Can't even go above 1.3 SoC unless your using a old BIOS. This is to prevent killing the CPU.

On 9/june/2024, there are new updates to AMD chipset drivers [6.05.16.221]. After the update, I tried to test XMP-5600 again. It still has reboot issues with restarting, I can first boot into Windows after setting XMP-5600 in BIOS and I can always boot into Windows as long as I only shut down. However, when I restarted Windows, I heard the buzzer sound as 1 beep before all devices(fans, LEDs) were turned down for about 2 seconds. After that, they were turned on for the reboot process. But they could no longer reboot or enter BIOS. I need to clear CMOS to fix it.

1. I have tried to set the XMP for semi-AUTO with some manual values (40-40-40-77, VDD/VDDQ 1.25) from the table, but the issue is still the same.
2. I have tried to enable both Memory-context-restore and gear-down mode, but the issue is still the same.

p.s. In the native-4800 mode, there are hardly any problems with rebooting. There is no buzzer sound of 1 beep when I restart in native-4800 mode (excluding 1 beep when POST is successful).

not a new driver, except for the board/brand, amd released the latest in march.

do you have winzip or 7z?
if you right click on the driver to unpack, check the chipset driver.exe (right click > properties) to compare numbers.

the latest amd is from mid march v. 6.02.07.2300
if not, you might have the wrong one?

beside: you have intel ram, xmp values are only good for intel.
if you use it on amd, it will probably need looser timings, maybe even clocks.

e.g. a (b-die) ddr4 kit on xmp 3600C14 does 14-16-16-16, but on amp its 14-22-22-22.

unless you/others can confirm that kit has same spec for amd, either live with what it can do, or exchange/swap for AMP/amd certified kit.
could also be a rare case of mc/kit not liking each other, another reason to swap.

Eh. That was a problem is early Ryzen Zen DDR4 stuff.

For Ryzen 7000, besides tFAW (which XMP 3.0 DDR5 doesn't set), I haven't found a problem XMP profiles for DDR5 on Ryzen.

For example if you set tFAW to 16 on AMD it won't boot, but will on Intel 12,13,14th gen

Below are EXPO specific timings (ignore the ##) Intel XMP doesn't have it and is set by the motherboard.

i doubt amd and ram makers invested time and money into amp/expo, if they could just use xmp profiles.

besides, we're troubleshooting here, not tweaking, so im trying towards it working, incl trying manual things, even if its just to check, if something else causes issues.

e.g. one of my prev boards Aorus Ultra added too much soc v and was not stable, until i reduced it, something less likely with manual settings..

@Waldorf I think you might have misunderstood. At the base (Primary timings) XMP and EXPO as identical so far for every single dual profile kits I've tested. XMP does not have those extra EXPO values, which is what makes it "different" and for "AMD". Funny thing is I so far found a number of EXPO kits not even putting values in those spots. So it is essentially XMP lol.

We are another year or two away from EXPO becoming useful besides marketing that it is AMD compatible and Open Source over Intel XMP proprietary technology that has been in use by AMD for quite some time now.

I got the latest AMD chipset driver from GCC (Gigabyte Control Center). In the below image, it shows the version as 6.05.16.221
Clipboard_06-10-2024_01.jpg

However, if you check MB's official site, you will see the AMD chipset driver is 6.03.19.21 which is the prior one before I updated with GCC. I think this may be from a delayed update on the website.

@ir_cow
For my RAM kit which is XMP only (I made a mistake when buying because I was in a hurry and didn't check if it was EXPO or not), I can boot with auto value from XMP mode (40-40-40-77, @1.25) in the first time. The problem happens only after I restart, so I think it should not relate to timing/setting value, isn't it?

The last way I want to try but haven't been able to do so is to replace the RAM with expo because my friends are still using ddr4.

I really do not think XMP/EXPO profile debate is your actual problem. I'd be shocked to find that this none-boot is a XMP exclusive issue. I would like to know though.

