The temps is not my issue, i just see that is weird for me that the VRAM is acumulating, cause when i was in desktop, with very few apps open, the VRAM of the GPU used, was 6GB aprox. Maybe that is normal and i never noticed, but idk

It sounds like your computer is using VRAM exactly as it should. I am not sure what you mean by accumulating.

I don't play League so I don't know what normal VRAM usage is, but as long as your VRAM usage doesn't exceed 12GB there shouldn't be any problem.

Some games will use more than 12gb depending on what resolution you play at, but not many.

Try playing League at 720p and your native resolution. The VRAM usage should differ.

Can't be compared but by pure interest I checked and my desktop VRAM usage is around 6½GB with my RTX 3080. Though I have two 4K monitors so that could also explain something..

I could check what my 2nd PC says with 6700 XT and 2x 1080p monitors too.

Isn't that a bit too much? My main PC uses 1-1.5 GB with a 3440x1440 screen. The living room has a 4K TV and a PC that runs on integrated graphics with 16 GB RAM in it. It also has a 1050 Ti in it, but only as a 3D/secondary and VRAM usage is negligible. It's all Windows 10, though.

~3.8GB usage after minimizing browser windows. Personally I don't care as when gaming, it doesn't affect anyway.

Kinda offtopic but I hate more that my 3080 uses ~100W even on 2D and that heats my apartment after longer usage.

I'm pretty sure that's not normal. Is it locked in 3D mode for some reason?

1.4GB usage with two browser windows with 6700 XT. Maybe dual 4K just eats moar VRAM even in 2d. And no idea why this 3080 sucks so much power, I have nothing else running than two browser windows o_O

Hi! I need some help with something (i don't know if this is the right forum).I have a rx 6700 XT and today i noticed that the VRAM is acumulating, i don't know why or the cause of it, i realised because by playing League of Legends, the fan started spinning due the temperature, and i noticed that the VRAM was using was 8GB, with 60°, i don't know if its the drivers (24.7.1) or what, i closed LoL and the VRAM used was 6GB, and there are just a few programs open, you know something that can help me? ( i use alt+tab a lot, i think is that, but it shouldn't do that, i don't know. I started playing fortnite and i use alt+tab too, maybe it's a bug with Fortnite )
6GB on the desktop after closing lol ? Seems a lot imo, I need to check on my 6750XT what are my VRAM usage without a game open.

Here with a RX 6700XT & 3440x1440 monitor after a fresh restart (W11 pro) VRAM usage around 600 MB and after throwing in a page of Chrome with TPU, around 900 to 1000 MB.
GPU power usage around 6 to 7 Watts.

So yeah, that 6 GB VRAM usage LautaroPRZ is talking about don't seem right.

Same with the numbers Ruru mentioned on that RTX 3080, seem quite high.

some reading stuff I found: https://www.jawa.gg/blog/how-to-clear-gpu-memory/ however with 12 GB of VRAM I doubt you'll encounter these symptoms.

I've never see my GPU under 30 Watt. Is that because I run 2 monitors ?

I've just finished two days of BOINC crunching, and I've got my usage at 2 GB. 6+ doesn't seem right.

Less than 2 GB here, even when I keep a lot of Firefox tabs open for a long time!

Also, only 8-9W idle with a single monitor. (like an LED lamp)

I turn off hardware acceleration in webbrowsers, cpus and system ram are fast enough for it

  • MSI Radeon RX 6700 XT MECH 2X 12G OC Gaming Graphics Card
there was no official water block for it however this card PCB is similar to the Gaming X Trio minus a few components
  • Alphacool EisblockAurora Acryl GPX-A RTX 6700 Gaming X Trio with Backplate
That block so far has worked perfectly.

Pictures here of the block installation

I have a poor sample 6700 XT (Powercolor Fighter, so no surprise) but I'm wondering whether some of it's lack of efficiency is due to the 6700 XT's inherent build differences compared to my 6600 XT, which is quite efficient. Or whether they're due to this brown sample PowerColor. Could someone with a decent 6700 XT run a looped GPU test for a couple minutes (like one of Time Spy's GPU tests or similar) with HWInfo64 open and have a look at the power used by their 6700 XT?

My 6600 XT uses about 30W for all the not-cores stuff as reported in HWInfo with the remainder for the cores, but my 6700 XT uses twice that, about 60W for the not-cores stuff. Seems high for 50% more memory and memory bus than the 6600 XT, like it should be about 45W instead. Haven't tested the 6800 XT yet to see how it compares but maybe that circuitry on the 6700 XT just isn't particularly efficient. Or maybe it's just my 6700 XT sample.

