LG OLED C1 TV odd behaviour after nearly 2 years

I think you are confusing my post with someone elses - otherwise show me a qoute of me saying that.

Tell me you've only ever experienced oled tvs via youtube videos and forums, without telling me ...

All you are doing is listing off hyperbole from years past, said in reviews and forum posts. Degrade super fast? Not usable in a brightly lit room? Are you sitting with the sun directly on your tv or something?

The major downside is that you have to let the display do the pixel refresh. Just the same as us oldtimers remember from having a plasma display. If you have to have your display on 24/7, then no, don't buy oled.

Seems like it is the Soundbar doing it, the moment I unplug the HDMI cable the TV stays in standby mode.
Doesn't look like there is any settings on the soundbar itself, only other thing I may try is turning off HDMI SIMPLINK on the C1.

Disabling CEC/SIMPLINK should solve that.

Well after awhile it all seem well and dandy, now the TV refuses to go into standby mode.
Tried unplugging everything and no luck, it just turns itself back on until I turn it off from the wall socket.
May try to do a reset by holding power button down while its turned off from the mains.

So never unplug your LG OLED because after every 4 hours of panel usage it runs a panel maintenance routine when in standby mode. Don't mean to eb an alarmist or a drama queen but since you've been refusing your TV to run this maintenance routine for its entire lifetime it's possible that you've accelerated the panels natural degradation. Hence the constant need to run the pixel refresher. HOWEVER! That's just ONE potential explanation which, obviously, is nothing more than a hypotheses..just a speculation on one possible root cause...
More likely than not is that it's not that bad at all. Just so you know there's no need to feel bad or panic over it.

What mine actually does is..if I turn it on from the wall socket, the standby light doesn't even light up until like seconds later and the pressing the power button on the remote does nothing until the standby light flips on.
Before the standby light would turn on almost immediately which allows me to power it on from the remote.

That sounds like aging capacitors, to me.

Well I'll know what to do next time when I do inevitable need to replace the C1 if I don't choose to get it fixed by LG technician.
As I mentioned above, it won't turn off(standby mode) in the morning I was using the TV.

Well since my last post in march, the TV was semi-working alright up until now.
The power board had finally given up last weekend, it wouldn't turn on no matter what I tried, I have tried hard reset etc and no luck.
Checked the fuse inside the plug with my multimeter, showing 0ohm, so that was fine.
Got to removing the back panel to get access to the boards itself, quite straight forward job luckily after watching a video.
Unplugged the terminal to the power cable and plugged that into the wall to check if it's getting 240v and it was so the plug was fine.
There wasn't anything wrong with the panel, speakers, power button itself and the input/output main board as it was working perfectly fine. So the only issue which is the common fault is the power board itself.
So paid out for a "new" one for £250, couldn't find any used one as the board itself is probably at it's manufacturers EOL and I couldn't be bothered to research if others would work so I found a seller selling the same board.
2 days later, got the board today and swapped them over. TV back up and running again.
Hopefully with the information I know now with OLED, the TV shouldn't die until it all dies.

Ironically I have installed the latest update a few months ago.
No idea if that has messed it up or anything, but I did initially turned the auto update off.
The version I have installed currently is 03.40.85.
I'll see if leaving the TV on standby helps while I'm waiting for my enquiry response from LG.

Wow, you should always leave the TV plugged and with power. Mine has never asked to do the 5 minute cleaning thing cause it does it when I turn it off, and that's why it needs to be plugged and with power.

I know to most people this statement might sound like total hyperbole but I have them side by side here, my 2022 Samsung The Frame (which isn't even a particularly bad QLED TV) and the LG G3 and the gap in their panels' image quality is simply unreal

I did a test yesterday between the Dell IPS black 27" 4k, an LG C2 oled, the LG 32g95 oled and the gigaby FO 32 oled, and yeah, oled's are just different.

Going by that logic, a OLED shouldn't be no different on paper, where it should be "safe" to turn it off completely from the socket and power on with near 0 problem like any other TV after providing power again by the socket.
But the fact that it does behave differently which means I am going have to treat it differently which I am now after replacing the power board and so far the TV has been flawless.

Ever since someone decided that these are smart TVs that are basically computers and that all maintenance tasks are done when you aren't watching. Software updates, panel refresh cycles, etc.

Honestly it's this thing of unplugging everything that's actually weird. Modern electronics are designed with strict vampire power mitigations, so I don't see the point.
