I agree. 25% better looks good in benchmarks, but you can hardly feel it in real life. Totally not worth spending money on.

Depends what the baseline is.... I def would notice going from 48fps to 60fps which would be a 25% increase.... At the same time I would not notice a 200fps to 250fps which is the same % difference..... I try not to make blanket statements but i would say it makes a big difference what performance you are getting at the start on whether 25% would matter or not.... I do agree though if upgrading people should shoot for 40-50%+ though.

Rumor is a 2k price tag. That's about my limit.

The trick is to sell your current card a few months before launch of the next series. Get 70% return and buy the next one.

I don't skip any series. I wait long after the cards release, a while longer for the TIs and Supers to hit the shelves, and then a little more for the price-dust to settle. If it still doesn't suit my fancy (price/perf), I continue to entertain the idea of upgrading, sometimes long into the announcement of follow-up Gen releases. It's a never-ending cycle of anticipation and hesitation, constantly weighing the benefits of waiting just a bit longer against the allure of the latest technology.

Now if my existing gaming card is falling short of the desired glory then theres no hesitation at play - i just pull the trigger. At the moment i'm running with a RTX 3080 and anything better at this point for me is just overindulgence hence no rush.

You're right, 48 to 60 FPS is something. One needs to factor in the cost, though. If you buy a £2-300 GPU that gives you X, and then you have to get another one later to give you 25% more, you'll have to sell the old one not less than at a 25% lower price to recoup the difference, which I don't think is possible most of the time. Buying and selling computer hardware always comes at a loss (the mining boom was an exception), and with that in mind, I'd prefer my spending to be worth it for a long time. 25% difference will give me the 60 FPS with current games in the above example, but next year, I'll be at 48 FPS again. That's why I'm saying it's totally not worth it.

I don't see it being 2k and offering anything meaningful over the 5090 which will likely be priced 1600-1800.... The cheapest Titans were 50-60% more money than the gaming card directly under them and sometimes only offering 5-10% more performance my guess would be 2500 on the lower end. That would be 55% over the gaming card.

I guess only time will tell lol... The last 2 Titans were $2500-$3000 usd at launch I don't see this much more expensive node producing a cheaper variant.

I might go with a 5080 this time. After I buy a new GPU I will retire this dinosaur and build fresh.

Really depends on if the 50 series can offer me what I want out of an updated GPU—twice the raster perf of my current (3060 12GB), an upgrade to VRAM (>=16GB), and a sane TDP (<260W stock) all at $400 or less. Whether that's from a miraculously good 5060Ti/5070 release or a very pretty discount on a 4070Ti SUPER doesn't matter to me. It's gonna be tough for Nvidia to meet my demands in time when the 7800XT/7900GRE is already creeping toward meeting every selling point and ARC Battlemage is just over the horizon.

Finally skipping the 70ti no Vram edition..... I thought you'd keep that tradition going  :toast:

Technically it was a 4080 for about 5m lol prior to Nvidia going well that's stupid who came up with that shite...

Imagine if they had kept the naming lol we would have had the 4080 super and the 4080 Super Ti lmao as refreshes.....

Eh. The 40x0 series wasn't anything special. I'm sticking with my 3080Ti. I've got zero reason to jump ship and get something new when what I have plays any game I want.

FYI 4070 Ti Super has 285W TDP by default. You can limit it to 260W. Or maybe it's close enough.

For what game?

Christ almighty, you guys got more money than know what to do with?

I am perfectly fine for now. I will only check out the latest Intel GPU once comes out, out of curiosity and testing.

Maybe AMD GPU when it gets better at Ray tracing.
