Yes, them. Experience was good with the 6s Plus, the phone was flawless when I received it, and had a then-new battery. I'm hoping there aren't too many unlicensed components on this Xs Max, but this is the kind of phone they usually don't mess with, probably because of all of the Apple genuine checks. We'll see, if it's tampered with I'll probably be in the know.

They currently have the iPhone 8 Plus for about 1000 in the 64 GB flavor. Worth if you want to learn iOS or need a cheap phone that will just about smash any Unisoc Motorola for an affordable price...

I had only good experiences with them. Both when buying my Tab S6 which apart from coming without the S Pen is still a piece of beauty and exceedingly powerful for what I need a tablet for (but its OLED is glorious, and I paid less than a new Tab S6 Lite for it), and when selling my former Galaxy Note 10 via the Samsung website partnership (well, they take their sweet time to process the payment, but they do pay).

About getting an iPhone for thrills, maybe one day I'll do so. I'd say that if I do go ahead with such an idea, it'd be a model with FaceID.

That's the iPhone X and newer... they had a batch of excellent quality 256 GB iPhone X's this week, for ~1500. Sold fast. Those were updated to iOS 16, modern enough to support just about every app out there. The Xs should receive iOS 18, though unsure it'll get 19. Probably will, since they have an A12 and 4 GB of RAM, not too far from the iPhone 11 that should still be updated for some time to come.

Avoid the X. It's a pretty device to hold, but awful battery life. Besides, it's on life support at this point.

I would advice avoiding Apple until the sideloading/alternative market mess clears up, if it ever did (not with EU being so cowardly about enforcing their own laws).

For what it's worth, I'd go in knowing full well that it is a walled garden. That and the woeful handling of files between the phone and a computer.
Heck, long gone are the days in which I tinkered with my Androids (though I admit tinkering was part of the fun in using the Mi 5 - which is still supported by many custom roms). One UI is at a point that I feel there's nothing missing, so for me the S23U (and the GN10 before it) just works greatly and I don't stress over customizing it.

The X has a thing going for it that's the last iPhone that can be reliably jailbroken, so it's always going to have a bit of a niche. I'd like full sideloading support, but if I may be honest, I'm satisfied as long as I can load game emulators (Apple's getting there - hopefully RetroArch will release soon). As for media players, foobar2000 and VLC are available and while transferring your own media through iTunes really gives you PDA-era vibes, it works, I guess.

It's a shame it took them until the iPhone 15 to add USB-C, and even then, you only get anything above USB 2.0 480 Mbps speeds with the iPhone 15 Pro... sheer volume of devices (which is everything from the iPhone 5 to the 14 Pro) out there means we won't have a shortage of Lightning accessories any time soon, anyway.

The iPhone 13+ can't yet be considered budget devices in most of the world, sadly. The 12 is still priced above comfort zone (you'd be an idiot for buying one at the same price as a Galaxy S23), and that leaves the iPhone 11 to contend with the Android midrange, which arguably offers more for your money (if you can put up with Chinese devices and Android). The iPhone X, Xs and Xs Max are a bit of a black sheep series, people focused on the strict budget look for the 6s, 7 and 8 series, particularly the 8 which is hella cheap, supports iOS 16 and still has fairly reasonable specs. Otherwise, people who buy strictly new and can't afford the latest tend to buy the iPhone SE.

This of course considering that you're buying unsubsidized, which I am. Not signing years-long contracts to get a phone, particularly when I have an amazing cumulative prepaid that's effectively unlimited.

That's was a BS move! USB 2.0 is from 2002 or 2003, IIRC! Even my 2004 Asus A7N8X-X had USB 2.0, LOL. You know that's strange, when even a socket 462 motherboard has USB 2.0!

Even a phone from 2014 should have had USB 3.0 already! (or of course, 2015 or 2016!)

Here in the US the 13 pro is USB C. I did no mods to it at all. The charge cable I got with the phone is USB C. I don't know why you don't have it there but, I have the phone and it is a USB C and it came that way.

usb 3 has been rebranded and we get trash speeds until gen 2x2 which is hard to find.

Nice ip15 with USB C and only USB 2 speed, great way to spend a ton of cash, better off with a S23 at least they actually use the port correctly. Do Apple charge more for the use of USB 3 on the 15 pro then? if so that is typical Apple, but people still pay it.

I've received my Xs Max earlier this week. Phone's in surreal condition, and hadn't been tampered with, all parts pass Apple's genuinely checks. Battery at 80%, I'll probably have it serviced at the Apple Store soon.

I've been enjoying it so far. It's snappy and the screen is gorgeous. What surprised me the most is the speed and accuracy of Face ID, it works even in the dark, this is 20 years ahead of the facial recognition of Android phone from the same era. The Xs should be about the same age as the Galaxy S9, but it seems to be far better than my S10+ in just about anything.
