I was not using a HDD i was using a Compact Flash card.I will try bios set ide channel to auto thanks basco. I don,t know why it stops verifying though

Already ordered some heatsinks from Ali for the RAM chips, and I think I have a ridiculously huge cooler (that looks like it's been made for either a X1000 series card or HD3600/4600), just in case the OEM one ain't cutting it.

Yeah, ofc make sure it works as sadly R300/R350 cards don't last forever, or I've just had bad luck with these. :|

I've had much better luck with X800 series cards (both AGP and PCIe)

Yeah, mine wasn't trouble free either - I had to reflow the RAM chips on the top side and some RAMsinks are top priority above everything else to be done with it. So far it's artefact free but the RAM chips get fiercely hot during normal operation.

The other R300 card I have, a Hercules 3D Prophet 9700 Pro, survived for a long time, but it's fairly clear why - every inch of VRAM is covered by blue RAMsinks

My Monitor has built in speakers ,but i have no sound on XP, all the stuff iis greyed out to do with sound.Sound only seems to work with my Windows 11 pc.

the guys voice is very anoying ,but he does do informative videos

Tried to load Snappy Drivers but it froze .Success this time whether or not it will load the sound device is another thing.Still no sound but it has un greyed out.

I have tried this kids video ,but enable all is greyed out.

i disabled all then clicked enable all and it went back to Disable allAllso 3d mark 2001 crashes I can,t download anything on here as it is the intergal verison 2019 with Baslisk browser.

Have you tried using another IDE Cable?

Got surprised how hot Ivy runs. A terrible heater when compared to Sandy.

Gotta benchmark the GT 430 (and other old GPUs) with a tame 4GHz clockspeed just to have its temps under control. And it's delidded of course.

Does anyone have a reference X1900XTX? Can you check the VRM temps in GPUz for me? On my card the VRMs can go up to 110°C apparently.

ATI failed on that front from what I can see on the interwebz, it's a very hot card all around. The stock heatsink is untouched, and hot air from the GPU blown over the VRM by default.

I am trying to get a system on a CF card.
Can someone look at my post about trying to get a system on two Retro Boards which are having the same problems .I have photos of all the steps i have gone through on there.How do i get a secondary Master into a Primary drive?

Wrong (WRT air-path).
Fan sucks air from the computer case and blows it out back through the grill. Air thusly goes through the VRM heatsink (if you can call it that) and into GPU cooler under Ruby's tits but VRM's aren't cooled properly.
I had two X1900XTX cards die with such a crappy VRM cooler - it gets so hot it gets all discolored from heat (from red to white-ish). On the third card I made a cardboard extension channel around the VRM "cooler" and it helped some. I still have all 4 of my X1900XT/X cards - last really good GPU (without 16-bit color banding anywhere due to internal 24-bit processing).

Then I misunderstood the fan shape and rotation. Since it rotates clockwise, it looks like the fan "scoops" the air with the inner blade surface and pushes it down and right through the GPU cooler fins.
