How to connect Displayport into an a 4k 144Hz TV?

Hi! I have a RTX 4080 with 3 DP outs and only one HDMI out.
I have a LG C1 in my living room, its taking up the one HDMI out I have. But I just bought a Samsung QN90C 43" to use as a monitor, but I only have Display Ports available now. How can I get the 144Hz 4k signal to it from a DisplayPort out to an HDMI in?

I live in Brazil so I can't buy from Amazon, I can buy from aliexpress tho.

Thanks!!!

You can buy from Amazon US, they ship here. The concern is whether you actually want to, the taxes are nasty. Whenever I order something though, it usually gets here in 2 or 3 business days.

A good quality certified adapter for this scenario would be the Club3D CAC-1088, it costs $42 plus $71 in taxes and shipping:

Club 3D CAC-1088 DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 4K120Hz/8K60Hz HDR Active Adapter M/F on Amazon.com

Depending on how much does your credit card charge for the dollar exchange plus IOF tax, you're looking at around R$ 600 for that adapter if you opt to import it, it's simply not worth it IMO, even if you have a high-end credit card with favorable international conditions.

I have found a couple of specialty cables that might do the trick for you on Mercado Livre, but they are also very expensive (R$ 290 with free same day shipping and another that's 225 with standard shipping)

The cheapest one (takes a little longer to ship) might be what you want, the manufacturer claims it's compatible with 4K 144 Hz, as far as I know the cable should be the same (HDMI 2.1 48Gbps), but if it doesn't work at least you can complain. Personally, I use native a HDMI 2.1 cord (Club3D CAC-1372) to plug my 4080 on my LG G3, and my 4080 has 2 HDMI ports, good if I ever need another TV hooked up for some reason.

Yeah, paying 600 brazilian bucks for a cable adapter is insane. I think I found some around the R$130 range on aliexpress. If they can do the job, that would be amazing.

Such a bad idea, having only one HDMI port on the GPU, especially a high end one like the 4080!!!

Well the problem with AliExpress is the shipping time. You'll find the same thing there and at ML, end of the day it's what's more convenient to you. I'd personally pick that R$ 225 cable and be done with it, but if you can wait, Ali is not that bad an idea. Just remember that purchases below 50 USD are now taxed by the government as well (20% federal taxes plus your state's ICMS), so you won't escape that.

Cheers :toast:

They've been doing single HDMI since Pascal. This is nothing new. Display port is just better.

But TVs don't have Displayport (which is dumb, especially a 43" inch like that one, theyve gotta expect to use it as a monitor)!!! So that's like really screwing me.

The 20% federal taxes is not in effect yet. It's still a ways to go.
All of these 3 options would cost me between R$134-R$140 (total, taxed and shipped)

Any of 'em look any better or worse to you?

Looks like they're all samey, pick the cheapest I suppose?

The reason most cards have only one HDMI port is royalties, each port has a fee and thus it's usually kept to the most premium designs

YEs I know there are royalties.... but I mean. Its a 1200 dollar card. These royalties are MINUSCULE compared to the price of the cards lol

Consoles still dominate HDMI port usage, no real reason for manufacturers to switch to cater to a smaller group to be honest.

I use Benfei DP to HDMI and all four have been in use for a long, long time.

I bought one of them Aliexpress cables. For now I'll be switching HDMI cables whenever I wanna use it on the living room. Should be here in like 2 weeks, give or take...

Was just curious because I'm in the same situation. Did that adapter work?
In addition to whether this works in general I am also interested in whether 120/144Hz works and whether adaptive sync/GSync works :)
