Not that much, here is my list:

1. Nvidia Geforce 8400GS 1GB (By Jetway)
2. Nvidia Geforce 9800GT 1GB (By Palit)
3. ATI Radeon 5770 1GB (By Sapphire)
4. Nvidia Geforce GTX460 1GB (TGT Charged By Point Of View)

6. Nvidia Geforce GTX770 2GB (ACX SC By EVGA)
7. Nvidia Geforce GTX770 2GB (Titan Ref: Cooler SC By EVGA)

If Intel's Larrabee would have come out as a gaming card it would be in the list. Anything before that list was pretty much Intel's IGP and One VIA IGP
Now to add some more GPUs on my list.

8. Nvidia Geforce GTX970 4GB (Nvidia Ref: Cooler by Nvidia)

Honorable Mention (Used These for a Short Period of Time)
  • Radeon R9 390 GAMING 8GB (MSI)
  • Nvidia Geforce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB (Founders Edition, ASUS)
9. Nvidia Geforce RTX2070 8GB (Blower Cooler Design, MSI Aero)
10. Intel ARC A770 LE 16GB

Well, life is always surprising and I always thought I would keep improving and getting better and higher-spec hardware but I actually did not progress much more from here, 10+ years ago. I work with hardware that on paper does not belong to me, game on a console and had a laptop as a main-machine for the last ~6 years. The update one my side would be:

MSI AMD Radeon R9 280X GAMING 3G (after the HD 5770 was sold and until I built the 1st (gen) ryzen setup)
Sapphire Pulse RX 5500 XT 8G GDDR6 (sold the 280X to get this one which was within 5% performance margin, during full bitcoin craze btw. Waaaay less heat and consumption and 5GB more or vRAM :D)

The TNT2, 5700 and 7900 are the only cards to give me serious trouble. Some of these have been multiple like the 9200 and 7900.
The 6570 and RX 580 have been in service waaaaaay longer than they deserve and I'm still on the 580. I've learned to expect trouble.
The Magnum and AH3450 outlived their purpose.
I don't remember what was picked out when building for others but I mostly stuck to Radeon stuff.

Going back in memory a bit, but I think this is accurate and gets them all for my primary PC (so I won't be counting secondary PCs, or family PCs that weren't entirely mine from before, all of which would have been integrated anyway).

GeForce 4 MX440 w/AGP8x (64 MB) - Unknown brand (2003-ish)
GeForce 4 Ti4200 w/AGP8x (64 MB) - PNY (2004-ish)
Radeon 9700 (128 MB) - Unknown brand (2004-ish)
GeForce 6800 GS AGP (256 MB) - PNY (2006)
GeForce 8600 GTS OC (256 MB) - MSI (very early 2008)
GeForce 8800 GT (512 MB) - MSI (mid 2008)
GeForce GTX 560 Ti (1 GB) - EVGA (2011)
GeForce GTX 970 (4 GB) - EVGA (2014)
GeForce GTS 650 (1 GB) - PNY (2014?)
GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) - EVGA (2016)
Radeon 7800 XT (16 GB) - Sapphire (2023)

Here's the history of some of them.

The GeForce 4 Ti4200 ($20) and GeForce 6800 GS AGP ($100) were gotten used.

The Radeon 9700 was free from a friend of one of my parents (I think they upgraded to a 9800 Pro?), but unfortunately, it ended up having issues before long, so I went back to the GeForce 4 Ti4200. I liked it while it worked. This was back when I was getting into learning about hardware, and something like an Athlon XP/64 and Radeon was probably like my dream stuff haha.

From this point forward, I was building my own PC instead of upgrading OEMs.

The GeForce 8600 GTS was only ever intended to be a temporary purchase. The GeForce 9 series was known to be coming shortly, so I figured rather than getting an 8800 of some sort, I would wait. And... the 9800 GT ended up being a rebranded 8800 GT. Sometimes, waiting doesn't work out.

The GTX 560 Ti was the only (new) graphics card I ever had fail on me to that point, and it did so just outside warranty.

The GTX 970 is crossed through because I never actually went to it, but I included it because I attempted to go with it. I had a nightmare of an experience with coil whine through numerous samples, and even two different models of it.

The weaker GTS 650 is because I needed something for now, so off I went to Best Buy and got the GTS 650 for like $70? Something temporary ended up last a couple of years because I wasn't playing demanding stuff at the time so it worked.

The GTX 1060 might have been the one I used the longest, for over six and a half/just under seven years. I'm sure slowing price/performance gains since then have absolutely nothing to do with that...

The 7800 XT introduced issues from the start. I did an RMA and those were... resolved? The issue went away in all but one scenario, where it still occurred last I checked, so time will tell if this ends up like the GTX 560 Ti did.

It's amusing how EVGA and Sapphire are probably the highest rated brands and I've only had my issues with them. I don't think either brand is actually bad, mind you. I just find my experience unlucky. Thankfully, both have shown great support and that tends to win me over, if you notice how I kept giving EVGA multiple chances despite issues.

I don't upgrade often, I prefer consoles. My crossfire rig was intense and was my peak with PC gaming. That rig also had a 64gb SSD in RAID with a 2tb seagate green drive. That PC was insanely fast, was getting near 100% crossfire scaling in many games. The Geforce 1060ti rig was a cheap setup to replace my crossfire computer because I left it had my friends house for a over a year and he broke it. Very happy with my 6800m in every game I play.

