I bought a pair of edifier 2000DB speakers on sale to replace my 17 year old Logitech THX speakers. They will be here tommorrow I figured a new build requires new everything as I,ll be retiring in 2 years So now's the time.View attachment 362708
Had the R1855DB, they were a fair amount larger than I expected them to be.
Also, moved country and the speakers had the wrong plug, due to stupid captive power cable...
Sadly only really basic Bluetooth support, otherwise not too bad.

I'm not so worried about the Bluetooth support. That may occasionally get used with from my phone but I'll either be using the optical or the line inputs. From what I have read these are suppose to be a rather decent upgrade from the lower speakers. I'll know by later today anyway . They are out for delivery and to be honest the old Logitech don't sound too bad but I'll replace them with these, tear the Logitech apart replace the volume control and thermal paste and the electrolytic capacitors in the base unit and give it to my niece for her laptop.

Yeah, no issues with the physical inputs. I'm surprised the ones you order have a cheaper remote than the ones I had though.
Some of their products don't quite make sense feature wise.

They have some nice remotes but I wasn't going to spend another 150 dollars on computer speakers to get it I like the round one they have anyways I was also thinking about something like this so I wont even need the remote if i use the line in.

Very nice. Just enough of it for a cohesive, clean and somewhat natural look. I like it and could see it in production. Well done.

How exacting in your use of replacement pot and caps are you intending to be?

New AiO Thermaltake toughliquid 360 Ex pro and Thermaltake toughfan Ex 14 pro 3-pack .

We have a ghetto mods thread for this type of lowly unrefined outcomes. :p

This was very nicely accomplished and has a large visual improvement over the stock case.

I cant see the capacitors being an issue at all but the volume pot is pretty scratchy so I'll source a replacement for perhaps sayal or some other parts store online. I wont know how exact i can be with the pot until I get it out of its enclosure. I will look through the ghetto mod section and take a peek Its a good speaker just gotten old and I want something a bit better in the midrange and highs then what the Logitech's can provide. That's the old Logitech's that I have They have been good speakers and the volume control is of coarse mechanical and prone to issues.

Forget the false trail to ghetto mods at laughably well accomplished metal/wood case mod.

Reason I asked is Logitech are low end speakers that are also intricately designed by some highly accomplished minds. Meaning it is not the cost of parts used but the balanced qualities of them as a whole. For all I know a direct replacement will be available for parts you intend to replace. Just thought it an interesting electronics project worth asking a bit more on.

They are no were near my home audio speakers Not even on the same planet really but for computer speakers those Logitech's were very good yes all plastic but the sound was decent as long as you didn't get stupid with the volume control . I expect the edifiers to be a large upgrade of coarse. I don't expect to get the sound quality of the MartinLogans but I do want better then the Logitech's. Anyway its only a pot that needs replacing on the pod and that's easy peasy as long as I can find a pot that fits.

Have you tried to adjust the graphic equalizer in the audio control panel? That fixes it by a long shot, in my experience. It often sounds like dogwater at default.

Oh yes I've had them for so long 17 years maybe 18 years but they most definitely do have short comings even when equalized All speakers do but don't get me wrong they aren't bad speakers but they now need some work and will find a better home with my nieces laptop I got the edifiers I,ll hook them up tonight but for now I'm off to bed I still keep a night shift schedule even though I'm off this week.

I've just ordered the 7600X and 7600 XT, along with the ultra compact 5.4 liter SFF case, the Midori 5L. It will serve as my secondary gaming rig in the bedroom when I want to enjoy some casual gaming from the comfort of my bed.

Edit: My primary gaming setup consists of the 7800X3D and 7900 XTX.

Then you're in for a nice surprise... :) Those Eddies have an integrated DSP. Bye bye distortion, hello insane sound effects.
Speaking from experience, my Soundcore 3 speakers I use in pairs (I have 4 of them), often cause people searching for the sound source with a huge question mark above their heads... Explaining what a DSP is, doesn't help for most. They sound in the ways they shouldn't.

I needed a radio for my small workshop and found this funpart with the works; BT, USB, Tuner, buildt in pre-set EQ (Medion Life P61522 party speaker):

medion ps.jpg

According to my wife I was probably in a temporary state of mental bafflement  , but it sounds nice enough for just some music at work with plenty of options. Besides radio on the FM band I can use Spotify with BT and MP3 from USB.

Best feature, you can switch off the LED's .
Worst feature (for the neighbors), it has a karaoke mode o_O, I pity them whenever I'm drunk enough to try that out :D.

cons compared to the 4 time cheaper model i already have: no auto reverse is the only cons ... no BT no FM i don't really care :D
pros well ... 1800mAh battery and 13hrs advertised playtime is the main one :D

the head they use is good enough and they use a JRC5532 OpAMP (which mean it can drive all my IEMs and cans without the need of an external Amp )

just need to tune the azimuth a bit, but straight out of the box it sound quite good with the Wan'er, Chu II, DB2 and

well i am defo using these with the CP13, they sound quite good and the cable is not bad at all ... tested all modes and they indeed sound different enough to be relevant depending on the cassette i play

the carry pouch is good enough, nice selection of eartips (tho i might use the one i use with the NiceHCK DB2 ) and a ... sim tray ejector? ohhhh to set the switches

really like the faceplate (less fancy than the DB2 or the Wan'er but still neat ), they use a dual in-line DD? and metal nozzle? 13chf? well, i'd be lying if i said i was not impressed

ND is, unlike NiceHCK or Tangzu, a brand i never heard (pun intended) until it popped in my recommended selection

@GreiverBlade , you are clearly an audio connoiseur with nostalgic feelings.

Just wondering, are there still high quality cassettes available today, so it gets close to present digital standard?

Anyway enjoy the goodies.

well i popped some of my old cassettes in (Meat Loaf : Bat Out of Hell aaaahhhh what a blast!) and some i bought on AliExpress which are unofficial iirc that i already mentioned here in the thread (never heard of Imagine Dragons : Evolve in cassette medium  ) Queen best of and Guns'n roses sound quite better on the CP13

and i am currently hunting on the local Swiss Ebay (Ricardo.ch) for some

wish me luck :D
Screenshot_20240910_225920.jpg

to me it's a bit like why i like tube Amp (even the odd modern chinese one from PJ.Miaolai) the sound of these things make me smile widely :D

Listen carefully when I say this: No!

Nothing analogue will ever get "close" to modern digital. They never did and never will.
yep indeed, tho the feeling listening to good analogues media is precious and priceless ;)
