What are you playing?

Trying out KCD. The game looks fantastic for such an old title, though it's really punishing for the cpu in certain areas. I was getting 45fps drops on 4070S at ultra high+max lod/object draw distance in the village, did some quick googling and it turns out even 10900k +5GHz is not enough for 60, let alone my stock 10700....
If anyone has this game installed, can you please confirm what cpu it takes for the game to stay at 60+ in these locations ?
the situation looks pretty bad even on latest hw, looks like it's more ram speed dependent than anything else.

Haven't played much of the game, but some games are just like that no matter the hardware you throw at them.

On my rig (sig) I'm getting fairly high frames. Above 100 fps but it does dip to 80 or so when looking at high particle things like smoke.

Scars Above I am in the middle of the game but can rate it 8/10, very good game.

Good to know! It’s 3 places down on my playlist.

Bluetooth controller. Should be some built-in controls.
I would but for the extra expense since I only use it for long haul, which is every couple of years. For me, the challenge is defeating the controls and gobbling up time on a 13 hour flight.
When I land on terra firma, I'll be back to my PC, but thatnks for the suggestion.

Dunno but I ran this on an 8700K @ 4.5Ghz and it was more than fine. Sure, some occasional hitching when the game loads scenes or story elements or when you enter a civilized area, but overall it was fine. I ran over 60 FPS with a GTX 1080 and 8700K. There's no way you can't run this on better hardware proper.

Might want to fine tune settings a bit, draw distance can't be the issue on its own.

Also, once you know what to look for... anytime the game needs to load a specific quest trigger and/or a trigger is accompanied by spawning in several NPC's, you will see it stutter briefly. This behaviour is worse in towns, of course, because the game's loading numerous NPCs but its also placing them in the day/night/week cycle wrt what events need to play out over time. That, and expensive particle effects like volumetric smoke are the big FPS killers - of which the latter is GPU, not CPU.

I'm sure there are options even cheaper than cost of two airport coffee.

yeah, that's probably it. I'm not turning it down tho, I'll just live with a few under-50 drops. it's a walking simulator anyway.
buy a horse, then it's a horseback sim ;)

How is it to use? Comfortable?

Picture from that overly popular online retailer. Was only provided as an example of keychain sized wireless controller to put in carry on bag something that doesn't require Lara's backpack.

If you're looking for a time waster and you enjoy city simulator types, TheoTown. Try it out!

I guess I'll have some more DIRT4 racing. I have DIRT5 on my Steam library as well, but as I haven't played this much, why not. I also play on my 2nd PC so 1080p60 it is, but I guess that the TV has some game mode optimizations since the solid 60fps feels surprisingly smooth.

I'm hella surprised that the feeling of my 30EUR third-party wired PS4 controller's analog sticks is probably the best I've had with any gamepad ever.

Not feeling Star Wars Outlaws. It’s bland and already feels like it will be a massive grind. I think I will stick to Blood West and Nobody Wants to Die.

Thanks for confirming Ubisoft is still Ubisoft, I was already skipping it but now I feel more confident :)

started gunslinger last night, this game is criminally underrated.

My 100% achievement stats before I called it a day, amazing game and its my GOTY.

I'm currently diving back into The Ascent, an outstanding title in the action RPG genre, and I can't recommend it highly enough—it's truly a must-play.

Yeah the DLC is a lot of filler nonsense I believe, bar one or two exceptions. End game is Void Crusades, and those are great, at the end of them its raining loot, no DLC missions come close.
Grabbed the main game before the sale ended.:)

I saw that the game has a Seasonal system and whatnot if you play online but for now I've decided to play offline since its my first char so I don't really need the extra stuff since I'm not even familiar with the base game.
I will say tho, the game's optimization leaves a lot to be desired but its what it is I guess. 'you would think a 12600KF and a 3060 Ti would eat this game for breakfast but apparently it doesn't so I had to tweak some stuff and look for answers online cause theres some really weird stuff going on regarding the performance and the smoothness feeling of the gameplay which is a known issue but it was never fixed.'

Also slowly progressing in Callisto Protocol since I only play such games at night for the better 'immersion' and the extra creepy factor cause I'm stupid like that. 'with a headset ofc'

I'm also playing the game with a controller for a change which might end up being a bad idea on my end.

Yup, that game is a lot of fun for sure and the art style still holds up imo.
Played and finished it ages ago when I've still had my GTX 950 so ye that wasn't recently.

I'm playing(in my 10 years old laptop) Colony siege.A TD with very good steam rating which is actually meh... :|

The game is buttery over here. 144 FPS out of combat, and 70-90 when it gets crowded. There are very rare hiccups but even they are too minor to worry about. Definitely part hardware...

Another part is just what most ARPGs have. Early game you are slow. Later you get faster, and then the game also feels more responsive. I've got some skill cooldowns to 0.28sec which is 3 attacks per second, and its a world of difference from the 0.50 base. Hunt for -% cooldown on all skill modifiers ;)

Enjoy, anyway, I think you'll like this :) The campaign missions, if you do them all, are pretty numerous. Story isn't all bad either. But its so long. I was level 55 or something when I was done with it all.
