I'm quite happy with my 6800xt, but I've wandered into the possibility of going from 2k144 to 4k144, and boy does 5090 sound like fun. I could do watercooling again too.

I've been full AMD since polaris but I may have to switch back.

Having DLAA/decent RT is nice too, I assume you care about IQ since you are moving to 4K.

Perhaps in the future. Right now nothing I play uses either. Thing is, even modded Deep Rock Galactic or just Civ VI maxed out seems to tax the 6800xt a bit too hard, cant maintain 144 now and moving to 4k will only make it worse.

If I get into the new warhammer or something similar I feel its going to become more evident.

Oh ok, I thought you were saying I was saying that. Sorry about that.

Class in GPUs died together with the Titan name, imo. Even a x90 GeForce card is just a consumer product like any other.
Titan name stopped meaning something long before the name was dropped. It was better they dropped the name and stopped pretending to be honest.

Benchmark Scores Benchmarks in 2024?
The 5090 will be perfect for gaming outlets to nerdgasm over incredible next-gen graphics that regular people will not be able to see with their 5060s having 1/4 the horsepower and their 5070s having 1/3 the horsepower.

That seems like such a wide gulf between the 5090 and 5080, unless the 5080 is a quarter of the price... it won't seem worth it
Another sucky 80 card, whats new? They only care for the top of the line sadly...

The more frames, the higher the consumption. I've been turning on V-sync for a long time in every game. When the frames are over 200 or over 300 or more, the graphics consumption is over 300W. When V-sync is on, graphics consumption is below 100W. And what to say to all that? Is there a need for the frames to be over 60. How many frames per second is the human eye capable of processing?
I do the same thing. My card runs cooler and silent that way. I do have 240hz monitor, but i honestly dont care about anything past 60 fps. In fact, 120hz feels great but i dont like how high the temps go. Also Wats. Power is not cheap here. Yes, i got money for 4090, it's a 1 time purchase, but electric bill is monthly and giant. V sync all the way!

No, those specs are for an RTX 5070.
No way the 5080 will have those overly shitty specs.

I'm gonna be real with you, whether I get a 5080 or a 5090, i'm gonna play Honkai Star Rail and Genshin Impact on it, so whatever

I'm going to stand by my previous post because of the following.

The AI fad is nothing more than the next biggest widget for corporations to buy into and back fill with billions of dollars to make it (AI) work.
AI will not be the golden apple of what they are pushing.

Why would they bring out any new video card when they can continue pushing the current generation and milk it as much as possible? T-here is no real competition coming from AMD in the high end.

IMHO THIS is why the 5090 has been suddenly been mentioned. They need the money to keep their stock from sliding even further. Around a 40% of losses of stock prices from their highs. Otherwise the 5000 series of cards would continued to be shelved at least another 6+ months from now.

Remember they are the ones that branded themselves as an AI company. The irony is that an infusion of money from their Video Card Division to continue this illusion of them to be an "AI" company.

They are banking on the Loyal people who drank the green coolaid to by their new shiny.

And rightfully so.

Everyone will go ape about the TDP, but forget how crazy efficient NVIDIA is.

I run my RTX 4070 Ti at 175 Watt (Default 265) and only lost 5-6% performance.
My AMD is even more efficient, my RDNA2 chip is golden, OC and UC so good with very little voltage !

Once I've purchased and secured my 5090, I will begin building my 15900k liquid cooled, 64GB DDR5, 8TB SSD, 1000W monster machine.

Tax Season is looking bright!

I imagine how the computer with 5090 and some flagship processor heats the part of the room where the desk is and I start to sweat in advance. /s
And I begin to insult anyone's understanding of efficiency.
