Is it possible for GPU to artifact through hdmi only ?

I´ve had my tv (samsung bu8000) for about a year and half and my 4070 ( about 6 months old) but i just had a instance yesterday where my tv showed some pink artifacts then it covered the whole screen

It lasted about 30 seconds before going to normal again

I was gaming on the TV (4K resolution) , closed the game and then moved the pc video from tv to monitor and this happened

The artifacts remained on the tv even when i´ve passed the video from tv to monitor

it showed the samsung circle searching for signal while the artifacts remained in the screen

This never happened while gaming ( i tried elden ring 4k max settings)

I also game on my monitor ( dp cable) and this never happened)

I´ve checked samsung service menu and found no significant errors

Is my gpu or tv damaged ?
I´m wondering if i should rma my 4070 ?

I had an issue with pink or green flashing fullscreen artifacts on an lg CX oled. I tested multiple gpus and it happened very rarely on ALL of them at 4k@60hz and 4K@120hz. It was the hdmi cable in my case. While it was an hdmi 2.1 cable, it only supported 32gbps. I bought a 48gbps hdmi 2.1 cable and the problem disappeared.

i also game on my monitor and never saw such problem but the connection is display port

my gpu is a 4070 gigabyte windforce ( never had crashes or similar stuff on monitor)

i play elden ring at 4k 60hz in the tv

do you guys know about service menu? i managed to enter it and i´m wondering if it can tell the issues the tv has ?

Would lg be more durable than samsung ?

also it is possible that the same 2.0 version hdmi cable can input lower bandwidth? just checked and mine is 18gbs , is it enough for 4k 60hz?

Play at a lower resolution to see if it is the HDMI cable.
I'd suspect that before any major component.

But I'm not seeing this with monitors. But, LCD monitors before 2022 or later in 2021, were more likely to have bad pixels. Suspiciously the same period as the load of faulty 870 Evo SSDs!

If you do, make precise steps and multiple videos of it, so they cannot refute the claim so easily.

HDMI is such an evil empire. Considering they have never changed the look of the cables, yet there are significant capabilities is insane. With names such as Premium High Speed HDMI Cable. But it needs to be Ultra Premium High Speed HDMI to get 2.1a..

My parents for the longest time has their Foxtel box (cable) with an expensive 4k TV with HDMI 2.1a ports and a soundbar with eARC etc. Yet, they were using HDMI High Speed cables. As they liked the white better than the ones that came with the hardware. So, the Dolby Atmos, proper 4k and HDR, Dolby Vision etc running through the box never came. Considering it is over 80" and about a year old.. When I went to visit I noticed this....

There must be a lot of people out there running HDMI 1.4-2.0 cables or a 2.1a/b cable but plugged into the wrong port. It is crazy the version number of the cable is not hard printed on both ends of the port dongle end thingos.. instead just a stupid long name but never what version of HDMI it is. Nor does the hardware tell the user, 'the HDMI cable you are using is v2.0 with bandwidth is only 18gb you are missing out on x, y, z' use a 2.1a cable and plug it into HDMI port 4 for your PC with RTX 4090 or something.

Geez. Plus what happened to dual cables to double the bandwidth. Used to be able to do that with Displayport cables to double the bandwidth. Which is another stupid thing. Why don't monitors, gpus and TVs that can be used as monitors have at least one DisplayPort 2.1 port.

Because HDMI supports things like ARC (Audio Return Channel) and CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) that allows all connected HDMI devices to be controlled with a single remote. And DisplayPort doesn't...

HDMI go 2.1a if you have one, i had a 2 and kept making my 4k refresh like every 30 seconds upgraded the cable and everything's pukka funny thing is the 2 was fine until a windows update last year.

yep unclear labelling and lack of clear manufacturer guidance is a piss-take, more-so for the general consumer. I wouldn't be surprised if a ton of customers are unknowingly bottlenecked or lacking advanced features with outdated cables. If corresponding cables are not included with the display in the least mark the packaging with some clear reference/specifications... opposed to poorly referencing them in long-winded manuals where the laymen is left to seeking additional advice for some little added confidence.

Another issue being its not always easy to source the good stuff unless the buyer is familiar with reputable brands/products. In the past, I've had my fair share of pitfalls with buying cables/SD cards/USB sticks online (Amazon/Ebay) based on specifications alone. Sometimes even fakes replicating reputable brands. The inconsistency in manufacturing standards, substandard materials, poor shielding, false advertising, etc leads to a string of performance issues - a good ole kick in the teeth! It would be nice if relevant cables are bundled in with their respective devices.

Last but not least... not naming which 'local retailer'... On one occasion, I found customer service being pants in identifying the old vs new standards when making recommendations to a customer. I had to butt in to make sure the customer walks away with the correct standard.

also , is lg better than samsung considering reliability ? my dad has a uhd lg as well ( almost 3 years) and it´s been fine

Prices for the LG UR7800 43 inch TV seem to quite good considering the spec, if you can get it at the right price it is well worth considering. And it has features that may help with gaming (see graphic below)

i also got my first bu8000 that i had to take it back to store since the screen turned green sometimes

Hard to say, they do a 5 year warranty if you register the product which seems reasonable.
