Hi guys,
Let me premise this by saying yes I am an idiot!
I ordered a pair of Sony MDR-7506 and got them today, plugged them directly into my Mid 2012 MacBook Pro after reading they don't need an amp and work just find plugged directly in.
I bought them specifically for transcription and music as well, I plugged them in and was on rev.com where a video started playing of reaaaaallly loud white noise in the background and it was on full blast across the board! I lowered it ASAP and it was only a few seconds this was occurring. It was disturbing to my ears but I've heard worse.
I am really not too concerned about my ears, they were free. However, did I do any damage to these new headphones that isn't obvious? I hear no static or white noise now with them on, music sounds good. Nothing is screaming out at me as a red flag, however I am an anxious man and an over thinker.
Googling now, did I damage my headphones? Nothing like googling intrusive thoughts for reassurance
Anyways, guys... do you think they're fine? Lol. I bought from Amazon and I could get a replacement no problem but it's a waste of resources if they're fine.
I read that the output of a MacBook driver isn't even strong enough to come close to maximum for these headphones. I suppose it's the fact that that particular video was white noise and really loud that made it sound so bad.
I am leaning towards they're fine, and I am over reacting. I could use a professionals opinion to walk me off the ledge though. Lol. Thank you in advance my intelligent friends.
