Just going to list the diy stuff I purchased and built with myself prior to this I had prebuilt computers with both ATI and Nvidia cards. I was mostly a console gamer through 2010 era but I did get a PC for Crysis lol that ran it at sub 30fps maxed at like 720p lmao.... Q6600/8800GT based System. Prior to that I got a decent but overpriced PC to play quake 2 and something around 2003 that I can't even remember the specs of that were both purchased for me.

2010
GTX 580
Radeon 6870 almost forgot this one lol.

2012
GTX 680 x2
Radeon 7970 x2 1 died still the only gpu I've ever owned that kicked the bucket.
I really wanted to test both crossfire and sli is the reasoning for getting these sets of gpu.

2013
Radeon 290X

2014
GTX 970 x2
This was value purchase it was the last time I made that mistake this setup had the worst legs of any generation I owned.

2015
GTX 980 ti

2016
GTX 1080 x2
pour a beer out for sli it died for me after these cards.

2017
GTX 1080ti
Titan Xp
Man I owned way too many pascal cards lol.....

2019
RTX 2080ti
RX 5700XT Just to keep up with AMD drivers and was donated 4 months after purchase was also trying to replicate the black screens but couldn't

2021
RTX 3080ti

2023
RTX 4070
RTX 4090
The 4070 was purchased as a gift but I got to play around with it for about a month so I guess that counts....

2024
6700XT
Needed some hands on with amd gpu drivers and to see first hand if Nvidia was gimping FSR....

I usually have 2-3 systems at a given time so I keep a gpu for 4 years typically a lot of these overlapped each other like right now I have a 4090/3080ti/6700XT based systems although I will likely sell off the 6700XT system soon or donate it to a local boys and girls club etc.

Is a chance I might miss some older stuff (probably ATI somewhere, maybe before 970), but I think something like this.

pre 3D era - cirrus logic (very good for DOOM)
*3DFX Voodoo2 - had to use alongside cirrus logic, if I remember right had no 2D.
*3DFX Voodoo3 2000
Nvidia 5000 series
card from their original 4 number scheme. Cant remember which one. Picked it up casually from PC World, it did suck.
Nvidia 7600 GT - originally brought blower card, didnt like my PC sounding like concord, switched it to AIB fan type.
*Nvidia 8800 GT - this card was really good, loved it.
*EVGA Nvidia GTX 460 1 gig version.
EVGA FTW Nvidia GTX 970 - unstable at stock, instead of RMA, made custom bios to have higher voltages to stabilise and then higher power limit to counter higher power usage from the voltage changes.
Palit Nvidia GTX 1070
*MSI Nvidia GT 1030 - 2 gigs GDDRx version, great card for machines with no iGPU and dont need to game on it. Passively cooled and low profile. Nvidia dont make cards like this anymore, so will never sell it.
Gigabyte Auros Nvidia GTX 1080ti - poor build quality, shroud felt like was made of paper, treated with kids gloves when handling. The performance bios was unstable on the card.
*Nvidia FE 3080 - Incredible build quality, opposite of the 1080ti. This card to me felt quite badly misbalanced on tflops to VRAM capacity ratio.
*Nvidia FE 4080 Super - Much more VRAM capacity vs the 3080 with almost as good build quality, I do feel the cooler is too bulky for the rated power of the card though. Odd design decision to have the power connector right angle out of the card instead of angled like was on the 3080.

Asterisk means I still have card in possession.

Best thread revival in a while. ;)

2001-Nvidia Riva TNT2 (OEM) - Mostly wasted potential. Seem to recall ~zero games actually requiring much graphic capability played.
2005-Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 (OEM) - Minecraft Alpha in 4 block rendering distance and 20fps. 30fps was the normal playable fps of that era.
2008-ATI Radeon HD3650 (AGP) - Upgrade to the above, horribly CPU bound by a Pentium 4.
2008-Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT - Died of Bumpgate and took the laptop to the grave with it.
2012-Nvidia GeForce GT 640M - Notably, run Skyrim just fine.
2017-AMD Radeon Pro 450
2021-Nvidia RTX 3070 Mobile
2024-Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti Super (PNY XLR8)

Not listed: Expectations to and actual enjoyment of slideshows for years, missing out on having a real proper video card till close to the end of gaming life, for what it worth.

I have seen a lot of cards but i used these cards for my main rigs from the first 486 (dunno what card was in the 8086, but it was CGA)

- Cirrus Logic ISA VGA card
- S3 Trio 64 V2 1MB
-Added a Monster 3D II Voodoo2 12 MB to the S3
- Geforce 2 MX400 64MB
- Nvidia GT8500
- Radeon 4870 512MB
- Radeon 6870 1GB (Crossfire)
- Radeon 7850 2GB
- Nvidia K4000 3GB currently in use

In retro PC's cards like:

Geforce MX, Radeon 9800 Pro, FX5500, AMD 7970 DirectCU II, GTX 1060 3GB, S3, Rage II, TNT(2) and a lot more..

