GPU-Z shows no checkmark on OpenGL for my Radeon 6750 XT

Also, I'm trying to run a game that uses OpenGL and getting this error:

GLFW Error 65544: Failed to retrieve context version string
Could not create window.

I have run DDU in safe mode to remove the AMD drivers, then reinstalled them. TWICE. Still getting this problem.

Can you check in Radeon software if it says like on my screenshot here?
I recently had kind of similar issue when reverting from 24.6.1 to 24.5.1, had to deinstall/reinstall old drivers several times because registry was being weird. GPU Temps & memory speeds were not getting detected by the system at all. Turns out, it was a driver and/or registry issue.

Well I got the same thing! I play DayZ and 24.6 introduced major stuttering into that game, and reveting back to 24.5 turned my MSI afterburner suddenly unable to show me GPU temps.

The 4 highlighted fields on your screenshot display the exact same information on my AMD app. If you want, I can show the screenshot, but it's the same. Also running 24.5.1

OK so I checked for other games that run on OpenGL to see if I'd get an actual error message, and here's what I got, attempting to run Dune: Spice Wars...

Use the official AMD Cleanup Utility (never DDU) and download an earlier driver version, from March or January. Then keep upgrading until you find the latest that works.

That's an OpenGL developer tool for making games and similar. It's really not going to fix a broken OpenGL stack.

I had this same problem once but with OpenCL instead, used DDU and then installed a much older driver which fixed it and then updated to the new one after that.

I presume you installed on top of an older driver because the newer driver replaced what needed to be replaced and left the rest alone correct?

When I got this issue before, what I did was uninstall using DDU, install some old driver thats compatible with 6000 series, and then download and install the latest from AMD and check to do factory reset/clean install thing, after that restart and OpenGL is back and working. ie Download files before hand, disconnect internet, DDU -> Install old eg. 23.9.1 WHQL, restart, install with clean install Adrenalin 24.6.1 (current as of Jul 14, 2024), restart

Ya know whats strange is I will use System Restore before upgrading a gpu driver then just install over the top of the older driver, restart, never had a problem doing it that way.

Finally I solved it! In the end it had very little to do with OpenGL itself, as it was the Visual C++ runtime libraries that were corrupted on my NVMe drive.

Reinstalled, and everything's working fine. The Earth's magnetic field is weakening, more cosmic rays are getting through and flippin' ma bits!

It gets worse: I had installed 23.1 after reinstalling the VC++ and verified that everything worked.

Now I upgraded to 24.5 and it's broken again...

Mine started with the Rage Pro Turbo, back in 1998 or so. My ATis and AMDs have always been dependable, up to this point. Had a couple of all-in-wonders, the very first Radeon, and so many through the years. I did a stint on the dark (well, green) side for a bit back when SLI and 3D Vision were a thing and boy did I ever love the 3D Vision stuff. But that's all done now. Team green crapped all over the tech I wanted from them, then they jacked up the prices to beyond insanity, and I'm back to red.

Anyway, it's the newer Radeon drivers that break stuff for me it seems. Installed 23.5.2 which has FSR 2.2 which I do use, and now my OpenGL games are working. Whew.

Back when I was young, I loved tinkering inside my PC, but now I abhor that. I just wanna use the darned thing!

Well do a system restore point, try the new drivers again and try that redist, if no dice, restore to before and use the driver bug report function and on the amd website.

That's my aforementioned "experience" jab there. 16 month old drivers to fix something as simple as OpenGL support. :kookoo:

It's gotten to a point that it's parts of sad and parts of amusing. It won't be long now and Intel will have better drivers than AMD does.

I can't really say I've experienced this, and I seem to have all the known AMD issues. So declaring this a common issue may be a stretch.
