I agree with you about memory context restore. It causes nothing but problems. This is one of the reasons why it isn't enabled by default.
Yes, but the weird thing is that there is no issue when you perform a shutdown and power up, only when you reboot. I don't think this is related to fast boot in Windows since it hangs on memory training?

The only thing I dislike about the board is the bottom RGB panel and Gigabyte Control Center.

I think it's enabled by default on ASUS ("Auto")

Auto can be either way, but it doesn't seem (to be enabled by default) for the Hero or Gene. Can't speak for the rest.

My Strix E does not have it either. I just have the first Expo profile enabled.

When I try to restart the pc, it never posts. Bios is not loading, no screen, stays there forever
This reminds me of a very-strange issue that my Asus A7V8X-X developed, (2003, Via KT400) where if I used an older T'bred with an unlocked multi and the multi is not at the default, the exact same thing happens, just a black screen on reboot! So, that was with socket 462. Happens when I drop the CPU core multi, even with FSB stable!

Now, back to recent-era-hardware:

Have you tried power cycling the monitor while it's supposed to reboot? There seems to be a very strange issue where some monitors crash on display mode change.

I noticed an issue with my Samsung Odyssey G40B, where it seems to give up, unless I power cycle it during a UEFI-BIOS reboot! Note that the monitor also seems to have an issue, where it may crash the system during a display-mode-change!

When i was first booting my machine in expo mode before i updated bios to the most recent it took over 3mins to boot...Now on latest bios and a few restarts later it is down to about 1min, on default ram speed at 4800 it is near instant. (7800x3d 32gb x2 @ 6000 cl30 MSI x670e)

We would need to know exactly the memory you have. Single rank and dual rank modules make a difference in max operating frequencies.

Max. overclocking frequency:
• 1DPC 1R Max speed up to 7800+ MHz
• 1DPC 2R Max speed up to 6400+ MHz
• 2DPC 1R Max speed up to 6400+ MHz
• 2DPC 2R Max speed up to 5400+ MHz
Double check your Ram modules for the above chart and see where you fall into spec. Then see what you can do from there. I suspect you are running 2DPC 2R modules. You might want 1R modules instead. (1R/2R means Single or dual rank dimms.)

I wanted to chime in here and add that I purchased my current set of RAM in July of last year. It's G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo, part number F5-6000J3636F16GX2-TZ5NR. I bought the kit alongside an X670E Hero board. No matter what I did, the kit absolutely would not POST when any EXPO profile (on ASUS there's EXPO I, EXPO II, and EXPO Tweaked) was active, even though the RAM was on the QVL (which, I know, means very little in all honesty), but would boot up just fine when EXPO was disabled. I returned that board and got the X670E Aorus Master from Gigabyte. Now, oddly enough, that board was able to POST with EXPO enabled without issue. But other problems cropped up recently, and I was very recently forced to replace my board.

I'm back on ASUS now - reluctantly, given all the crap they've been pulling in recent months - this time I'm on an Strix X670E-A. When I got it, I promptly updated the BIOS to the newest version (as it came with BIOS from 2023) 2308. Getting my RAM to post with EXPO enabled has largely been hit or miss in the couple weeks I've had this board. I've tried stuff I found on reddit from people having the same issues, but didn't feel very comfortable tweaking certain things (and I'm still not), and while one thing worked (can't remember which one it was) one day, the next day it wouldn't and I'd have to use the RAMs default speed if I wanted it to POST successfully. I'm honestly not sure anymore if my RAM is faulty (to my knowledge, that kit is Samsung-based) or just doesn't play nice with ASUS boards given that the Master had no problems POSTing with EXPO enabled.

Just a quick update from my side. I switched to a different RAM kit and the issues are 100% gone. So there is definitely some RAM compatibility at play here. Initially I was using the G-Skill F5-6000J3038F16GX2-TZ5NR kit and having constant boot issues with my 7950X3D and X670E Taichi. Switched to the Corsair CMP32GX5M2B6000Z30 and the boot problems are gone.

So I have a bit of an update on this problem, or a problem that could have another root cause but giving the same symptoms.

ASUS found out that some monitoring and/or RGB software running on Windows can prevent your computer from properly rebooting, they came up with a workaround:
1730481337496.png

I spoke with someone at AMD and they're not convinced this is an issue in AGESA.

If you're experiencing a reboot issue, it could also be caused by improper VDDIO, VDDP and VDDQ.

Depending on your BIOS vendor, it could also be a mismatch between Power Down Enabled and MCR. I would just leave both on Auto tbh.

Rolling in here to report the same issue. Strangly this has been caused by a CPU upgrade.
7800x3d
B650e Tachyon
48gb (2x24) Corsair 6000CL30's (CMH48GX5M2B6000C30)

Running perfect for the last 6 months with buildzoid easy timings (these sticks are Hynix M die)

Grabbed a 7950x3d for a good price (I was missing some cores for some of the video editing/code compiling stuff) and now it won't warm reboot.

Cold start all good, and when running bios default's it's all good. Bus as soon as I enable XMP, or turn on PBO (without xmp) it's joever.

It's very strange too, The CPU/DRAM lights blink alternating, and the post code screen is blank, with no codes, and it starts VERY quickly after the system restarts.

Luckily I've got 2 other AM5 system here I can swapsies some parts around to see whats happening, but this is bizarre. Once in windows, all seems ok (but haven't done any gaming sessions yet, or long term stability testing.

Reset the cmos first, then do a bios reflash, seeing a lot of gigabyte mobos being bad recently.

Unstable during memory training most likely. But when it posts, get into windows, is it at XMP or defaults?

Yes, I experienced this yesterday when upgrading the bios on my B650 Aorus Elite from F32d to F32f, the board gives me a checksum error msg when attempting the Q-Flash bios function for reflashing the bios. I also tried downgrading the bios to the previous AGESA version but the same error msg was obtained. No stress though, looking forward to B850 boards & what they bring to the table soon. It's just a bit annoying atm.

That totally is bollocks, might aswell sell it for donor parts only.
