It's undoubtedly true that Itsuno is one of the key figures behind Capcom's best-in-class action and fighting games. Itsuno is notably known for his good work in the Devil May Cry series, created by Hideki Kamiya, but reaching its peak due to the fact that the Devil May Cry 3 was directed by him. Itsuno is also known for Dragon's Dogma, being his very own dream game, but the sequel turned out to be his last major project for Capcom.

Itsuno posted on Twitter, "At the end of August 2024, I will be leaving Capcom after 30 years and 5 months," "Thank you for your long-term support of the games and characters I have been responsible for. I hope you will continue to support Capcom's games and characters." He also added that he's not done with games yet, but is off to do his own thing. "From September, I will start developing a new game in a new environment. I hope to create fun, beautiful games that are as memorable as, or even more memorable than, the ones I have created so far."

And yeah, we all look forward to those games of his, after all, Itsuno has certainly been involved with some memorable games with Capcom. And considering the fact that one of his first games with Capcom which he co-directed, Street Fighter Alpha, turned out to be an excellent success, that alone proves his talent for being a "fighting game enthusiast" dev (which was the basis on which he joined Capcom).

It was all due to the fact that Itsuno was dissatisfied with Devil May Cry 2 that made him request to lead the development of the DMC 3. DMC 2 was mess when Itsuno was called in to take on Development of the game at the latter stages.

"The final days of development on DMC 2 were wild", recalled Itsuno, "I joined the team right near the end, as the deadline was approaching, and it's no exaggeration to say that every available staff member was mobilized. They even recruited non-team members such as myself. [...] DMC 2 just yanked out all these members from other teams who had been busy working on their own projects."

At the end, he was credited as director for DMC 2 which he was dissatisfied at the result and with that he went on to lead the development of the now excellent DMC 3, from start to finish. The game later turned out to be one of the best hack-and-slash games ever made.

He went on to direct other games and also those in the DMC series and after DMC 4, he got the chance to develop his dream game, one of his original ideas, a medieval fantasy RPG with a Greco-Roman bestiary and styling, the Dragon's Dogma sequel. And the Dragon's Dogma 2 was his last major title for Capcom, which is now said to be his sign-off from Capcom.

His games are always top-notch and what he would do next will certainly be groundbreaking, you can quote me on that.

Not wholly surprising considering how poorly received Dragon's Dogma II was, but very disappointing nonetheless. I hope the Devil May Cry series will be okay without him.

I think this isn’t a surprise to people who followed his career? It was leaked by insiders a while ago that Itsuno wanted to go do his own thing for a while, but Capcom really wanted him for DMC 5, so he stayed on a condition that he also would be able to do either a Dragons Dogma 2 or a Rival Schools sequel. We know what he picked now, obviously, but now that is done I guess he is free to do whatever. I think he also mentioned that he feels that the team behind DMC 5 specifically was picked by him so that in the case of his departure they could continue the series without him.

Depends. The microtransactions are still there. It was somewhat of an overblown reaction, they are no more invasive than those in DMC 5. The whole hysteria was kinda weird.
Performance though… yeah. The game is somewhat better now, but still runs rather poorly. Guess RE Engine didn’t fit the scope of the game. It’s playable on decent hardware, but the performance you get absolutely doesn’t correlate to what you expect seeing the game, it’s hardly a graphics powerhouse.

Oh, damn, I am sorry. Lemme try that again.

*ahem*

What the hell, Capcom? More like CRAPcom, amirite? Microtransactions? Ones that I have no reason to buy if I just play the game? This is blatantly Pay 2 Win! This is outrageous, it’s like they made a mobile gacha game! I haven’t felt this fleeced since I spent 500 bucks in Fate/Grand Order and STILL haven’t got my waifu Astolfo! I will refund the game and make an hour long YouTube video about the downfall of gaming and how this is all obviously a conspiracy of plutocrats against ordinary people.

And the performance is SHIT. SHIT, I TELL YA. It is all the ploy of NGREEDIA and the leather jacket Satan in order to sell more RTX 6090 cards, cause you LITERALLY cannot play the game without relying on his FAKE RESOLUTION and FAKE FRAMES. All the developers are in his pocket, this is obvious. WAKE UP YOU SHEEPLE. If you all bought more excellent cards from AMD this would not have happened!

Posts like this are why I signed up here. It's refreshing. I need something to cleanse my palette after reading comments at WCCFTech. :banghead:
