Which is your favourite controller?

My Dualshock4 had problems, I replaced its stick sensors from a donor XboxS pad and works like new. :)
I ain't no engineer, I prefer to send back the bad product as a stupid consumer :D
Good job btw x)

I have a black Xbox one that I use. We bough it for my kid when we got him the.. I cant remember the version. Its older, and white.. with an S in it.

Anyways.. I kind of like how the elite looks.. but I dunnooo...

When I do use my PS4, I like that controller too.

I never use my PS4 though.

Keyboard and mouse for nearly all games.

For games that work better on a controller, I use a DualSense.

I grew up on PlayStation, so I definitely prefer that layout. I've used DS3, DS4, and Dualsense on my PC via DS4Windows.

I guess the Steam Deck's controls are pretty great, too.

I had to double check cause I think I could blacklist the one who would say that he/she enjoys the Steam controller xD 2024-09-02 05_05_54-Steam Controller Video game controller for the Steam digital distribution ...jpg
I mean...well...you know...

Ofc it's with /s ;)

I also replaced its screws from PS1 OG controller's screws. ;)

I still own an original PS1 controller (or 2 ?) and a Dual Shock, I'm quite sure they are still working perfectly, it was solid in the old age, I didn't have to replace the screws, did you remove them to blow some air or for science ? x)

I have the analog-less (aka original one), PSOne white one, silver Dualshock 2 etc.... aaand all of them work like a charm. :)

So that was for science :p you engineer xD

Gamesir G7 SE. Paddles, high polling rate, and hall effect sticks. The Steam Controller gets an honourable mention, though I wish they'd make a successor with all the improvements from the deck.

DualShock4 for me. Mostly for racing games.
DualShock5 is probably better, but for the short time I have used that I found the trigger vibration to be an extremely stupid design (for the games I play, F1 series at the time), denying any kind of throttle / brake input modulation.

I used to like Xbox360 controllers a lot, but for whatever reason, now I found the Xbox360 controller inferior to DualShock4. Probably because Asian and small hands.

No, I know we are talking about generic controllers, not these controllers for specific types of rhythm games.

Hey, if you have two somewhat working devices, you can most likely combine them and one working one. :D

Ok you are a mad scientist :p
I'm now waiting for you to show you controller mods (frankeinstein controllers ?).
:D

What an abomination, there were controllers like that in the 90s and were meh too

Hey, I made one working controller from two meh-conditioned NES controllers! :)

Xbox One controller. WASD and mouse feel so foreign, even though that's the only way I used to play back in the day.

I do have a GameStop knock off PS3 controller, but in every game I've tried to use it on, the button mapping is FUBAR.

On the bright side, It is durable. I think I've thrown it across the room 2x now and it's still functional.

I use a Gulikit King Kong 2 Pro, mostly for emulation stuff and arcade-y games like Forza Horizon 5 and Project Wingman. Games that are well-suited to the use of a joystick. It's a very satisfying controller to use, especially with the clicky shoulder buttons. My monkey brain is very pleased.

8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired that forgoes rear mounted extra paddles by placing them just inwards of the normal trigger sets.

I called myself playing a team game (cod maybe) with my grandson for about 5 minutes... until I had to call it. I was absolutely useless. After more than 20 years of not touching one, big surprise. He was better off playing on his own.

Leaving behind consoles to focus on other things in life. A few years passed before I picked up a controller for PC gaming. You put it quite gracefully.

In a vacuum, the Dual Shock (1 through 3), easily.

To be more specific, my favorite controller that I ever owned would be the Dual Shock controller from what I believe may have been the PS One. I never had the PS One console (not to be mixed up with the original PlayStation), but I think the controller may have been that one. It was the same White color of the PS One (though perhaps originals came in that color?) and had the same rounded connector where it plugged in, and I distinctly it remember the plastic feeling "softer" (?) for lack of better terms than the original PlayStation controller did. Don't laugh; I loved it for that.

I think it got it separately from a game store around 2000 or 2001. I was just looking for an official PlayStation controller with analog sticks because the two I had comprised of the original PlayStation controller without analog sticks, and one of the infamous clear Blue Mad Catz controllers. I don't even remember what happened to it, but I'm depressed that I ever gave it up. I've been chasing that peak since.

In reality, those don't work as well on a modern PC environment, which is what I play on now. Therefore, I settle for what I believe is the next closest thing, the Logitech F310. It's readily available, it's cheap, and it has both XInput and DirectInput making it very compatible with games and software of today (Xinput) but also of years gone by (DirectInput). It's basically been plug and play in everything I've tried it in, and has the layout I prefer almost exactly. It has no vibration feature, but I can live without that (the F510 did have that feature, but it was oddly discontinued, and the F710 also has it but is wireless and has had issues with its dongle/receiver over the years with Windows 10). I wish they made an F310 or F510 with the color scheme of the F710 though because the color scheme is a bit boring. Not bad... just not as nice as it could be. I'd even pay more for it to be nicer. But the only major gripe I have with it is that I'm not a fan of the DPad. I preferred the one of the older Dual Shock controllers. Thankfully, I just use the analog stick over the DPad 99% of the time.

I wish 8bitdo made a faithful PlayStation (preferably older) controller clone. Their closest thing is just the same as their SNES clone with longer handles and that's not even close to the same thing, at all. I'm sure it's a good controller for what it is, but an older PlayStation controller clone, it is not.

For shooters it is comical watching me circle the screen trying to aim with a controller lol :D

I even laugh at myself.. but I am getting better if I keep at it.

I still prefer kb/m for shooters, but for almost everything else I just use the xbox controller.

PS1 DualShock controller had the best balance, weight, and unmatched d-pad (God only knows how much I miss that d-pad). There has been nothing ever since that has come close to matching the feel. Everything is always way too light(DS3) and some with awkward ergonomics(DS4). If I had to name a controller that has come close it would be the xbox elite series 2 controller, d-pad again holding it back.

That's the perfect description of how I fired around everything but what I was trying to hit. Aaaahhhhh! It was so maddening!

I also have a PSOne controller but as it's not supported in majority of PS2 games, it just mostly collects dust. I play PS1 and PS2 games with a black dualshock2 (I have a silver one too).

I also never had a PSOne since it's just an ugly console and looks more like a toy than something which should be taken seriously. The ugliest redesigned PS after the PS3 superslim.

I just hope they make a "Pro 2C Wired" in the near future. Don't have any illusions the ergonomics and construction will ever be exact equal of those legacy PS controllers.

I actually had a surprisingly good Chinese Dualshock2 clone, too bad that I accidentally snapped its cord so it broke. I was positively surprised that a 5EUR ebay controller was as good as it was.

Luckily I got a real Sony one from a friend with 5EUR. :D