Interesting thread. I'm surprised I missed it, given how much I like to go down the nostalgia lane :D
My list is as follows:
- GeForce 4 MX 440 (ran it overclocked until it died in 2004)
- Radeon 9550
- Radeon X200 iGPU (it was slow, but enough to play Oblivion on min settings)
- GeForce 8600 (a rescue from eBay, had some knocked-off caps, so it's the first GPU I fixed)
... then came the weird period, when I was into OC and frequently donwgraded/sidegraded
- Radeon HD 4850
- 2x Radeon HD3870(Traded my 4850 and some cash for this pair, ran in CF)
- Radeon HD 2900 XT(Bought it just for fun later)
... and now back to normal
- GeForce GTX275 (Was in my first HEDT rig and finally ran Crysis on HIGH)
- GeForce GTX 750Ti 2G
- GeForce GTX950 2G
- GeForce GTX1060 6G
... and now back to the weird period(mining boom, covid, war etc)
- GeForce RTX2060 Super
- Quadro P400 (temporary replacement, since I sold my 2060s for twice of what they were worth new)
- RTX 3060
- RTX 3070 Ti (also a rescue, had faulty PCIe lanes which prevented it from booting on any Intel rig)
- Quadro P400 again
- RTX 3060 Ti
- GTX 1660 Super(downgraded cause all work no play)

Also had a bunch of spare GPUs, extra rigs etc. Just the nature of my work makes GPUs magically "appear" on my desk every once in awhile ;)

Now I'm considering an AMD alternative. I've been with NVidia for many years, but I'll try to restrain myself from writing a lengthy rant on my reasons to not buy their GPUs until things gets fixed or cleared-up. Let's just say, I have a big problem with their "choice of partners".

Matrox G200 8MB AGP

... irrelevant

1723318803370.png

With the G200, Matrox aimed to combine its past products' competent 2D and video acceleration with a full-featured 3D accelerator. The G200 chip was used on several boards, most notably the Millennium G200 and Mystique G200. Millennium G200 received the new SGRAM memory and a faster RAMDAC, while Mystique G200 was cheaper and equipped with slower SDRAM memory but gained a TV-out port. Most G200 boards shipped standard with 8 MB RAM and were expandable to 16 MB with an add-on module. The cards also had ports for special add-on boards, such as the Rainbow Runner, which could add various functionality.
G200 was Matrox's first fully AGP-compliant graphics processor. While the earlier Millennium II had been adapted to AGP, it did not support the full AGP feature set. G200 takes advantage of DIME (Direct Memory Execute) to speed texture transfers to and from main system RAM. This allows G200 to use system RAM as texture storage if the card's local RAM is of insufficient size for the task at hand. G200 was one of the first cards to support this feature[citation needed].

The chip is a 128-bit core containing dual 64-bit buses in what Matrox calls a "DualBus" organization. Each bus is unidirectional and is designed to speed data transfer to and from the functional units within the chip. By doubling the internal data path with two separate buses instead of just a wider single bus, Matrox reduced latencies in data transfer by improving overall bus efficiency. [2] The memory interface was 64-bit.
G200 supported full 32-bit color depth rendering which substantially pushed the image quality upwards by eliminating dithering artifacts caused by the then-more-typical 16-bit color depth. Matrox called their technology Vibrant Color Quality (VCQ). The chip also supported features such as trilinear mip-map filtering and anti-aliasing (though this was rarely used). The G200 could render 3D at all resolutions supported in 2D. Architecturally, the 3D pipeline was laid out as a single pixel pipeline with a single texture management unit. The core contained a RISC processor called the "WARP core", that implemented a triangle setup engine in microcode.

Have played with a few video cards here and there. I mean some don't have a great deal of time spent with. Perhaps got bored with a GPU got a different one or fell through the cracks of time.

This is my hardware library at HWBot. I think this tallies around 200.

As a moderator, I'm questioning you quoting your own post almost twelve years later  Talk about thread necros.

But, given the thread hasn't lost it's relevance, I don't see a problem. But still... 12 years???

Aye carumba.

Ahh, so you have had Radeons lol : )

Had those exact GPU's (good cards) except they were in xfire.

Need to edit my post from page 4. Quite a few more GPU's to add to the list.

Yeah the HD 4890 and R9 290 were much better than their Geforce counterpart at the time.

Back in 2008, my DOTA friend used 4x HD 4870 Xfire, he was getting owned hard, probably due to microstuttering  .

I had the best overclocking experience with 7950 & 7970 Tahitis, because at that time, everybody was engaging into overclocking and I had done lots of serious overclocking-benching-posting scores to compete with other enthusiast during 2014-2016 era. Alongside, CPU/RAMs too, like Sandybridge, specifically Core i5 2500K (4.8-5.1 GHz ) offered the best overclocking experience, at least amongst what I had got. There was so much fun back then. Current era lacks everything.

As a moderator, I'm questioning you quoting your own post almost twelve years later :eek:Talk about thread necros.

But, given the thread hasn't lost it's relevance, I don't see a problem. But still... 12 years???

Aye carumba.
I understand your questioning, reason behind that is simple, yesterday I wanted to start a thread like this.

Then I decided to search if there was a thread already, alas I was part of a thread and the only way I could post in it to keep it going was well.... resurrection.

So instead, of re-typing / copying my previous list of GPUs, I decided to quote it and add on it.

Check list
  • No duplicate post
  • Add on my list with minimal effort
  • Nostalgia