- Cirrus Logic Vesa LB 1MB ( ran sim city 2000, doom etc pretty ok)
- Ark Logic PCI card can't remember Vram amount
-Tseng labs et6000, 128 bit 2d card with 3dfx Voodoo 1 and later 2
- Radeon 7000 series card
- Nvidia riva tnt 2
- Geforce 4 400mx
- Gigabyte Geforce 6800 vanilla passive, unlocked 4 pixel pipelines with riva tuner, good times. ( still have this card, not sure if it works)
- Gainward 7800gs AGP, really excited when I got that for Oblivion, BF2 etc
- 7800GT, hard volt modded with Zalman 3rd party cooler
- Ati 3870
- Ati 5850
- Nvidia gtx 960
- 5600xt, unlocked at 2.1ghz using now at 1440p, does the job still for my games
- 6800xt in other machine at 4k, great card overclocks very well.
- wx2100 in work machine that runs windows server

Next I'll probably go back to Nvidia when I replace the 5600xt, need a card that'll fit the same space and max 250w and £300 and give me 165fps+ at 1440p.

Hopefully remember all vaguely correctly!

How did I miss this topic before huh? 'well I don't remember posting here at least'

Anyway I wont count the GPUs from the times when I was sharing the 1 PC in our house with my bro + at the time I had no idea whats what anyway. 'I do recall a few GPUs from those times but not all of them'
I've built my first own PC in 2008 and since that I've had:

MSI 8800 GT
MSI 450 GTS 'this was a replacement card from warranty after the 8800 GT died on me after 2.5 years'
Palit 560 Ti
Gigabyte HD 7770 'emergency downgrade card afther the 560 Ti died on me..'
Gigabyte GTX 950 Xtreme 'this thing still works, sold it to my friend who used it for years and now its his backup card:)'
Gigabyte Gaming RX 570
EVGA GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0 'I kinda regret selling this one.. sold it before EVGA stoped making GPUs'
Asus TuF RTX 3060 Ti 'my current card since 2022 september'

That's... a lot of graphics cards through the 2010s for someone who wasn't playing games as much on the PC.
Have played with a few video cards here and there.

This is my hardware library at HWBot. I think this tallies around 200.
Just "a few" at "around 200", haha. I think the rest of us should go home now...

Meant up till 2010*

Should have said through the 00s.

And really the only reason I stuck with mostly console gaming to that point is all my MP buddies were on console and technically I still game on console just less so. Up till last generation I still owned every console because if you truly like gaming why limit yourself to one platform.

Just PS5/Switch atm I skipped the Xbox consoles for the first time because there really is no point anymore owning them. I've still been temped to grab a series X for the hell of it though lol.

I know right, thats quite a list.
I often check my go to second hand marketplace/forum to see whats up there with the GPU prices and I'm actually considering on picking up something cheap in the ~50-60 $ range later this year just to have a backup card in case my 3060 Ti kicks the bucket for whatever reason since I do not plan on upgrading it till later 2025.. 'doesn't have to be anything special, maybe something low power draw and whatnot, just enough to play retro/indie games'
I really regret selling that EVGA 1070 but I was low on money at the time and I couldn't afford my 3060 Ti otherwise.:( 'That 1070 had the full package, original box with all of its accessories and whatnot'

I too am not sure how I missed this thread...like @Ruru I'll try my best to recount the ownership history as I owned them through the years and not just list the entire current collection. Memory is a little foggy around certain parts... especially the beginning, here we go.

S3 ViRGE/DX 2M+
3DFX Voodoo Banshee 16M PCI
GeForce 2 MX 200 32M PCI
GeForce 4 MX 440 64M AGP
Radeon 9200 128M
GeForce FX 5600 XT 1228M
Radeon 9600XT Extreme 128M
Radeon 9800 Pro IceQ 128M
GeForce 6800 Ultra OC 256M AGP
GeForce 6600GT 128M AGP
Radeon X1950 Pro 512M AGP
GeForce 8800GT 512M
GeForce 9800GTX+ 512M
GeForce 9600GT 1G
Radeon HD4850 512M
Radeon 2x 4870 512M CF
GeForce GTX295 1792M
2x GeForce GTX260 1792M SLI (double memory)
Radeon HD5870 1G + HD5850 1G Crossfire
GeForce GTX460 1G
GeForce GTX570 1280M
GeForce GTX670 2G
GeForce GTX970 4G
GeForce GTX1080 8G
GeForce RTX3080 10G
RTX A2000 6G

At some points I've run multiple rigs but the cards in them are a foggy mess in my mind... and the collection now fills a many a gap in this listed lineup, especially Radeons that I wanted over the years... this list is 26 long and the collection is 120+ now. I'm sure I'm forgetting at least one if not more too.. too early, need coffee.

Ah, okay, I was actually wondering if that's what you meant, but different people have different definitions of what is or isn't a lot so I took it as it was stated.

I originally had through the PS360 era and when I edited it through 2010 I didn't alter the wording lol.

Well, I started on a spectrum :D. We did not really have GPUs back then.
I had a lot of GPUs but my fav few are, and their back stories.
Voodoo Banshee.
My Nvidia 5900XT is still my fav as It was imported from China with a custom bios. I still have it but she died. I will try to resurrect her once I have the time and patience for that.
Gigabyte 6800 passively cooled. What made this GPU special is that you could use Riva turner and unlock 4 extra pipelines.
The RX550 that my mother uses is also one of my greatest. I ate potatoes for a month back then to afford her :D
all my bigger ones are just meh as I do not really play games anymore. Just some old classics. Need to replace my RX470 though as started teaching myself Unreal and the Poor GPU just want to die silently >.<
