Why do you ignore that they handled the hand grenades really well and has been solved, done and dusted in less time than it took Intel to even put out their first incorrect statement. AMD handled the situation a million times better than Intel did and continues to do. It's frankly pathetic the way Intel is handling this.

Don't constantly keep bring AMD's resolved situation here. Contrary to what you might think, it only makes Intel looks worse

It wasn't even one model, it was one vendor with a bad batch of cpu which they prpbably just set up wrong, which is more likely since no other vendor had any issues. Or just click bait. Noone could match what they claimed, unlike 14900K

You were the one claiming Ryzen had a high failure rate, didnt specify anything else, and linked to a BS article. But you didn't even read through the article yourself, because that's not what the article states.

Just FYI. Intel themselves have admitted that there's a problem, along with some of the sharpest minds in the industry. Keep believing in your robust and solid 14900K but unlike your BS AMD claim, actual Intel RMA claims look pretty dire
It's not a claim. All wafers have a failure rate. Doesn't matter what minds think about it, hardware isn't perfect and neither is fab process.

Again, I say it again, manufacturers of processors try and aim for under 2% failure rates. Both parties.

I'm not fond of Intels Management Engine. Their issue could simply be from this. Or lack of the user/company updating firmware when need be.

I don't have a 14900K. If you are quoting me, read my other posts please. I gave a list of 4 different raptor lake chips and why I don't have 900 series chips.

Is your PC enough for what you're using it for? Only you can answer this question.
yep, it is. My concern is just about future upgrades. I opted for a 12600K last year for the price/perf ratio. 130 bucks decent z690 and 140 bucks cpu, with the possibility of going 14700k for a nice upgrade in 2-3 years. Now, 12900k is the best I can go for...I feel bad for the choice I made, even tho I don't need any upgrade rn.

ITT: Intel made a poo. Fanbois; no they didn’t and if they did it’s your fault for handling grandpas poo wrong!!

meanwhile, the rest of us piss ant peons game on AMD hardware. Sorry, been busy playing games that don’t crash.

Didn’t Intel license X86-64 from AMD?
AMD and Intel used to share chipsets and you could swap either on the same motherboard back in those days.

Not a fan boy. We'll for PC in general, yes. I am a fan of PC and PC users!!

This list should explain that I'm not a fan boy.

These are all the processors I've played with and some benchmarks I may have run with them. Quite a bit of history there. Been a lot of fun.

None of these have been RMAd and many of them pushed well beyond manufacturer settings.

Why do you feel bad for your choice if you don't need an upgrade? If you're happy with your PC, then you'll definitely stay happy with it until Bartlett comes out, and then you'll have a better picture whether to buy that, or swap for AMD. We'll probably have much faster AMD (and Intel) processors in stores by then.

Why is everyone talking about irrelevant AMD stuff this is about intel. My cousins rig which i built has instability issues. It started after 6 months and would crash. I made sure all power limits were stock and still had problem with UE5 games running out of VRAM on his 4070TI and 13900k. The only way i could get the CPU stable was to lower the multiplier to 52X. In the GN video and Wendell they have both noted that others have resolved this by setting the multiplier 53X or lower. There is no doubt something wrong with the intel chips in high multipliers in certain batches.

Cause it happens.

From what I gather, you had issues with vram being topped out and lowered thr multiplier and blamed the cpu??

Is this with a bunch of testing with many games and system default settings? Or is XMP enabled which when is, gives users warnings about setting this could cause instability because some other system settings like voltages will change.?

No, this is not how batches are determined to be failure raptor lake chips.

When Intel blamed MB manufactures for the issue, it's not far off. Ive seen my B660-G posting over 1.5v Raptor lake chips. More often than not, we'll over 1.4v easily. That's why earlier, I tell a user 1.5v isn't shit. If the amp draw is low, the voltage doesn't mean BAD, degrade!!! Bad batches!!!

It means there's settings which are not stable. All the processors pass testing to be sold on the market, and nobody in the the market is using the same hardware Intel may test with.

So far, you have an unstable system. Many people have that. Does that mean changing the multi helped while other settings where altered not to mention keeping management engine firmware and software up to date?

So far you gave, lowered multi. Cpu is bad. It works fine, just doesn't like this multi. OK based on what other testing man???

Just curious why it took all this time for Intel users who are having this problem to speak up?

Known good settings are known good. If those settings are no longer good, something is amiss.

Playing with voltage to get it to work right is not a fix, but it is something that we all do.. till that doesn't work anymore.

Right bear with me here.

Intel Raptor lake has been out since 2022. This issue does not mean the processors are bad. I'm saying this issue could very well be a cause of ME updates and or lack there of and other possible software (MS) incompatibility or other.

I'm saying at the hardware level, a single cpu multiplier might not be the direct cause and effect.

Is MB manufacturers shipping incorrect firmware and possibly MBs sitting on shelves like mine that are not updated for Raptor post the chip over 1.7v? I experienced it first hand. It ran less than 60 seconds in this state.

So back end thought is I believe this is something that could be repaired because it hasn't been an issue since release dates.

I'm not going to go over the weeks of testing i did with XMP off on, all of the days of no crashing running benchmarks but as soon as i launch a UE5 game VRAM out of memory. This is based on Intel latest baseline for 13900k. The only thing that made the CPU stable was lowering the multiplier. Do you work for Intel why are you trying to counter act my personal involvement with this?

Your personal involvement happened when you made the post. If I'm reading yours then ask you some questions, that would be a conversation. Doesn't matter if you like the conversation, we don't have to have it. I like details. You gave few. Just sayin....

I am corroborating that there is something wrong with certain batches of Intel CPUs that GN Wendell and all these other vendors have stated. I spent 2 weeks straight testing my cousins 13900k, sorry for being standoffish i am upset because i thought i was loosing my mind. Now more and more information is coming out and i feel Intel is "Doing right" by the big companies by giving them trays but the enthusiasts they have yet to do anything except blame the motherboard vendors and users.

Alderon Games is some game developer for a game I don't play. But they came out with this post that has been going around various hardware circles on the internet: Intel is selling defective CPUs - Alderon Games

Anyone else hear more about this potential story? Two full generations of CPUs leading to stability issues? It looks quite devilish, it sounds like the CPUs ship out of Intel just fine but after months of use begin to have crashing / instability.
I've been watching this situation develop. It seems very likely to be limited to a specific batch of these CPUs, or set of batches, that seem to have had some sort of problem with the substrate material, IE the base wafer that the IC components are built upon. It's very likely something extremely small that got past the QC checks, perhaps because they didn't know about it, didn't know it would be a problem or maybe because of other issues that didn't catch enough attention to warrant a reaction from Intel's Quality assurance teams.

Not all 13th & 14th gen CPUs are affected. However they do seem to have a serious problem that needs solving. My guess is that they will determine which batches are affected, how they're affected and recall the models affected by the problem.

Needless to say, many people are making a lot of stink over something that very likely minor. Defects happen, it's a fact of life. They do need to handle their RMA process better and make a public statement detailing the situation.

Just curious why it took all this time for Intel users who are having this problem to speak up?

Known good settings are known good. If those settings are no longer good, something is amiss.

Playing with voltage to get it to work right is not a fix, but it is something that we all do.. till that doesn't work anymore.
I mean people can request replacement or go on their social media platforms and make a stink about it.

That 2nd link was interesting, end of last year and the support guy was on no17 of faulty CPU that day. It wasnt until there was someone big who spoke up that suddenly it became a big news item and then you get all the "hey I got that as well". It was exactly the same with the 7800x3d and the mobos overvolting them like crazy, everyone early on blamed the person using the CPU with bad settings etc until GN released their video and suddenly it all changed.

The 3rd guys says he "fixed" his issues with some power limiting actions and reducing max turbo down to 5.7Ghz...........Now 2 weeks ago he is now having kernal panics when trying to do video editing.

The instabilities have manifested not only as the vram warning, but blackscreen crashes in fortnite with nothing in the log. It was from easy anti-cheat including EAC permabans on the affected users. It has appeared as nvme/storage errors. Graphics driver issues. Everything but CPU issues. Until the source of the issues were hunted down by megacorps like Nvidia, and big game companies like Epic.

You are currently observing the backfire effect+survivorship bias. That's not something you can appeal to or reason with. This situation is most unfortunate for everyone affected. Intel, OEM/ODM, S.I., end users, and based on the 5%+ stock slide yesterday after a small rally of late, even the investors. Because legal consideration outweighs technical ones here in the U.S. it is creating an atmosphere of FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt) and for many anger and frustration. The only way that is going to end is when Intel discloses the results of their investigation, and what actions they have already taken, and new actions they will be taking. Hopefully there is a way through that doesn't require reduced CPU and memory settings that amount to product false advertising, or being on the hook for millions more returns, refunds, and for integrators and game companies, attached financial damages.

They should have communicated better with MB manufacturers.

Oh, dang.

I'm doing the same thing that these game server hosters are doing on my 7950x.
Intel needs to step up and fix this. I hope for the best! :toast:
