This is a old drive, the mechanical disks up soon are 2011 Vintage.

There were two of them, a coolant leak killed one. Now its destined for the shelf until I know there is nothing on it I need.

And the 3TB Hitachi drive, there were two in a RAID 0 for 13 years with almost 10 years of spinning and still working perfectly.

9+ years of being a the OS drive and only 33TB of writes.

It’s why I feel safe to run RAID 1 with two 12 TB enterprise drives for the long term storage of family pictures and such. I have at least 20 of the same 3TB drive in servers for the same purpose at offices for backup of databases and such. And now I have two spares on the shelf.

I hated the death stars, move a PC while it was on and boom, all your data wiped out and if you were really really unlucky a bunch of glass shards that could never be recovered, kinda unlucky and a freezer bag could recover some.
