Flashing VBIOS on Sapphire RX 470 8gb Mining Edition(Nitro)

Please read the entire post (Please help me), it is a little long as it may seem at first glance, but this is only because of the pictures and explanations of everything. I tried to provide as much information as possible.
Hi all. I bought several GPU Sapphire(Nitro) RX 470 8 GB Mining Edition.

1707826843951.png

Initially, they are supplied without any ports (DVI, etc.), but this can be fixed, which is what I did.
1707826788545.png

Now I have three video cards with HDMI ports that my dad and I made, and I can connect my monitor. Everything works on the monitor, and I see the picture, and everything seems not so bad, but if I go to the "Device Manager" I see that the video card starts (disabled?) with error 43. And the error appears after installing any AMD drivers. Also, after installing the drivers, before being asked to restart the PC, I receive a message that AMD has found a problem with my drivers/video card.
1707827368361.png

The next thing I did was try to reflash this video card, I tried to flash it with both the original VBIOS from this video card (Mining Edition) and the VBIOS from the PX570 with similar memory and a frequency +-5% higher than the stock one. I even tried firmware from 580, which on this site was listed as 470 (for some reason). Below I will attach the stock(?) BIOS that was on these video cards.

1707828091882.png

The next thing I did was use a program (patcher) "atikmdag patcher", and paired with the VBIOS from the PX570, everything worked, provided that the patcher was used, and the patcher was installed in about 2-3 attempts and several reboots.

VBIOS from RX570 Nitro+ which i used https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/197478/sapphire-rx570-8192-170310-1
So now I can use these GPUs in my PCs, but as you can imagine, installing the patcher takes some time and is not exactly the solution I was looking for.
Since I have more than one such GPU, and I want to sell them, the option with Patcher is not very suitable for me, since on different PCs sometimes it does not work the first time, and it will be a little difficult. And I’m sure that many people are faced with this problem, since now these video cards are useless in Mining and cost quite little, with quite a lot of potential in games.

Is it possible to somehow fix this error permanently? Or what can I do? How do they understand that there is something wrong with the video card/driver if I completely reflash the VBIOS, and therefore change the P/N and also the Sub ID and the entire identification of the video card that may be contained in the VBIOS on the PX570.

I will be grateful for any help, and of course I will be glad to any guesses, discussions and everything that you write. I will gradually update this Thread as problems are found/solved.

You have an E353 board, so you need to have an E353 bios.

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/197478/sapphire-rx570-8192-170310-1 which you used before is made for an E366 board, this bios will not work without AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher

https://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/198750/sapphire-rx570-8192-180105 is made for a E353 board and has H5GQ8H24MJR support. This one will likely work.
Hi. It looks like it worked, I'm very very grateful. Thank you very much!

I wanted to ask you, maybe you know this? I flashed this video card from PX470 to PX570, but the memory and core frequency are slightly higher, can this negatively affect the lifespan of the video card? Perhaps I should lower the frequency a little to stock for the PX470 (mining edition)? And what is better, lowering the frequency or undervolting? or is it the same thing? Sorry for asking so many questions, but I'm new to these things and would really appreciate your answers and advice. Thanks a lot

I wouldn't worry about it. If the card dies it will due the mining abuse.

The marking on the GPU is 215-0876406. Its a mining chip which is often seen on RX 580 2048SP graphics cards.
The current bios has the same clock speed as a RX580 2048SP.

I really apologize for wasting your time and am very grateful that you helped me, but I can’t find a BIOS for the same video card, but RX470, that is, is it possible to find a VBIOS from RX470 8GB Nitro+ for example? so that the Windows drivers and games work without problems and the video card is displayed as RX470 8GB? I tried to find it, but I can't. Why is there no SubID filter on this site?

Its a E353 board and depending on which GPU is soldered on, it becomes one of the following cards:
  • RX 470 Nitro(+)
  • RX 470 Mining
  • RX 480 Nitro(+)
  • RX 570 Pulse
  • RX 580 Pulse
Since your card contains a mining chip, there was no garantee the display output would be working in the first place since Sapphire could have soldered a chip without a working display output.
You should be happy it worked ;)

FYI: E353 RX 470 bioses with H5GQ8H24MJR memory are mining bioses:

Photo from my friend :). They were stored in a warehouse for a long time after being used, which is probably why they are dirty

Hello.
It seems that @VuurVOS already found the right BIOS file for the card.
But, i have some doubts about the story behind those cards. I am not sure why it shows sign of extreme temps arround memory chips, since they were stored.
On the other hand , when you use a card fot mining, i can assure that exactly those memory chips are stressed.

Yes, they were bought from people who also sold Mining Rigs, I think that these video cards were also used for Mining

Well, since i have experience with AMD cards, even i modded some of them for mining (still have them lying somewhere).
I can assure from the picture, that those cards were overclocked. And i mean hard.
My cards were undervolted and underclocked.
Many of them were dead silent because of that.
Depending the coin i mined, there was some coins where the coolers doesn't even bothered to start. (the card was cool enough).
But that was me.
In your case, you were the lucky winner of an old abused miner who just came out of the mine, covered with coal dust and tired.

Good morning, I would like to know how you gave video output to this video card? Does the HDMI port work? Or did you have to make a configuration bridge, please if you can respond and explain how you did it, thanks.

Those are NOT burn marks. This blue-ish thing around the chips comes from some of the types of thermal pads after some time - this is the lubricating oil they are coming with - it's easily removable with isopropyl alcohol. I'm maintaining, modifying and repairing (incl reballing etc. ) mostly RX470/480/570/580 cards in my rigs.

Hello everyone,

may I ask for advice?

I got second hand card Sapphire RX470 8GB with only DVI out. Based on google it might be some kind of "mining edition" card.

" SAPPHIRE RADEON RX 470 8G GDDR5 MINING QUAD UEFI "

After installing AMD driver card is recognised but not working propertly. After restart Adrenaline soft wont lunch and GPU-Z shows 0/0Mhz clocks, benchmarks runs at 1 FPS...
This was solved with AMD/ATI Pixel Clock Patcher. But its only temporary solution. I would like to flash BIOS with something that might solve this issue.
Can you please help me identify this card and find vBIOS i need?

Card on rear is marked P010-0276-00, E388, on front B0350 and have Micron memory (ZNFK, 8AB77D9VVR)

E388 PCB looks very simulair to E353 from what I can see. Maybe a E353 vbios will work?
Can you make a dump of the current vbios and share it with us?

Sooo..this one might work?
I will try and let you know.

I will also try to dump vbios.
There are actualy 4 vBIOSes. There are 2 switches and depending on position I can switch between Performance, Effeciency mode and 2 backup "slots"
From what I read, this card model can be loaded with different "bios/profiles" with ability to fast switch between vbios/profile for specific crypto currency.

I was finally able to get back to this card.
As I mentioned before there are 2 main vbios/roms.
How do you imagine sharing this files. Using GPUZ upload button to share online or upload it here?

Gpu-z using the black arrow next to the uefi checkbox, upload to the vga bios collection, not in the thread, you should be prompted with a link after doing 1, copy and paste link here, same for the other bios.
