The TPU UK Clubhouse

The bloody noise they make is annoying at 6 in the morning though. hu hoo hu, hu hoo hu. they don't seem to get bored doing it either.
There were lots of pigeons near my grandma's apartment. I used to love waking up to their sound and the smell of fresh air. It always brings back good memories. :ohwell:

Pigeons aren't bothering me, but my nearly 2 year old cat is now developed a pesky behaviour of getting up meowing for breakfast at half 6 in the morning.

you could always buy an automatic feeder and have it set to disperse food at 6am in the tin or even 5:45am, make sure its a tin bowl though so it makes loud enough noise the cat investigates.

Or you could keep feeding the cat at your normal feeding time instead of his until he gets used to it and gives up meowing at stupid o'clock in the morning.

Thats not how cats work friend. When the boss tells you to jump. You jump

This! You have to treat your cats the same way you handle your children. Teach them with consistency and persistence.

My cat jiffy liked to sleep on my bed. One night i forgot and closed the door without her in the room. Well 3am and she woke me up frnatically scratting at the dor/carpet outside the door. I jumped out of bet annoyed at her, tore the door open and said for fu*ks sake jiffy, she just does a little meow, jumps on the bed and curls up. little sod

Im going to have to see some evidence of cat ownership.

Agreed. My nieces cat trips me on purpose when I am walking, just for the laughs. Every. Single. Fucking. Time. lol

I have seen the wood pigeons, there are lots of them. I told my friend that if England ever hits a famine since it imports like 80% of its food supply, wood pigeons will probably be the first bird to be hunted to extinction lol cause they are so meaty... don't become friends with the wood pigeons, that's all I'm saying

That is what we have been doing, still a cheeky girl and tries it every morning. She used to wait patiently for one of us to get out of bed, well going to teach her a lesson as she has put on a bit of weight so we are reducing her portion size until shes back at a comfy 4.4-4.5kg weight. She currently weighs about 4.8kg.

And the bonus is that they fit in the air fryer unlike a cat where you would need the microwave :)

Best place I can buy a bicycle in the Exeter area? I don't want anything fancy, but also not so cheap that its intentionally going to be slowing me down due to bad design.

Any thoughts/tips welcome. My budget is limited, so like maybe 200 quid max, but ideally like 120 quid max. lol

Gumtree or FB market. Be aware that some bikes in that range may be stolen and may require additional costs in getting them road worthy. Otherwise google independent bicycle shops in your area and they may have secondhand bikes for sale for closer to your asking price.

if thats not your jam. Some of these shops will also allow you to rent a bike for a short period of time.

no FB marketplace for me, never used it, and I don't trust the bloody wankers I might end up having to meet. I'd rather extend my budget out a little bit if I have to. but good idea on the rental thing, I need one for about 3-5 months. I will ask some local shops how much they would want for a 3 month rental. Maybe I will get lucky at like 70 quid a month or something, probably not, but we'll see lol

just fyi, I will only be biking from one house to another house, about 40 mins each way. and both houses have locked garden bike shed area. so I won't be having to risk anything to bad actors, thank goodness.

bloody hell, I keep forgetting how spoiled I am in America. I can go get a 29" wheel mens bike with Shimano 21 drive on it for only 180 bucks, so what like 150 quid. I mean it's Walmart, it won't be great and it will have almost no shock absorption, but I don't mind standing a bit while I ride. damn, maybe I will just buy a bus pass

Just throw 'bike hire Exeter' into google. quite a few places offering a rental service.

Just had a quick look at gumtree exeter. not gonna get really anything for £120, but this is not bad for a few quid more, not a bad brand either. Gumtree can be ok depending on the area it is.

Argos has (or had) some relatively cheap bikes on offer, although they tend to be quite crap.

I found some 230 quid bikes at an actual bike shop in Exeter, I guess if I buy one of those and just ask the seller if they will be willing to provide discount on any repairs I may need, maybe they will go for it. I don't intend to ride trails or anything so I should be ok.

I am going to ask them to tune it up for me and get the seat height right for me, cause I am terrible at figuring that stuff out.

I'm also slightly worried about getting hit, as one of the roads I will be riding is a country road with hedges, not a lot of visibility. I guess as long as I wear a bright green vest I should be ok

edit: bike is a long term investment too I guess, because my friend said she can keep it in her bike shed for when I'm gone and I told her she can use it too. so when I return in an another two years or something the bike will still be there hopefully. and maybe if that bike seller likes me he/she will give me discount on tune ups over the years.

99% of the time the bikes are already set up and ready to go. You might need some cheap chain lube but if youre not going to be here that long then it probably wont matter. If you want to save a bit of coin. Charity shops often have hi-vis jackets and vests for almost no money so its worth looking there otherwise it could be £8-15 (your call)

::EDIT::

If your friend rides, She'll have some chain lube so you wont need to buy any.
