Well, they're kind of ho-hum headsets...gotta say something.

(Not knocking them btw; as I've said before I've used three generations of the 7 wireless. Comfy, mic isn't complete crap [and can be internally stored], sound profile is fairly flat ootb; battery lasts a very long time.)

I really do like them (for the $), but besides commenting on stuff like the mic, comfort, and batt life...all the practical stuff...there really isn't much to say.

Unless you're someone in the market for a Maxwell, I'll keep recommending them to everyone.

Correction: I guess Warehouse has them for $76. You honestly can't beat (or complain about) it, imho, fancy drivers or certainly not.

You're not wrong; I personally find wires cumbersome; most 'gaming'/in-line mics are kinda shit, and most people (that play games with comms) do in-fact use one (because convenient).

I respect that not everyone is there yet, but there truly should be no fear in embracing wireless, especially if you DON'T have a high-end set of headphones or permitting mic setup.

I will grant you the CONSOLE (particularly Playstation) options are limited, but I hope that is something that will improve.

Like I said, I nagged HFM about this (making something similar to what the Nova does) and they apparently don't plan on doing it. Things could change though.

Sony bought Audeze (perhaps for this reason), and they WILL. Hopefully there will be a range, but if such people don't embrace it (assuming there is an affordable option) by that point...I'm sorry, they're just boomers.

How in the Gods name is preferring good audio is being a boomer? There are almost no headsets that would actually reasonably compete with decent headphones in terms of detail and tonality, especially wireless ones since a lot of good drivers require a decent-ish amount of power to drive which is not feasible with a battery. And anything planar? Good luck. There were a couple of headsets from Sennheiser which were essentially just HD5XX series cans with a microphone that kinda fit, but that’s kinda it from the top of my head. Audeze, like you mentioned, did have things like the LCD-GX, but that was heavy, outrageously expensive for what it was and the sound signature was… weird.

Moreover, most, the vast majority of headsets, actually, are closed back, which is funny to me since for gaming, especially competitive, wide staging and good imaging is king and that’s the domain of open backs. While “gaming” headsets from “gaming” companies mostly sound incredibly bass boosted and claustrophobic for… reasons? I would give Steelseries that their stuff is better than most, same with some of HyperX offerings, but there is absolutely no reality on this Earth where I would take one of those for competitive play over, say, an HD560S, a K-series AKG or, like, a Beyer DT880.

In short, if you are remotely serious about getting good audio on your headphones, you go for a decent pair of cans to your taste, a DAC/AMP combo and sort out the microphone as needed since there is a ton of options. Hardly inconvenient too, I vastly prefer something small and USB just standing in front of me under the monitor that I never have to even think about to having a headset mic under my chin when I play.
