Free Games Thread

I have to take my previous post back:

It automatically installs Fortnite alongside. And it all takes OVER 90 GB? What the actual f***?! When I cancel Fortnite installation, RR is cancelled as well, so looks like you can't go around it.
90 GB for a cartoony online shooter with last century graphics? I'll be damned!

Rocket Racing (racing game by Psyonix who made Rocket League), Fortnite Festival (band game made by Harmonix who made Rock Band), and Lego Fortnite (survival game made by Epic Games in collaboration with The Lego Group) are all free game modes of Fortnite. You get the same experience downloading Fortnite and selecting them as a game mode from the main menu.

I have been playing these game modes without knowing there was an option for them in Epic Launcher.

Ah! That kinda makes sense. Would be nice if they explained that up front.

Weird. Fortnite is free for everyone, maybe they're just trying to get people to play it?
First I was thinking that they wanted to get Fortnite into everyone's list of games, but seeing the above, it means they need to at least make people download it, so there is a chance they will start playing it.
I wonder if players are starting to abandoning it and they are trying to find new players for it, to keep the hype around the game strong. If there is a case of players abandoning Fortnite and that becomes news on sites, that could lead to an acceleration of players abandoning it and moving to other, newer games.

Having Fortnite in my library is fine, but they'll never get me to download it. Not with a simple arcade racer anyway.

To be fair, if the game in question is itself a plugin from another game, then yeah, that would make sense.

Mordheim: City of the Damned free on gog.com

Sorry to bring this back, but have you checked out the intro FPS. It's ridiculous. With minimum clock & mem speed it still chucks out 400 - to just over 1000 FPS during the intro (1080p max settings).

What's with all these online gathering/survival shooters? They seem to be spawning from left and right. :wtf:
Anything that says survival is a waste of time for me. But is just my opinion.

Cash cows. Because they don't require writers, just an ok game loop.

At this point in time I'm almost inclined to agree, because of market saturation and most of them are trash. That said, most of anything is trash. Open world? Most of those games are trash. 2D pixelart indie? Most of them are trash. FPS? Most of them are trash. Heavy metal bands? Most of them are trash.

Yeah, but what about landfills?

(Is that the door over there? Should I just... you're right, I'll close it behind me.)

I was cleaning the house and I found this:
