Need to buy this weekend a gaming laptop. Need. So that means to make a decision fast.

ASUS ROG Strix G16 - i5-13450HX, 16inch, RAM 32GB, SSD 512GB, nVidia GeForce RTX 4060 1200 EUR

Lenovo LOQ i5-12450HX 4.4GHz, 15.6"144Hz, 24GB RAM DDR5, RTX™ 4060 1081 EUR

Acer Nitro V 15 ANV15-51-778C i7-13620H 4.9GHz, 15.6", , 144Hz, 16GB DDR5, RTX™ 4060 1080 EUR

Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 i7-13650HX 4.9 GHz, 15.6" 16GB, RTX™ 4060 1170 EUR

RTX 4060 is as low as I wanna go for the GPU.

Acer Nitro has a horrible monitor. Interior light, or a little bit of sun shinning will make the screen not visible. But it's the cheapest. It also has the lowest Wattage 4060, meaning it will be less than a 4050.

Asus, is expensive, but I get a 15 instead of 17, with the biggest wattage 4060.

Lenovo is balanced. only if I go with the i5-12th gen.

If I go with the expensive Lenovo I do get i7-13th rathen then i5. With less ram and a less wattage GPU. At this point bigger wattage and more RAM is the winner with the Asus.
----------

Help me choose one.

From the specs alone, I'd get the Strix myself.
Arguably, its greatest strenght against all other options here is its beefier cooling. Its i5-13450HX has the same core config (P/E) of the 13620H. 6 P cores should be plenty on any laptop for gaming, 4 E cores should suffice for anything else, so I don't see need for the 13650HX. Likewise, I see the 4P4E of the 12450HX as underwhelming. 32GB of RAM is also great, and I presume its storage is easily upgradeable.

Been reading the reviews on the Lenovo. My God! People are complaining alot, mostly that the thermal paste is useless and needs to be changed immediately

Nothing but good things about the Acer, even tho not one single person comments on the horrible screen visibility.

I really like my Legion Slim 5 Gen 8 14". The OLED 1800p screen and portability were the main reasons I got it and like it. Cons are the glossy screen is unusable outside, the speakers suck, and the 7840HS is locked.

Asus customer support has become so comically bad that I refuse to purchase any of their products- which is a shame because their motherboards are nice and the Asus G14 is a very comparable machine to this Lenovo.

My issue with the Nitro V is that it is the lowest gaming line from Acer, it's almost a rebadged Aspire with stronger CPU and GPU (at least the Nitro 5 were), and that tipically implicates in high temps and other cut corners (e.g. screen quality). Above it are the non-V Nitro and Predator lines.

The build quality of the Acer is likely garbage yes.

Cvrk, what is important to you? Screen resolution? Refresh rate? Maybe squeezing in a 4070? I'm looking now on emag.

squeezing in a 4070 ....is not possible. eMAg is the mos reliable palce to purchase because of the excellent return policy, but ....its not the cheapest.

I need a 4060. The rest I dont care. I am even considering a i5 - 12th gen. Mainly cuz this will be a laptop that will last me 2 years...maybe 3?

I dont need an investment. I need something that will work.

A 4060 wont hit high refresh rate. never. I dont play Counter strike. In single player games this thing barely hits 60 like Spider man etc

a 4060 has 8GB of Vram. This is the minimum for 1080p res. A 4050, considering this a laptop 4050 is bellow 50 frames in most games.

You can take a look here https://www.pcgarage.ro/notebook-laptop/filtre/placa-video-model-rtx-4060/
But PC Garage is scary. They almost dont allow returns. If you get a bad unit, you...are in very big trouble.

Among the 4 listed in your original post and what I can see on emag, I'd do the Asus. It's more expensive and the 512gb SSD would likely have to be added to/replaced at some point, but it will have the best build quality. HP Victus has had significant motherboard issues, MSI build quality is poor, the Lenovo LOQ is their budget lineup, Gigabyte I don't know anything about.

Good luck and let us know what you end up with!

If you're talking the newest games at maximum settings it won't, not without some heavy DLSS frame generation. It can, however, manage ~120+ frames with some tuning or on older titles.
Why would one have a high refresh rate screen if not to enjoy it?

I feel the high refresh rate is a marketing thing. If on the label says "gaming" they will add the high refresh.

You will find this "feature" on everything. On any spec, im talking 2050, 3050, i5-11 gen, 8 GB ram etc.
They give you a bad screen, but its high refresh and of course RGB on the keyboard. Otherwise its not gaming, if you don't have pretty colors

We all know the specs, and unless in my country you pay more than 1800 EUR....there is no need for high refresh.

Or in my particular case, I do enjoy Ultime Chicken Horse, its a fun party game. Im sure in that title I will enjoy the refresh rate :)
