's said to trust them for the rest of my life.

They have normal fan connectors when used singly, i have some uni fans in my case, you can use them just as any other fan.

I guess it's obvious they would need a controller for the LCD.

That was just for 1st gen since 2nd Gen of UNI fans that breakout to standard 4 Pin PWM + ARGB are gone and its been dependent on propietary controller.

Yeah that is pretty shit, just looked at website, a single fan does not come with a controller, so there is no way to connect a single fan to your PC. Crappy.

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

I'm pretty sure they did their research and there is a market for it , despite the premium price.

It's just another device that moves air to increase cooling efficiency, it's up to every consumer to decide what they want it to look like and how many dinero's they want to spend on it.
Considering the reputation of this manufacterer/brand, this product will probably finds it's place somewhere in the premium league of fans as another new option.

I would rather see some 'out of the box' thinking of these R&D departments with a whole new concept/technique of how to move air through a pc-case, coolers, rads etc., which leans more to for example passive cooling.
Wether with axial and/or radial fans and preferably not visible, like some sort of ventilator box (as integrated part of the pc-case) and ducting with emphasis on aestatics, silence and efficiency. Possibillities are unlimited.

I'm sure there are engineers out there who can calculate how much volume of air with a given temperature is needed to effectivly remove generated heat in a confined space (read pc-case) with different power scenario's. Unfortunately my physics & mathematic skills lack severly on this topic, as it would be a nice project to focus on.
There are soo many variables to consider, I'm sure it would drive me nuts, even more crazy then I am already :kookoo:.

Hopefully I inspired some modding tech whizzkid here :D, it can of course also be a process of trail and error but fun.

I just purchased a new LIAN Li SL120 V2 single fan. It came with the cable to connect to a LIAN LI controller, but also came with a cable to connect directly to a 4-pin PWM header and RGB header on the motherboard. It's a cable with the proprietary grey LAIN Li connector on one end that connects to the fan and then it splits to a RGB and PWM plug.
