Have kept my bios up to date and have had no issues running 4 DIMMs at their rated speeds. maybe I'm lucky.

Reverse fans down there. Made me scratch my head for a while.
Yeah, maybe i should take a photo with the fans not spinning to clear up confusion lol.

Testing SoundBlaster Z that just arrived, at first I thought this won't come close to my modded X-Fi Titanium HD (metal can opamp, precision TCXO clock, tuned line out). Turn out I was wrong. The headphone out can drive my Sennheiser HD555 (modded to 595) like it was nothing. Headphone out on Titanium HD was crap to be honest, there isn't any amp there just an opamp to drive headphone. This Z is the real deal I can really hear the dynamic range vastly different like hearing through speaker.

Line out to speaker wasn't so bad too, since Creative opt to use CS4398 DAC which they put on X-Fi Elite Pro before. The details is there but it's a bit muddy though, the crappy G-Luxon capacitor is to blame, I'll try to recap. Using ASIO and Direct Mode in Command control panel really means pure line out with no processing as the software volume didn't work anymore.

Big plus in this OEM version there is no bright red LED on the PCB yay and no big flashy red housing, on bad side it uses G-Luxon crappy caps instead of Nichicon Gold. Funny thing is you can see my onboard sound uses Nichicon Gold caps

Flash back eh? With all the electrical noise in PCs, I switched to an external DAC via fiber optic or USB for my interface. The noise floor is much lower.

It wasn't bad, As much as I like having USB DAC I don't like to have another device on top of my desk. Just another thing my kids gonna poke their finger on

I just use this to relocate the soundcard on bottom slots to reduce noise and to reduce GPU temps under load. Problem solved :p

Redone the fans, spaced at 140mm (fan cables trimmed as well) incase i want to swap to 140mm in the future (probably not), but i like this look better than hugging them together. And a new GPU shroud, which is now boxy instead of angled. And yes, it's still made out of thick black cardboard as i don't have a 3D printer :p It looks better behind the tinted glass.

Damn man, that's one good looking build! Buttload of money on just the fans ":D".

More changes. Swapped in my RTX4070 Super in my tinker rig. Had to move Optane block fittings and my OS Optane as there just isnt room. Vertical it is. I need to rearrange the hoses yet. I just wanted to run some tests quick before I finalized the set up for playing COD (I usually play on a 12700k, but thats going into workstation duty). I need to get a new 16 pin connector as well, this one is flaky at best, so a Corsair OEM replacement is coming. Unfortunately the frame drops are tough on this system during big explosions, etc in multiplayer. My PC settings are as follows: 12600kf 5.4ghz x2/5.2ghzx4/4.0ghz ecore, no HT, bdie 4000mhz CL15, twin Optane 900ps.

Testing SoundBlaster Z that just arrived, at first I thought this won't come close to my modded X-Fi Titanium HD (metal can opamp, precision TCXO clock, tuned line out). Turn out I was wrong.

The lack of PCI slots is the most serious problem when you try to put an old soundcard to a modern setup. Even Audigy2 ZS worked fine on Win10 when I tested it with an older platform and modified drivers.

Yep, I also have the OEM version without "DA SHIELD" and leds :D best bang for buck in a while. It gets the same driver/interface as the current AE-generation. Meaning we get the same treatment as current sound cards from Creative. I was tempted to replace it recently as I found AE-5 PLUS for €50 and selling mine, "the upgrade" would cost me something like €20, but I see people arguing whether the AE-5 PLUS really is an upgrade....and I said to myself ...not worth the hassle. Only thing is "the door" for the toslink on mine broke. Terrible latch on mechanism on toslink in general, how no one changed that standard is beyond my understanding....