That's about half the non-core wattage of my 6700 XT. I need to go over my numbers again to be sure (not on that PC rn) but this PC Fighter 6700 XT seems like the biggest dud out there.

At the moment I have about a half dozen of programs open, GPU usage is hovering between 0% & 3% with a power usage of ~16W (TGP, of which the core is about 0.5W).
Be noted that my card does not use cooling fans, but if yours use about 45W you'll need hearing protection :D and seat belts .

but this PC Fighter 6700 XT seems like the biggest dud out there.
And I thought my Ryzen 5 5600X CPU was a dud! The meme of a dud CPU core: "Access violation".

My E2180 was a major dud, no question about it! Prime95 errors out at only 3.0 GHz, same at only 2.92 GHz, IIRC! "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" BSOD when running Linpack at only 2.8 GHz at stock Vcore, to top it off! The E4500 that was pulled from an Acer in 2009, was light years better! No errors at 2.8 GHz at stock Vcore and I did 2.997 GHz with no error, likely at stock Vcore, too, with CPU load line calibration.
OTOH, felt like I could still give the E4500 some more!

Compared to OC results over at Igor's, even my Navi10 looked like a dud, too. (RX 5600 XT) IIRC, 2.1 was no go, despite it looking like there were some getting 2.4!

Yeah this GPU is a bad one. I did some extensive testing on it last week after removing it from a PC which needed a more power-efficient solution (it was also performance overkill in that PC).

After undervolting to the 1130 mV curve and +15% power (@212W reported) it can do 2495 MHz in the Steel Nomad test at 1440p DX12. I have squeezed it to about 2530 MHz at 1120 mV in other tests but it's not 100% stable at 1120 mV at all demand levels.

With the 1130 mV UV it will do 2360 MHz at 181W (close to stock power limit), so it clocks even lower than this at full stock voltage. Considering it's rated for 2424 MHz Stock and 2581 Boost, this could be considered defective I guess. I know for a fact it does not ever reach 2581 MHz no matter the settings.

It also doesn't undervolt at the low end particularly well at all with a minimum operating voltage of 881 mV, where my 6600 XT goes to 693 mV and my 6800 XT to around 760 (I forget exactly). So it doesn't clock down efficiently in lower-demand games even at lower clock speeds, so wastes more power and creates more heat.

Attached is HWinfo at 1130 mV UV, +15% power, cores set to 2610 (stock clock) though running at 2495 MHz.

Edit: I compared both charts and you are getting 150 MHz higher with no Undervolt and your cores have more than 30W more available to them because your non-core power usage is half of mine. This PC Fighter is a turd card.

With ~881mV minimum you get ~123W under Furmark2... not sure why you would want to go lower ?
Furmark2mini.png

^Card can do more on frequency at this voltage, I just went for minimum power option (this is reference card no repaste/pad mods).
Sure, less than 885mV would be nice, but if there is hardware limitation of some kind... what else can you do :(
PS. Above was done with 1566/1666 MHz Min/Max frequency range, 920mV selected in Adrenaline software.

Yup I did good in this 6700XT silicon lottery, undervolting however is not it's favourit song, can't get lower than 1175 mV without loosing stabillity. On the other hand, properly tweaked, it runs with ease over 2800 MHz when benching and the VRAM @ 2138 MHz with fast timings. The highest load reached as I recall was somewhere around 230W with Adrenalin tweaking.

Only point of concern is the hotspot temps, but hopefully that improves after I use a Kryosheet or PTM sheet after the annual water cooling loop cleaning session.

Sapphire Nitro+ RX 6750 XT already defaults to 230W. Have it set to 264W for maximum. Beam NG. drive, especially at 3440x1440, means major business, it will easily hit 240-250W.

Thanks for the super screencap, so 887 mV or thereabouts may be part of the general design of the 6700 XT, that's excellent information. FWIW my 6700 XT's efficiency point (max core clock at it's minimum voltage) is 2060 MHz at 881 mV, using about 134W in the Steel Nomad benchmark. It's relatively efficient there, matching the W/frame efficiency of my 6600 XT running at 2550 MHz.

I play a number of 2015-2022 games that don't tax the GPU at 1440p too much and it's a wee bit warm in the afternoons and evenings where I live so reducing power draw is nice if possible. And frankly it's fun to find each GPU's efficiency point and extract the capabilities of a GPU on the top and bottom end. This RX 6700 XT has neither of those lol, while my 6600 XT has both. The 6800 XT has good OC/UV at the top end but as a high performance GPU really isn't at it's best in low lower modes, the wrong tool for that job.

Any idea what could be causing the low score? I believe it should be in the 7000+ territory. Also red devil 6700xt model.
