ARPG is like one if not my most fav genre to play so it was only a matter of time and now with the v1.0 launch I felt like this is the right time. 'apparently I've already played it before in a beta but I did not remember '

Games like this are a long term investment for me since if I like the game then I tend to return every now and then for a few weeks like in seasons or when a new update drops so its pays its value over time. 'much better value for me than a game that I finish once and then never play it again.. I have 1000s of hours played in ARPGs and Looter shooters combined  '

Don't get discouraged about server issues. It could be a week or two before things get better. Game is pretty fun if you can connect and matchmaking is working.

I'm not using mm, I've got clanmates to play with. The only server issue we saw yesterday was when it reached like 400k concurrent players and one of us had to wait a little to join after taking a break. Otherwise no issues during 5 hour session.

How is that game working out? Worthwhile?
I'm having more fun in it than I thought I would. Aside from current server issues (connection issues due to full servers or matchmaking not always working or rewards not always being distributed or purchases with in game rewards not always working) the game play is hectic and fun.

For me, with the servers having issues (problems I listed above) I haven't put too much effort into the game yet. I've mostly coasted through on the #3 (medium) difficulty challenge for my play throughs. But last night since server stability seemed a lot better from yesterday's patch (still needs work, but it's better) I moved into the #4 difficulty (challenging) and it was a night and day difference over medium. The group I was playing with we barely made it through the the mission and the stratagems I normally used for medium difficulty weren't as effective as I thought they'd be for the harder difficulty.

You're calling down eagle (jets) strikes and orbital strikes from your ship and running while trying to make sure you're paying attention to where your teammates are calling down similar strikes so you're not getting pasted across the terrain. You're frantically swapping between your two to three weapons because you don't have time to reload, throwing grenades, calling down support and running to the next objective. It is fun.

If you like team focused play with humors teamkilling, hectic gunplay/combat, the game is well worth the $40. If you're buying for PC I got my copy off Fanatical. I was there looking around and a 17% coupon popped up on my screen, plus the $2 off I had sitting in my account means I only spent $30 for the game.

I like that the game also doesn't feel like it's tied around microtransactions. Sure, you can purchase the special Super Credits with real money, but you can earn/find some while playing the game if you want to buy specialized looking armor from the Super Store. But you can earn medals from completing missions to get the items from the Warbands that I think are just as good. I personally see no need to pay extra into the game, you can play and survive in it with what you can easily earn.

I believe that the devs are looking to get out a couple more patches very soon to help with server issues and hopefully they can acquire more servers to help with the massive amounts of people that want to play the game. Last night I spent about 10 minutes waiting to get into the game due to servers being full. Here's hoping that within the next couple of weeks many of these problems are resolved.

Is it true that the anti-cheat they are using requires kernel-level access?

As far as I know.

I don't think the game really needs anti-cheat since it's a PvE game, but I can understand that the devs don't want people trying to insert their own code/cheats on the players end that can give them benefits to the game since they do have micro transactions built into it. Keep people from abusing the game system.

I don't think the anti-cheat impacts the gameplay performance at all. I have zero issues with it running and it only loads up when the game is active (I don't find it running in the task manager when the game isn't active). Even with me transcoding 75GB of media last night at the same time I was playing for a couple of hours in Helldivers 2, I was still pulling around 90-100fps with my system.

this was a top scoring game in a recent review from PCGamer, I recall reading it and scratching my head. I played poker as a kid with my parents, but haven't played in like 15+ years.

Still trying to decide if I would like this game or not, seems to be getting overwhelming praise everywhere though.

Preordered Horizon Zero Dawn Forbidden West - liked the first one well enough, and the sequel looks like it is at least as good.

Having second thoughts on dragons dogma 2 though - thought it would be more like elder scrolls, but it looks alot more like elden ring than i'd like, and the whole souls tryhard thing aint my cup of tea.

Ever play DD1? DD2 is like DD1. And it's a fantastic game that unfortunately had like 60% of it cut and after playing it, I craved for more.

Def gonna get DD2

RE4 remake, I’m only an hour in but I’m far from disappointed considering the original was one of my favorite games of all time.
