Anyone willing to fill me in what is so bad about this advert?

Will amd be releasing this chip or something close to it to the consumer pc market?

What, beyond the obvious racist overtones?

GPU-wise it's probably similar to the second or third tier RDNA 4, CPU, get a 3800X I guess

Not veru creative with new design. Was hoping for a all Black something and compact with maybe some liquid cooling. Still I think the Ps3 was the best designed the paino black was so nice. Ps2 was also nice. Ps4 was meh ok but PS5 ugly white. Hoping their deisgn people make something cooling for the PS6 which is comming soon now. Maybe make a BOX with a Halographic display inside it.

Also wish Sony would get their act together on older and new consoles. I do not want to have a Ps3 and PS5 on the same desk. I want a Ps5 that plays all ps1 ps2 ps3 ps4 and ps5 games done and done. With the EMU's out today it could be done with a single OS add on.

If i remember correctly ps4 pro launched at 400€ and at the same time Sony dropped the price of PS4 to 300€.
PS5 digital launched at 400€ then they launched the slimmer 1TB PS5 digital at 450€ and now PS5 Pro (digital) is 800€ lol.
Even with only 100€ difference PS4 was selling 5X units vs PS4 Pro, I really hope PS5 to outsell PS5 Pro with at least 10X ratio (i really hope 20X) What a ridiculous price point, +350€ for what it should have been +150€!
Now is the right time (i know, wishful thinking and way too early for that) MS to "reassure" that their "plan" is to launch Xbox Series X successor in Q4 2026 at the same price as Xbox Series X ($499) and make a clever video trolling Sony like the one Sony did with Shuhei Yoshida:

I feel like they should have at least upgraded the cpu to zen 3, but who knows what their marketing strategy is on releasing the ps6 and what the retooling costs would be at the factory.
It seems half baked to just do a big gpu upgrade with that zen 2 cpu.

You camped outside an EU microcenter or what? The card & CPU itself cost more than €800 combined & no way 32GB RAM+2TB SSD cost less than €200 today!

Unless of course you got them on sale over the last year or two?
4070ti Super is recent as well as 5700x3d CPU. DDR 4 Ram is really cheap as well as 2TB SSD. Now with a 4070Ti Super it’s more likely $300 more than a PS5 Pro but with a 4070(or cheaper, RX 6800 non XT) is definitely cheaper than the PS5 Pro with a disc drive and stand.

GTFO with that shit! I have a huge bluray collection & decent sized game collection, obsolete my ass.
I agree, having a bluray drive isn't obsolete, and no one is forcing those that don't want it to use it. It baffles me that people are "glad" to have less features though it seems those people eager to dump physical media are the loudest so companies listen to them. I'd personally rather own my movie collection than constantly pay to rent it and have something get taken away.

Sony fanboys are having a meltdown and still believe that the PS5 Pro is a better value than a PC…but yet I see this here and found some PC parts that are comparable(except GPU and CPU as they are vastly superior)

RX6800(60 CUs like the PS5 Pro) $360
AMD Ryzen 5700x3D: $150
AM4 mother board :$75
Ram: $50
PSU: $100
2TB Storage SSD: $125(actually found some cheaper for less than $100 but let’s assume M.2)

Case: $50
BLU-Ray disk Drive: $70
Total: $855

PS5 Pro: $700
Vertical Stand: $30
Disk Drive: $80

Total cost: $810 Dollars and that doesn’t include PS+ to play online

I had to add a BLU-Ray drive just to make it fair and it’s ever so slightly more expensive but you get a whole lot more with the PC. Also most PC users don’t use BLU- Ray players(unless your like me and burn video onto BLU-Ray discs)

I for one am glad this has no disc drive. Optical media is an obsolete medium for game distribution, and the omission of an optical drive on a Pro console is perfectly acceptable and understandable. The PS6 and the next-gen Xbox should drop optical media entirely. If "offline distribution" of data is a must, then games should come on micro SD-like flash media cards.
"I love when multi billion dollar companies remove my ability to enjoy my media without their permission and make my console a brick once support is dropped, I enjoy not owning anything and being forced to overpay for streaming rather then just owning what I like"

Imagine living like this. Digital "ownership" is not ownership. The removal of features and enforcement of walled DRM gardens should not be celebrated.

