Regarding the recent Intel Core 13th/14th Gen Core desktop processor instability, MSI has worked closely with Intel to understand the situation and is closely monitoring the progress. We will provide the updated BIOS to our customers and users as soon as possible after the new microcode is released in the middle of August. Stay tuned.

Seems like the problem is due to the single rail intel uses. The Pcores and ecores are fine at higher voltages but these higher voltages degrade the cache. This seems to align with some testing I posted a couple of weeks ago on 12th gen, anything at or above 1.4v immediately degrades the cache.

Whoever is experiencing issues with 13/14th gen, try downclocking the cache to 4 ghz and see if it fixes the issues.

Its cya so they can blame intel and not be blamed if their mobos are faulty.

They could refine their Bios so it doesn't exceed Intel's power specifications, like many do.

Seems like the problem is due to the single rail intel uses. The Pcores and ecores are fine at higher voltages but these higher voltages degrade the cache. This seems to align with some testing I posted a couple of weeks ago on 12th gen, anything at or above 1.4v immediately degrades the cache.

Whoever is experiencing issues with 13/14th gen, try downclocking the cache to 4 ghz and see if it fixes the issues.
Probably true. Though both P and E cores dont need to run at that voltage though to be stable at expected performance targets. So if you can keep core voltages from to those levels like that than it should preserve the cache at the same time.

Presets

Intel stock specifications nerf the living daylights out of the cpu. 253w like 13k only CBR20.

Intel extreme spec runs the cpu near old performance values. 288w

MSI extreme is the last alternative, unaltered settings full power.

All defaults otherwise. All of it totally unstable. Doesn't matter which setting. Board came back from RMA, they replaced a cap.

Called them about it shutting off anyways. MSI said ""update the bios, Intel has problems with the CPU stability."" It was fine when sent the board out. B660-G tested the cpu as working good, no stability issues.

Only way to save the board, install factor shipped bios with a programmer and then original firmware and bios release for 14th gen. New fresh windows copy and turn off windows update completely. Cause windows will push ME firmware during updates.

That's where I'm at so far. MSI blames Intel, Intel blames MSI. It's Intel and MicroSoft's fault for updating firmware without permission.

Intel admitted that CPUs have have issues are physically damaged due to overvolting, reducing operating frequency is at best paliative, the CPU will need to be replaced

Extreme spec is not supported on Core i7, and 288 W is still above Intel's Performance spec for the 14700K... looks like MSI isn't dialing it down.

My Apex Encore adheres to these values to the letter, I double checked. Baseline is also not available with KS CPU installed.
