The 4070 ti or the 4070 super?

I am in the prossess building a new gamming rig and I don't know which card I shud get. I see the prices have come down on some of 4070ti's but I think for the money I might go with the super. What would all of you do if you were me?

I'd wait for reviews to see actual performance gains and price changes. Personally, I think the 4070S will be about equal in performance to today's 4070ti, in which case I get which ever is cheaper.

Also wait what the 4070 Ti Super does...

So wait for reviews.

Another thing to consider is what YOU want out of the card. If the only thing you consider is performance, then the above post from BMD is fairly accurate, probably. 4 SM is not that big of a deal, but the OG 4070 Ti is afforded a higher PL and that probably will translate to 10-ish% differential with the 4070S. However, I personally prefer cards that are not oversized behemoths and, seeing how it was the case for the 4070 Ti, I would think that the 4070 TiS will feature only massive triple fan, triple to quad slot solutions. The only way to get something reasonable would be the FE in this case, and that isn't available everywhere. That annoys me, I would like something more compact, install and forget, so I am looking at the 4070S in this regard, seemingly plenty of choice for compact-ish cards. And the 220 watt TDP is fairly easy to cool.
This is all a long way to say that I am too lazy to install the support bracket that came with my Torrent.

Dlss 2 vs Dlss 3 is also a thing i guess.

PNY 4070ti was the best.

All 4000 cards are DLSS3.

Most people have said "wait for reviews". That's always good advice, but I would add "wait for street prices to settle down". Nvidia doesn't like to see their MSRPs undercut, but the lukewarm reception of these (which I expect), may influence things. Or maybe the old parts can be had for cheaper.

Lukewarm reception from tech enthusiasts yes, but consumers have demonstrated they'll buy whatever NVIDIA puts out at whatever price it chooses to charge. I don't understand it, but I also can't deny it.

NVIDIA hasn't been refreshing inventory of the "superseded" cards for months exactly to prevent the SUPER launch by overshadowed by a glut of older products at better prices. So while you might be able to find a new 4080 for $900 here and there, I wouldn't count on it. What I would expect is a lot of these slightly older cards getting dumped on Ebay for those sorts of prices, because there are a lot of people with enough money to buy every GPU refresh, even if it's not really an upgrade.

They are new cards so anything and everything can happen. If you need a GPU right now, go for it but its a risk even if the tech is not "new". I don't expect something like the cable melting controversy but you never know until a month or three afterwards. From what I have heard, the 4070 SUPER is a pretty significant upgrade over the regular 4070 but will probably be similar to the 4070ti.

That being said the 4070 TI-SUPER is interesting since its on the AD103 instead of the AD104 and i imagine a sale/discount on the 4070 TI SUPER might actually be a good consideration if you are willing to shell the money for a 4070 SUPER right now. For now I would wait a few months... maybe until black friday in the worst case for a sale on the 40 SUPER series to happen. That being said if you need a GPU right now get one.

I'm not sure what games you want to play either or what your price limit is but always use time if you can to get the best deal at the best time. Heck intel ARC battlemage is supposedly coming out in 2024 and there is a small but not impossible possibility intel blows out NVIDIA from a price to performance standpoint (though software still could use some work... as someone with a intel ARC GPU in their PC I can attest to this but it has been getting better). Heck AMD 8000 series is supposedly coming out in 2024 as well and with how great the 7000 series was despite some funny pricing I expect AMD to really put pressure on NVIDIA (granted you want DLSS 3 but NVIDIA might consider lowering their prices since not everyone cares for DLSS 3).

There is a bigger performance jump between RTX 4070 and the Super modellen then there is with the RTX 4070 Ti and Ti Super modellem which is a downcut RTX 4080 that's why it got 16GB of memory instead of 12GB.

Some reviewers has been a little meh about the performance difference between the RTX 4070 Ti and Ti Super because there wasn't much fps grains depending on the title and resolution.

@W1zzard is doing a wonderful job showing this that in 1440p the grains are bigger between the 2 cards but at 4K not really.

Bryan from Tech Yes City had issues with MSI's Ventus model where it already received 3 vbios for the card but not like it has done anything major for the card.

I went Asus RTX 4070 Dual OC myself because of the power efficiency for me with about 185watt at max with +1200MHz memory oc and yes I downgraded from a RX 7900 XT and honestly I am really happy because 185watt vs 300watt even tried undervolting and the titles I am gaming I see the same performance just different watts in 1440p so for me is a win.

Sorry for a long post.

4070 super no question. i had both here and with overcloking the 4070 super with 240 watts is exactly as fast as the 4070ti Stocki had here.

sure you can oc the 4070ti too but if we go by value the 4070 super is far better and you wont feel a difference of 7-8% in performance while gaming.
