So I have this silly idea to ask if it would be a lot to ask for real time clocks on the main tab.
In the place of the base clocks, which the card never seems to run OR in place of the boost clock box where it's no where near the actual frequency.

Probably an easier said than done type of thing, but never hurts to ask does it???

I seem to recall that part of the UI having looked more or less like that since the beginning, from a time when those two - or was there only one - rows really were the clock it boosts to, or stayed at.

Now they are kind of like the MSRP, mostly advisory and not much of it at that. Something showing the current clock in addition could be nice.

Should had made a poll for this one I think.

Ah well, I'm a dreamer any ways. Back to sleep!

That's fine, but only if it can do Max/Avg/Min selection in that new field.
Some will be sad they won't be able to check advertised Base/Boost as easily (after this change).

If this happened I would like it to be optional, or alongside the existing clocks reported, as the existing UI is good for seeing the programmed in clocks on the current profile.

The boost isn't accurate though. Even at defaults, my card "boosts" past the "advertised" boost clock frequency. And the base clocks don't mean anything when the GPU never runs that frequency. (Just saying)

Or keep all the clocks as are, and slip in additional box for actual clocks maybe?

Just an idea. I'm sure it won't come to be, but would be helpful for those in competitive benchmarking having to open more GPU-Z's just to show the correct benchmarking frequency while using LN2 and DryIce, cascade, single stage and even chilled liquid cooling.

You didn't get what I meant.
Some may claim, "Base/Boost" are there to check which vBIOS your card actually uses, and if it's parameters are in-line with what manufacturer lists in product page.

Oh yeah, I see what you mean now. I like to use the gpu-z button to confirm the card before installing drivers and the page lists the clocks. So at least there's other ways to obtain that information.

It's a solid idea, but still not 100% convinced, and a good UI solution must be found

Once real-time measurements are introduced here, people will wonder whether the other numbers are cur/min/max/avg or what "Max Boost" stands for?

This is the way NVIDIA designed their card and boost. The frequencies reported are in the specs and a lot of people are using GPU-Z to verify the specs, so GPU-Z can't just be the only app that claims different numbers that don't match the official values. (These are actual readings from the card, not hardcoded values)

Swap [Nvidia SLI Support] for [Current Clock] with GPU + memory in seperate boxes (Avg/Max/Min as options) ?
Something like this ?

Thank you for taking your time to respond!!

Let's say GPU-Z is very reliable and there's no need for any other application except for what comes with the card purchased, such as AMD and NV's own software. Which hopefully accurately show the specs of the video card.

Maybe a tray icon that shows the current value instead? (Just another silly idea)....

I'm working on a big rewrite of GPU-Z and thought about this some more.

The current plan is to change the display to:
Code:
GPU Clock: x MHz Default: x MHz Live: x MHz
Memory Clock: x MHz Default: x MHz Live x MHz

Base clock/game clock really isn't much relevant anymore and I'll just show the marketed boost. These other clocks will always be available in the Advanced Tab though

Happy to discuss/explain more

Yes awesome. This will be helpful when running the little fur mark stress test that's bundled with GPU-Z. Won't have to open another instance to view the live clocks.

With "live" having option of showing max/avg/min - that would be great.

Personally, I think Base/boost (after OC) should be in advanced (there is no point to them, aside for when trying to figure out if card isn't damaged/reflashed vs. sticker).

What I would like to see :
Code:
GPU Clock [Live] : x MHz; Boost/Default/Rated : x MHz [manufacturer, but adjusts to OC]; Perf cap : Pwr/Vrel(Vop)/Thm/Idle/None (or at least a color bar to check cause of lower GPU clock)
Memory Clock [Live] : x MHz, Default/Rated : x MHz [manufacturer, not adjusts to OC], TDP max. (adjusts based on power slider) : x Watt / Voltage [Live] : w.xyz Volts
[Live] options should be capable of at least locking to Max. and Min. values.

That will be changing, too

Base/boost (after OC) should be in advanced
OC reporting on the 1st tab is essential for the overclocking & tweaking community, who use screenshots of GPU-Z all the time

What I would like to see :
What you would actually like to see seems to be a way to pop out the sensors, so you can have them besides the first tab main window?

Well, I always have to do sensors on seperate window ("poping out" is the same thing), because first tab is useless during undervolting.
Undervolt.png

^1078MHz/1273MHz ? (while GPU frequency is actually "flat" at ~1650MHz mark).
First tab just shows I overclocked memory, and... reduced my GPU's frequency by over 33%.
A simple "max. voltage" box (in this case displaying [0.812V]), would be way more useful to have.
Aside from that, being forced to do two GPU-z windows side by side has a drawback of sometimes simply not fitting on 1080p desktop.

Regardless, I still would love to see at least TDP/TGP rating of the card on first GPU-z page (aside from MHz change).

PS. About "stress test" :
That will be changing, too
I always used PCIe one as a way to check max. boost frequency on GPUs. It works fine for older ones, but at Ampere/RDN2 it fails :(
Had to switch for AIDA64's GPGPU test [Memory Copy], to get back what I wanted (it's fast/quick test, but sadly can't go "indefinitely" as GPU-z test can).

In this scenario, what do you even need the 1st tab for?
?
To show in small window the most important information about card I'm using.
Wasn't that the primary idea of GPU-z existence ?

Full screenshot it was cut from :

Happy to discuss/explain more
I do like how it is now, could you just add a 3rd row for the live values so everyone is happy then?

GPU Clock
Default Clock
Current/Live Clock

As can see in the below image, currently its very useful to see at a quick glance the differential between base values for the product and overclock/underclock. The issue with live clocks if you in power saving mdoe, idle or whatever you see very low clocks, so removing either of these two rows regresses GPUZ in my opinion.

I think your original design choice is solid, and it would be sad if it regressed, so I hope if you add the live clocks, we keep the existing data on the first tab as well. (or keep existing layout as a configurable option).

The bit underneath is after I added a small memory and core o/c to show what I mean.

I do like how it is now, could you just add a 3rd row for the live values so everyone is happy then?

GPU Clock
Default Clock
Current/Live Clock
That is already what I've proposed?

Each clock has its values horizontally now instead of vertical