For years already, I have always gone to the CPU manufacturers website to get latest chipset drivers & with no problems whatsoever. Motherboard vendors are notorious for having out of date drivers.

i recommend uninstalling GCC.
nothing its good for, does nothing (i can remember) you cant do without it, and big chance of messing up stuff, even if its just from auto updating something.

those numbers are for GB, not amd, so unless the driver was released after end of march, its older than the amd one you can get from their site.
i would use those, as they usually much newer, and not seen any MB (chipset) driver fixing anything (over amd one)..

@Launcestonian
might be the case for some, but at least for msi i never had them being behind much, and the last one was actually released prior to amd's version,
e.g. msi had the same (chipset) package out a week before amd.
but yeah, GB is one of the worst, the latest gpu driver for my card is 431.60 from 2021, they could easily just upload the generic Nv driver (555.99),
and another reason i use GB as the last option for parts..

besides, not saying there is pixie dust and magic involved, but i assume brands do "tweak" those packages compared to generic amd ones,
at least when looking at boards for +300 and up.

Hi, if this works for you somehow, i use to have the similar problem, i have the same MB, B650E Aorus Elite AX ICE.
I build my PC just the last weekend. Rams: LEXAR Ares 6800mhz 16x2 + R7 7800x3D + PSU RM1200x Corsair.

The thing is, my PC doesn't boot when i set the XMP profile without update the BIOS, my mistake. I mean, the PC runs normally when i set the XMP the first time, but restarting no, doesn't boot.
So i don't know how but i tried to update the Bios with USB after turning off the computer. Then i change the BIOS to the lastest version on the page.
And now on BIOS they offer the EXPO and that is the profile i'm using right now and using my computer.

But i need to low the SPD is just i'm not sure how to do it because i don't understand this new HUD or which values to change, they are so many.
The reason? i only want something stable, not sure if 6.800mhz is fine, i want lower speed.

I was playing COD MW3 few minutes ago and crashed the Graphics, no idea why. Maybe is the CPU or drivers directx.
I need to do an Undervolt to my CPU too because i hate how all the time get accelerated and lowing, the auto configuration sucks for amd cpus.
Before i was using R7 5800x with another hardware and everything goes fine.

Because your memory is DDR5-6800 is why. 2:1 memory ratio didn't work for nearly a year until AGEAS 1.0.7.0b rolled out. Even so, the latency penalty may be worse than just using DDR5-6000 depending on the application

I have some information from aida64 to compare my new RAM(Kingston) and old one(corsair).
Kingston has 2 EXPO modes, 5600 and 6000. Both modes can work without any issues. In comparison, Corsair has only XMP-5600 mode and has issues on restart.

Kingston-expo-5600

Corsair-xmp-5600

From the results, the frequency looks different, especially in the case of northbridge. I wonder if this is causing the problem with the Corsair's RAM?

Kingston uses mostly Hynix dies.
I am not sure about the Corsair kit you have. It looks like Micron die.

I would only buy DDR5 kits with Hynix dies. I had bad experience with one Samsung based G.Skill kit. Same issue as you described, cool boot fine, but it got stuch at reboot.

With Corsair it could be any manufacturer. They are notorious for calling the same SKU number with different RAM modules.

Im having the exact same issue.

When starting pc from a cold start it runs flawlessly, when i turn it off and on still works just fine, but when i need to restar the PC for come drive update or somthing else, the pc closes Windows and during the black screen reboot the computer literally turn OFF and after 2 seconds ON again, and at this moment i get a random debug led (cpu or memory) and wont post for nothing. To get a post i need to reflash Bios and set everything back again.

Already tried 2 bios

ddr5 is finnicky, and if you just turn on expo, it may be the cause.

First things to try is turn off powder down mode, fast boot, memory context restore, in bios.

make sure your dram vdd, vddq are set to 1.35v for a start.

This is almost certainly a bug in AMD AGESA, I've seen multiple users complaining about the same issue on the ASUS ROG forum.

Workaround seems to be: -disable memory context restore & -disable power down enabled

I'm not impressed with AMD. This is a 2 years old platform and they can't even figure out reboots. It seems like regressions are often reintroduced and they do minimal testing or decide to ship AGESA with known bugs.

I agree with you about memory context restore. It causes nothing but problems. This is one of the reasons why it isn't enabled by default.
