After the constant malicious unblockable ads and runaway code that would get pushed to me over Edge while on YouTube, I have opted to yeet all of these problems and Edge in favor of Brave. It has a lot of teething pains, especially when running other video players but the intrusive ads and trackers have stopped. It's so good that I've opted away from running a DNS sink. At some point I might eventually jump back to Firefox or go full futureman with Librewolf or Floorp but now is not the time.

The only thing I don't like about this is my preview of WEBP files has disappeared along with any trace of Edge.

Opera because I really like those quick access thumbnails which for me is a stand-out point. Apart from that, one browser is very much like the other. Edge is good, but I don't like its nagging and the fact that you have stop it running in the background on Windows start-up. MS really likes to ram it down our throats, along with Bing. That, annoys me.

Chrome and honestly not becuase I like it but becuase I hate it less than every other browser although I've only tried Firefox, Opera, and the windows based ones.... I feel like these days you're picking the least worst option not the best.

I'll never use Linux so haven't tried any options on it.

I guess it could be worse could still be on Netscape Navigator which was trash but I still liked it better than IE lol.

I mainly use Firefox (with uBlock Origin, of course).

I also use Brave and Tor for certain things.

At work, we're required to use Edge (used to be Chrome before we got bought out), though I've gotten away with having uBO installed on it.

In Arch and Win11 it's Floorp all the way based on FireFox ESR: https://floorp.app/en

On Android it's FireFox since Floorp ain't made for Android sadly.

You could try Mull on Android. It's based on Firefox (so it has full extension support) and has a bunch of security and privacy-related things.

Also Vivaldi. Used Opera 12.15 until it was unusable then switched to V because it was old Presto-powered Opera team.

WebKit Opera sold itself to China Communist Party circa 2016 which is security risk to say the least.

It's a good thing that Opera runs on Chromium these days. Not worried about Opera Norway AS being owned by a Chinese corporation. Besides, with the amount of miHoYo games I play and the amount of 阿堵物 I spend in said miHoYo games (that's a lot of CN¥), I have no right to complain

(Note by the Supreme Internet Authority of the People's Republic: this user's social credit score has increased because of this post)

I'm surprised Waterfox is still around. It kinda lost its purpose around the time Mozilla removed xpi support and introduced a native 64-bit Firefox. I think it was around the time they first rolled out the Quantum engine or something like that. That's a trip down memory lane alright.

I've used Firefox since before its formal release in 2004, so just about twenty years now.

The main reason I switched to it because Internet Explorer (6) had a habit of crashing when I went to input POST data and submit it (such as when posting on forums). I though copying the post contents to the clipboard before submitting posts would at least prevent me from losing such content if the crash happened, and to my surprise, the crash was also clearing any clipboard data from within Windows (XP)! I'm therefore not sure what was going on; maybe a wider issue with Windows or explorer itself but I got so fed up with it and having to lose stuff all the time that is witched and have had no reason to change since then.

I tried Chrome some time in... 2009, was it? I thought it was pretty... i don't know how to describe it but maybe sterile or bland (?) at the time, and I have even less of a desire to give it a chance now with the way things are going. A lot of things in the tech world with hardware and software have seemingly moved to a "practical monopoly in everything but technicality" state, and it's depressing.

Other than some strange performance hiccups after the update that introduced multi-core support for something (or whatever it was) that ended up being resolved, albeit a bit longer than I would have liked, I've had no major hindrances that have made me want to look elsewhere.

Don't let anyone know my favorite Mac is running Vista... ;)

I've always been a Firefox diehard too, but the performance fell off hard next to Chromium browsers lately. Moz can't keep up, it's a losing battle. Chromium today is far more pervasive than Internet Explorer ever managed to be back then.

I'll worry about that when I have performance issues that affect me enough to do something about it. That almost happened once, but I've had no such qualms recently.
