thats what people dont get if amd was in the shoes of nvidia, nothing would change. the marketleader is always trying to get as much money as possible because they are the leader and they can beacuase of that.

you can only pray that intel will catch up to nvidia one day because they have the manpower and budget. amd will never catch nvidia.

nvidia is never resting its always competing with itsself in every department. you can say what you want but nvidia brought us almost everything when it comes to gpus and 3d graphics. if im not mistaken they even coined the term GPU to be mainstream.

so yea capitlaistic system works as intended.

behind the curtain they maybe even work together to get the most money out of us. which is hilarious to think off when things like fanboys exist which is just pathetic.

but in the END we the consumer are the people who dictate prices! the problem with that is that humans as a mass, are just idiots.

if all gamers would not buy a single gpu in the next Generation. you would have your 6090 on release for 700. its that simple but as i said masses are dumb so that will never happen. so it makes absolutely zero sense to even discuss this topic. some people are so brainwashed they think a 4090 for 1500 is a good deal.

its like with dlcs mtx in games, the older ones who knew better will die off at some point and the new ones new gens, dont know better so it will become the new norm. its that simple these companies are playing the long game, they all have plans for decades ahead.

And we are loosing as customers. but it is what it is, and if you wait and watch for deals you can still get good deals, like we had a 4070 Super New from mindfactory for 519€ a few weeks ago. For Americans here thats like 450-470 Dollars depending on your tax rate in your state. And that is a good price for the thing. i mean they almost sold the small 4080(4070ti) for 1100 bucks, but now because most consumer didnt buy it, they had to relaunch it as 4070 ti which was still expensive af so they relaunched it as 4070 Super at over half the price albeit being 4%-10% slower, .

you see it actually works if people dont buy, but the issue is most westerners can easily afford expensive gpus even if they know its to expensive for what it is but buy anyways.

a 4090 for 1500 is a good deal.
In all fairness, it's the fastest mass production gaming GPU on the market and, y'know, the best can ask for whatever price and it'll be fair enough.

However, 4070 (released as 4080 Super) should've cost 500 and not 1000+ USD. Alas, AMD have shown absolutely no intention to declare a war on pricing whatsoever.

4070 is pretty much $500 now. Bit late sure, but you can't really blame NVIDIA for setting prices that consumers will pay, because tier for tier, NVIDIA cards are more valuable than their competition.

4090 being $1500 is because it has 24 GB VRAM, and NVIDIA can easily sell the die in a Quadro card for twice the price. Be happy the model exists, noone is forcing anyone to buy it. It's there as a halo option.

This is not what a 500 dollar GPU should've been. It's a 350 dollar tier product at the very best. 4070 is a far more cut-down Ada than 3060 is a cut-down Ampere. Real 500 USD GPUs had been named 4080 Series. Being marginally (yes, 25 percent on average is marginal gen-to-gen wise) faster than 3070 doesn't justify the $500, let alone initial $600 price tag.

This is what I'm doing for the last decade. To no avail though.
Intel looks promising. They're already doing several things better than AMD, and will catch up in GPU efficiency.

Intel are doing the god's work in terms of making mid-quality gaming much more affordable with XeSS rivalling DLSS rather than FSR, with the latter being leagues behind in terms of quality and stability. Their GPUs are also great $ per FPS wise. Also reasonable RT performance, much more so than in AMD counterparts.

However, it's an extremely long road for them. We need about four generations of improvements until Intel GPUs become a real deal in high tier segments.

I blame the people who think that "no DLSS support = no competition", aka. the people who wouldn't buy AMD even if it was free.

Everyone blames nVidia and AMD for GPU price increases and they do share some of the blame

But you also have to blame TSMC for their price increases per wafer in recent times. According to Trendforce a 12 inch wafer in 2020 was selling for ~$4k, now that same wafer is going for nearly $8k

Until DUV becomes more mainstream and producers get their costs recouped for these machines (they are EXTREMELY pricey) we arent going to see a massive drop in wafer prices due to the extended times it takes EUV to do small nm products.

Not a fan of DLSS or DLAA?
DLAA is amazing.

Even with the tiny amount of die space RTX features use the architecture is still more efficient and faster in both classic raster and ray tracing than any competitors... The RTX stuff is cherry on top.

DLAA is really good, but I have played very few games where it's supported as of yet.
Spiderman Remastered + Miles Morales are the only two for me recently.

12 inch wafer in 2020 was selling for ~$4k, now that same wafer is going for nearly $8k

Which equals to 92,903 square mm. Or beyond 300 RTX 4070 dies. Under 30 USD a die. The GPU sells for 600 dollars. Please don't excuse super profits. RTX 4080 could've been sold for 350 dollars and this still would've been net positive for NVIDIA. This is how overpriced this equipment is. Thanks to virtually non-existent competition and existent demand.

NO, but you will have to pay more (significantly)… any (new/current ) Nvidia card that competes with the 7800xt is more.
a 7800xt 700 $can, but checking canadacomputers . com (local) and newegg . ca in stock … amazon . ca in stock… no problem on amazon.

so are we kicking tires?, if you want the secret sauce of DLSS, Nvidia is the only (expensive) game in town…

This is not what a 500 dollar GPU should've been
if a 4070 is a 350 dollar product what is the 7800xt then? last gen the 80xt was like the 80 card form nvidia now it can barely beat a 4070 that is actaully a 60ti card at best. ada made a huge jump with 2 nodes at once which we have seen never before. thats why. and with that the 4090 is actually incredibly dissapointing not even reaching 100% on top of a 3090ti with 2 fucking node jumps.

yea exactly its the successor to the 6800. but amd thought rdna 3 will take on ada just fine but then it went all to shit with its 3ghz in games and all and changing the names back would have made a lot of issues with aib or amd just is stupid and copiying nvidia well it works for them since ada is arelatively good jump. thats why nvidia went out with the 4090. they do this every time historically when amd was very competetive in the last gen.

1080ti came to life because they thought vega would be fast but it was just hot and shit. thats why i fear blackwell will be boring af except the 5090 that will gou out too but everything below will be ada 2.0

yes come back to nvidia daddy op

On the other hand, 7900 XT is a monster card for it's price at 1440P.
If Crysis had RT back in 2007 it would have been used as the be all end all to showcase how Nvidia is superior to AMD at making a GPU.
We have Cyberpunk now for that.

Yet Cyberpunk even with it's PT mode looks nowhere near as good as this.

Video games don't do well trying to mimic reality, it is meant to be an escape.
If RT changes and I doubt it will, I think it will get widely adopted, it won't be for another 4 gens at least.
2 games make good changes with RT on and PT mode in CBP is inaccurate too as it uses mixed SSR with RT still even in that mode.
