Upgrading vram

Hello I have a GTX 560 TI that im going to upgrade the vram on.
luckily it has a 2gb vgabios that works on it (I havent upgraded GDDR5 from 1gb to 2gb density yet)
witch is great but I want to know how to increase vram on vgabios that doesnt have a higher density vgabios already made for me like the gtx 560 ti 2gb did
but we know its possible because china did it with their RX 580 16gb right?

ive seen this thread but it doesnt seem to apply to my card.

I cant find these on the .rom file
"A0 66 02" => 4 GB
"A0 55 02" => 2 GB
"A0 44 02" => 1 GB

My problem is I cant find any tools or information on how to edit a vgabios memory count.
How can I find and the hex data that represents the amount of memory on my card?

I'ma be honest, upgrading the VRAM on that card isn't going to help anything. Between having to CORRECTLY solder the modules to the card and making a custom vbios, it's still going to be held back by the core performance.

The first question you have to ask yourself is: Do I know how to reliably replace memory modules on a GPU?

That is not a soldering job for the beginner. And unless you already have access to the right tools, they will probably cost you more than a better GPU.

The trick with the RX580 was; they took the Polaris Pro Bios; and made it work on a RX580. Technically they are the same cards, where the PRO version has double the amount of VRAM knowing it's target audience (rendering).

There's no such thing as "I have this amount of VRAM switch" in a bios. When you power a system on it will self-test and count the available VRAM.

All the available tools do not offer a option like that. You can attempt to solder 2Gbit chips instead of 1Gbit chips, but depending on the bios it will work or not.

And additionally, it is problematic trying to flash cards with unsupported or now these days, unsigned bios files.

You won't get lots of extra performance by just doubling it's ram. VRAM is used to "store" "cache" elements to prevent it from streaming it from system memory. If that runs out it needs to sip over the PCI-E bus from CPU which makes it more slow compared to streaming it from VRAM. Even if you double it, the GPU is quite slow to even make proper use of it.

This is exactly how i feel. Of course im not looking for actual preformance its a bloody ancient card. Just didt want to risk offending anyone by telling them not to reply on the thread.

This is less about the microsoldering and more about editing the vbios. I got the microsoldering part figured out.
