Yeah, in the past Apple with their long software support was really exclusive and admirable, these days, Samsung/Google also offer 7 years minimum.

It works just fine. It's not a speed demon of course, but it's not exactly unusable, if I had to estimate i'd say it's about as snappy as my dad's Moto G31, so in line with a budget Android device. Where you feel the most is the camera quality. It really fell behind the times. The only applications that I can't run on this phone are Microsoft Office suite and Netflix, they're both asking for iOS 16.

Everything else seems to be fully supported and works well enough.

Really hope to see Samsung honor those promises. The phone industry has to slow down a little imo. They're so caught up in releasing a new phone every year they've started to neglect perfectly capable devices just to up sell the newer ones, not to mention that they have been diminishing returns, generationally speaking.

Group plan or individual? I seemed to have the best coverage/signal with Verizon, but the Google Fi group plans are so cheap it's worth it.

ya I was leaning towards trying to convince my family to move everyone over to the 4 person group plan at Google Fi, my Dad's a veteran, so maybe he can even get a discount on top of the 4 person discount, not sure.

Hello friendly phone people.

This thread seems pretty active, Phones are a tech I follow closely as I rely on cloud connectivity for a medical device via 5G/4G
The software I rely on is proprietary and delivered by an American company, doesn't work with developer mode active and wont install on devices not on the QVL no matter how standardized the platform, Android and IOS updates also break the software and stop0 connectivity for my robotic internal organ so I run a Samsung galaxy S20 FE as a daily {Snapdragon 865} I bought an ARM9 {8 gen 1} based phone but it never got QVL!d so im stuck on the S20 as a daily.

My tech role model/Hero co-designed the ARM architecture and currently works for Qualcomm, So yeah. guess I'm into phones.

Bought my mom the 4G S20 FE (with 8GB RAM/Snap865) a few years ago. Decent phone, still holds up.

I'm just waiting for the iPhone 16 Pro. It'll cost me a bundle, but since i'm back in the saddle I might just need it.

It's a good plan. I haven't had the best experience but I am pretty sure I messed up something with my connectivity on my phone. Definitely a good deal though.

My pixel 5 just got pregnant while I was at work yesterday. Came out to see it had bulged in the middle about 50+ % so I scooped up what I think is a solid deal on a pixel 7a (till I see the new model I want from them)

Biggest migration gripe, can't 'copy' an esim (afaik) as part of the data copy to the new phone.

I run a Redmi Note5....you know it's old when the charging plug is micro B

But it works and I don't want to invest in a new one right now. Runs Android 9 and the only two things I've seen incompatible are Diablo Immortal

and Google VR stuff. I don't use both, so I don't really care. Wish I'd rooted it and change the boot logo with the circle from Cyanogenmod 10.....that circle is SO cool! I had it installed on my previous phone.
