Hello everyone. I am using ASUS B650E-E motherboard. There are a total of 4 M2 slots on this motherboard.
And I use them all.

This motherboard is structured as follows.

M2_1 PCIe 5.0 (Cpu Line)
M2_2 PCIe 4.0 (Cpu Line)
M2_3 Pcie 5.0 (Cpu Line) (If M2 is inserted into this slot, the GPU PCIE X16 bus drops to X8.)
M2_4 Pice 4.0 (This slot comes from the chipset)

Apart from these, there are 3 PCIE slots.
PCIEX16_1 (X16 Speed Gen 5.0)
PCIEX16_2 (X4 Speed Gen 5.0)
PCIEX16_3 (X4 Speed Gen 4.0)

Now my question is;
While 4 M2 slots are occupied, will there be a problem if I add one more M2 to the last PCIEX16_3 slot? Does it affect my work speed?
Will I have a problem with PCIE Lines?

https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1037507/
When I look at the Hyper M2 configuration in this link, I see that it can work.
If anyone has any knowledge and advice, I would be very happy.

From what I am looking at if you install all 4 you lose the function of the 2nd x16 slot and tthe 3rd slot drops to x4.

Instead of trying to fill every slot buy larger capacity drives.

I am currently using 4 m2 and all m2 slots are occupied.
In this scenario, my graphics card is running as x8.

Is the second PCIE X16 slot canceled?
Because as far as I know, when you use the M2_3 slot, when the graphics card is installed in the first PCIE X16 gen5 slot, the second PCIE X16 gen5 slot slows down to X4 speed. So the graphics card (gen5) gets x8 lanes. 4 lanes (gen5) split into M2_3. 4 lanes go to the second PCIE X16 (gen5) slot.

Of course, there is also a third free PCIE gen4 slot at the bottom, which is x4.
I want to install M2 in this third PCIE X16 gen4 slot.

But why?
Instead of trying to fill every slot buy larger capacity drives.
I am using 2tb ssd in each slot. I have photo video processing and game archives. I would like to buy 4tb, but the prices are very expensive in my country.

I would invest into a DAS but to each their own. In short to answer your question. Yes, 3rd slot would be active and able to be used with an M.2 adapter Gen4 4x bandwith.

Thank you very much. I bought this m2 adapter from Silverstone. I will use it with this.

I wanted it to be NVME because the speeds were higher. But if necessary I will buy SATA ssd.

I think you will be fine, in fact you should even be able to install another NVMe via an adapter in the middle PCIe slot.

But why?

No. The CPU + board has the lanes to handle up to 7 NVMe drives (32 lanes total - 4 needed by the GPU = 28 / 4 lanes per NVMe device = 7), a purchaser should be able to install that many drives without losing functionality.

This board is probably one of the better ones as it looks like it will get you up to 6 drives in total (4 via M.2 slots and 1 each in the lower PCIe slots via an x4-to-NVMe adapter, leaving x8 for the topmost slot). But this is the exception rather than the norm, and it shouldn't be. PCs are - or used to be - about flexibility, not about being forced to make compromises, and this is a technology forum.

I know, I just picked up a 1000W Platinum PSU and it wasn't easy driving home missing an arm and a leg.
I suspect the old one I use for testing purposes being over a decade old may be one it's way out finally.

When buying this B650E-E motherboard, I made sure that it was the top model in the B650E series. Some mid-range motherboards (B650E) are better in features than many mid-range X670s. There are 4 NVME M2 slots. And two are PCIE 5.0. Both GPU Slots are PCIE 5.0. At this point it was ahead of other B650E models. Again, on the VRM side, the X670E-F Gaming was my choice because it was in the same class as the models.

These four 4 NVME slots are fully occupied. I use 2TB SSD in all of them. And I inserted another SSD into the bottom PCIE X16 (Gen4) slot with an adapter. I use 5 NVME SSDs without any problems.

there are asus gpu with a nvme slot now. that will help to increase your no. of drives.

am5 iteration is limited to 28 pcies lanes, i think asus bios should work fine if you populate all these lanes with nvme
