Im inclined to agree when it comes to the story of it. Its pretty weak, but action games arent exactly known for bestseller storytelling. While the gameplay is quite good and very much does 'work and match' the setting, purely visually its just mostly weird and its not directly an immersive quality of the game.. The immersion does happen while actively hunting though; thats really how its supposed to 'connect' I think. Also the game visuals do avoid the pitfall of being generic and soulless which so many games are; shiny, but soulless. I do think the world and Aloy have character, soul to it.

Everyone is ofc entitled to their own opinion, but i found the story (especially when you read all the lore pieces) very compelling - an AI in control of a bunch of advanced military equipment going rogue, nearly entirely annihilating humanity, with a ruined world, advanced machines, and a few humans left a 1000 years later being the result.

It's far from the first game or movie to handle the subject of rogue AI's, but that doesn't make it any less compelling for me - especially as the possibility of it actually happening sometime in the future only increases as time goes by.

Horizon Forbidden West - the visuals are generally a very nice upgrade over HZD - a vast upgrade even. But i really don't like the new Aloy model (as i've read alot of other people don't either) - she's now got a serious case of rosacea, a fat arse, and sasauges for hair.

Remembered there was manual shifting in FH5 tonight and somehow won an Eliminator round. At the arena, so I pulled myself together and held a posedown.

I see nothing wrong with the character model. The complexion is fine (looks more weather beaten than what you say). The shape is clearly accurate given the skirt and utility equipment on the waist, and the hair is sort of braided. I find it lamentable people are so triggered by these things.

Also, the 'fat arse' comment (apart from being inaccurate) isn't very pleasant.

Weather beaten would affect the entire face - it wouldn't just give these red inflamed cheeks and nose. And no one else in the game has this look, which you would expect if it was simply from being weather beaten.

And i would just like to remind you that i'm far from the only one who doesn't like the new Aloy model. There was a quite big outcry about it when it launched on playstation 2 years ago.

That's what alot of people are saying, that devs tried their harddest to make her less attractive without completely changing her.

Not only does she appear way more bloated, and with rosacea, it appears they changed several of her features - previously she had more cat shaped eyes, now she has more droopy eyes. Not to mention that she actually had defined abs previously, which only seems logical for someone as active and athletic as her. Also seems they made her eyes alot more green.

It is a video Game. If you want to play a game and see Women in that way go play Witcher or CP2077 or RE7 with mods. A female main character in a video Game does not need to become a sex symbol. Lara Croft is not the example and go look at the original Tomb raider and see how much imagination played a part. There are plenty of places to get what you want. From the sound of it, if you enjoyed the first one, you will enjoy this one. IT does sound a little sexist. It would seem that Youtube and Twitch are promoting this BS to show their support for the Anti Woke agenda in an attempt to get as many clicks as possible.

Gotta agree, its not an improvement. And with that... my care mode is over, its also not detracting from the game. I mean, this is MILES away from the cast you see in 18351019 recent games, where you have the whole but exact same colorful bunch in every setting and every age for whatever godforsaken reason.

My take on this change is really, its different, but still Aloy. So she got fat. Maybe they'll release a Gym DLC some day and you can go all San Andreas on that This is not a remake into her being a generic soulless character.

@Dragam1337 Why so harsh mate? I just think the extra screenshots you posted, spoilers or not, would be better suited to the screenshot thread. I also want to hear how the game is rather than the fixation on how the character looks. Like I said, no offense was intended.

So you end up overrun, get a few hits, recover, rinse repeat, unless you happen to have Knockback card. Thankfully, found one since.

Yeap... depending on the cards you get... the game plays out completely differently. I came across that issue too; and then the next playthrough you find some nice AoE knockback card and you WANT to collect mobs at the door The references are all over the place too, its hilarious

It's beautiful, though I have noticed an odd "sheen" (I just started, so far most noticeable on hair) I guess to some of the characters that wasn't present in the first game? Probably a different engine or rendering method or whatever. It's a bit distracting, but I'm sure I'll get over it. Otherwise a very pleasant game. I do wish they had included some ray tracing, reflections and shadows could certainly be better, but at least performance is good. No issues so far about an hour in on my 7900XTX.
