A friend brought up a game on friday- PalWorld. It's like ARK but with Pokemon. Spent a bunch of my weekend on it. Judging by the sales and player numbers it's the best pokemon game nintendo never made.

Be aware that PC game pass is not compatible with Steam on multiplayer- Game pass uses peer to peer hosting and Steam users can use dedicated servers.

I bought it, played 95 minutes and refunded it. Totally not my kind of game.

Steam is the netflix equivalent normie platform for video games.
people with zero standards for quality and no experience or passion upvote literally everything.
i bought it and it's just another super generic survival craft game with tons of bugs and glitches. no idea how this went beyond a 60% rating.

Nope, briefly tried it on gamepass and that was about enough for me.
Tho I've never really liked games like this + Pokemon was never really my thing either so no surprise there on my end.

I was very excited when I heard POKEMON WITH GUNS then turned it on and was like "oh, dang, it's just another open-world survival+crafting game but you have pokemons that are dumber than minions in Overlord". Refunded. Even Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is more "pokemon with guns" than this

No hopping for me, thanks....

It's a decent game right now with a lot of potential should the devs handle it right throughout the early access process. I've played a ton of early access titles and there's a lot of content in the game for the first release. It's the only good Pokemon-like game, better than what the mainline series has produced and the first to really successfully modernize the concept. It combines elements of survival craft with breath of the wild and pokemon in addition to it's own take on 3D real time pokemon battles of course with some guns splashed in.

The game has bugs and it needs a lot of tweaking (many things still have stand in values for exp given, time to produce, ect) but that's to be expected for an early access game. People should not be judging this as if it's a full release title. First early access releases are usually the barebones of the game devs want to implement, with the rest coming on the condition that the early access is successfull.

Not touching this. I just bought Enshrouded today, after having waited for the EA release since last fall.
If I were to play Pokemon, I'd like to have them without guns thankyouverymuch.
It is, from an ARK player. Apparently it has less bugs than ARK as well.
That is not saying much. ARK is not exactly the gold standard.

Nope, but I was merely stating what I have heard, as ARK had been brought up several times in this thread. From what I hear, it is no standard at all.

Lol nope.

Totally not my kind of game, like not even remotely :)

It looks like a standard survival crafting game with minions, except those minions are Pokemon clones. I'm honestly just waiting for Nintendo to lawsuit the developers.

Absolutely NOT. Just too "fluffy" for me. But apparently it's now the most played paid game on Steam ever, so it can't be that bad.

Game must be like cocaine for the Pokemon generation. Also I am pretty sure half of the player base (or more) is from the Asian region. Pokemon is a global phenomenon.

Pretty much every Western Twitch streamer has or is playing it too.

There are tons of games that made like no improvements during EA and/or where abandoned shortly after release. ;) But let's give them the benefit of a doubt. They certainly made loads of money to really flesh it out. It's not about funding anymore, the question is do they have the skills & manpower?

Streamers jump on everything that gives them views (=money). There are few popular streamers out there with "standards", who only play/stream what they are really into.

Should have a poll so we know how many people are choosing "no."

Like many others, I heard of it via a streamer/youtuber/gamer news. I looked at it for about 10 minutes. Decided the whole "pokemon with guns" was click bait.

I'm also not a big fan of open world crafting games where you shoot something and numbers pop up.

Not my kind of game, from what ive seen, the longer you get into the game the more micro managing borderlines on tediousness. Enshrouded is a better game.

Good lord it has a LOT of current players. I will take a look but probably not my kind of game. I'm thinking it's more of a kids/girls game.

My social media feed is full of palworld news…. It’s sickening…. What’s so good about it? I know it’s some pokemon clone shooter or something

I barely follow any social media and I've still managed to run into it on some of the GPU/Game benchmark channels I follow/watch on Youtube.
Saw it on gamepass too and I was like meh its only ~16 gigs I can check it out even tho I was positive that its not a game for me. 'gamepass version is older but it was enough to get a general feel of the game anyway'

What I'm curious to see is the drama that might follows since Nintendo is supposedly already looking into the case.

I'm totally addicted, up to 18 hrs in like 4 gaming sessions... I normally game less than 200hrs a year. This is my type of game. I've also played every main Pokémon game since Red and Blue

"Standards" such as "making a living".