The cost of the PC doesn't include a monitor, the cost of windows, or a mouse + keyboard. The PC isn't a better value when you have to go for last gen parts either.
And the vertical stand isn't required to use the PS5, nor is the disk drive, but IMO unfortunate the PS5 pro is more expensive and Sony decided to remove the disc drive, but not surprising since its the same company which took away content people paid for, I'm sure Sony would do it again.

Discs no longer contain the full data required to run the game, and basically just work as hardware DRM authorization keys. The capacity of a Blu-ray disc isn't enough to fit a modern game and the data read speeds are dreadful. I get some people have material attachments - but we live in the age of affordable 1 TB micro SD cards. Surely they can modernize physical data distribution if keeping these around is so important to some. It's even possible to make a modern cartridge that will also accept title updates being written directly to it.

Most PCs no longer have ODDs, and imo, other than audio and movies (static content that never changes), DVDs and Blu-ray discs are no longer needed.
Most PS5 games are on the disc with a few exceptions. What you've described is more indicative of Xbox Series physical titles. "Smart Delivery" isn't the great feature they make it out to be, at least if you are into physical games. The disc just tells the console which version of the game to download.

As for the topic, I literally broke out into laughter when I saw the PS5 Pro's pricing. It's over $800, pure insanity. Sony thinks they are slick. Passing off a $300 price increase as a $200 one. The all digital PS5 launched at $400. The all digital PS5 Pro is $700. I mean the cheap bastards couldn't even toss in the vertical stand. You'd think they launch along some game that shows what the hardware can do, but they've got nothing. Sony keeps blurring the line between PC and Console. The more expensive and complex they make their consoles, the less daunting PC gaming seems. Sony's trump card was their exclusive games but now they are porting those to PC. While that isn't a big deal for the casuals, it tells hardcore gamers like me to not buy your console.

It's probably RDNA 3.5 is my guess with bespoke accelerators exclusive to Sony.

Looks like even Sony got tired of FSR lmao.

It does seemingly have 60 compute units I doubt whatever RDNA 4 has will get more than that.

So DF comparisons should be interesting once it releases.

At 600 usd it would probably be a day one buy for me at 700 usd I'll have to think about it at a min should be like having a 7800XT in a console but probably slightly bettet than that due to less api overhead which is cool I guess.

It's not terrible even if it's only 7800XT level GPU performance but it's expensive for a console the last time Sony released a 700 usd console (ps3) it didn't go down so well.

Ya, I think the exchange rate to other countries is going to hurt as well. That would be about $960CAD not including the 13% tax. Think I paid $320CAD for the xbox series S last year.

The price in USD is without tax. I checked exchange rates for € and €800 is a lot for a big paper weight. It would turn into that, just like my PS3 did. The console games are so repetitive in their design, I simply lost interest. Once I got older buying a gaming console, regardless of the manufacfurer, is a waste of money.

Sony has never released a console for more than $599 in the US. The PS3 launched in 20GB(no wifi) and 60GB(with wifi) models for $499/$599.

I think 599 was actually harder on the wallet in 2006 than it is in 2024.... I guess it just felt equally expensive lol.

800 spread over 36 months until the PS6 hits the shelves down to 500 after resale resulting 50 cents a Day when you are probably carelessly spending $5,00 on snacks or whatever. So you are arguing about cents on the dollar actually. Wow. The pleasure has no price.

Ok for consoles, need to include a TV and a yearly online pass and it would need to be a 4K TV with 120Hz or otherwise it’s a waste of money and to fully utilize the console, you need a yearly subscription for it and that cost $120/year to just to play online. That’s $120/yearly is already more expensive than a keyboard mouse and controller combined and that’s just the CHEAPEST way to play online on a console and you have to keep paying it.

Cheap monitors already have at least 120hz refresh as standard vs need to pay a premium to even get that feature for TVs and now consoles are beginning to be more expensive.

first DVD player I ever bought was a philips for around $480 in 98 I think. My girlfriend laughed at me asking WTF is a DVD and why would anyone spend that kind of money on one. Well who's laughing now because on ebay you can get a DVD player for...
