Because if the friend doesnt pay no tolls. Then Royal Mail dont get no rolls.

The way it works out is the recipient of the parcel or letter is responsible and has to pay any extra fees or outstanding costs if postage fees at origin was incorrect. The company has already admitted their error and refunded postage but Royal Mail as the courier still needs to be paid what they are owed otherwise theyve basically been short changed.

Imagine working for £10p/h then given £7p/h instead because of a payroll error. Youre going to want that money back.
Then I won't do my job the following day, simple. But in the above case, RM has already delivered the package (I don't get why, though).

Because RM are operating in good faith that youre not a total scumbag and will have the common decency pay up.

Although sometimes they will hold onto packages until charges are paid. They'll just drop a grey slip through your door (similar to a red slip but grey) telling you postage was insufficient and come and collect and pay for it at your local depot.

Im not exactly sure how they judge if they'll let you have it or not - normally they wont let you have it but I know a lot of casual staff work in the sorting offices and on deliveries so somewhere along the line a mistake could have been made by one of them and it ended up being delivered along with the grey slip.

Well If you dont want to keep receiving your mail. Just dont pay :toast: they wont hand any of it over to you either if you go to the local depot. Not until the tab is settled.

I do prefer the USA way of doing things on this matter, just return to sender if the postage was off, and the sender has to resend it with no refund given, this is how it works to my knowledge. Making the recipient have to pay just seems like it could get messy. Especially with so many scammers out there these days.

The gray slip thing is at least good to know, that way you aren't wondering if you just aren't getting mail or if something is going that needs to be taken care of. So at least that system does clarify things a bit for everyone involved.

You can still do this. Either refuse to accept the parcel or leave it sitting at the depot. If you haven't paid up in 2-3 weeks it will normally get RTS. If they drop a grey slip you can either contact them on the phone or go to the depot and tell them to RTS to speed things up

I will let my friend know all this, thanks.

What types of pocket knife are permitted in England?

Friend is thinking of taking one over as a gift and wasn't sure of the laws there.

He can probably buy. Just keep it in the luggage going into the cargo hold instead of hand luggage. I've done this many times with a Swiss army knife

If anyone needs button batteries for your key fobs....

No idea what the hell is going on with the pricing but the family car burns through energizer CR2025s in 6-7months. This is 49p per battery. A 4 pack of energizer's would be somewhere closer to 75p per battery.

Shelf life is about 7-10 years so buy some and throw it in a draw until you need them.

Try to see if you can fit CR2035s in it. They're a bit thicker, so you might not be able to, but they last way longer.

I had a look for CR2035 but they seem almost impossible to get. Even Amazon doesnt sell them

I buy them at Morrison's. They're not as cheap as the 20-pack you linked, though.

How much? And for how many?
I can't remember from the top of my head, but they're around the £1 per battery mark.

Edit: Sorry, I was wrong. It's the CR2032, not 35. £2.50 for a 4-pack. Link.

Hhmmmmmmm

I think I'll stick with cr2025s for 49p each. I generally have better experiences with GP batteries compared to Panasonic and Energizer's. GP last longer. If I only need to change it every 10months its done it's job

Speaking of cars, one of my front lights is out, and I don't have a replacement bulb. Even if I did, I don't have the tools to change it. So Halfords it is, I guess. I just hope I can survive with it until the weekend. Finishing work at 6 AM, I'm not gonna force myself to stay up to drive across town in rush hour traffic while being sleepy as heck. That sounds like a bigger suicide than driving to work for a couple of days with a light out. First world problems?

Days are starting to get longer!! Winter light is Bad enough at my latitude in northern Ontario. UK must be even worse!

CR2032s for 9.99 for 20 if anyone wants (still 49p per battery :p)

Alternatively. I think I have seen packs of CR2032's being sold by lidl under the brand name 'Tronic' but i cant remember how much they cost. I still dont think you'll be able to beat 49p a cell though. That is insanely good value.

If you still own a fiesta ST, watching a video it doesn't look that hard to replace the driver side headlight bulbs. The passenger side you need to remove the unit which is just 3 thumb screws and then yank it out.
