For sure and not everyone likes a tall back on their chair, so it's also a matter of taste/comfort.
I had an Aeron (of unknown size) at a previous job and it was good, but the seat back was a bit too low for me and I'm not that tall at 184 cm.
And indeed, one size doesn't fit all when it comes to these things and what I like, you might not.
Not saying the Aeron is a bad chair and the materials used are obviously in a different league from the chair I have, no doubt about it.

Yeah, height, weight and personal preference are factors that cannot be ignored.

I'm about 180 cm and everyone else in my immediate family are shorter then I am. Not sure about the size of my Aeron chairs but they fit like a glove.

Define series were that for the first few models. After R5, they became more expensive and didn't have that good bang for the buck anymore.

In my opinion IKEA chairs offer very good bang for buck, better than most generic office chairs, reasonably affordable and have great warranties (10 years on the office oriented stuff)

Haha, I grew up with what is essentially single seat variants of this. Though the storage was beneath the seat instead of the desktop.

I grabbed a Colamy Kirin as a daily for ~$130 USD when it was on sale and this is excellent bang for your buck. I'm 5'9" and 200lbs (built like a brick ish-house) and I can spend 8 hours in this with no discomfort.

That's insane! True or not, it's also only a thing in the US, office liquidations like that aren't really a thing in Europe as far as I know, everything ends up with refurbished suppliers with prices that are not very appealing.
