Hi, a very disappointed user of ASUS X670-e Extreme here! i had problems with it from day 1! but i couldn't get the retailer to RMA it. Finally it died out and now the retailer has given me a choice to refund me 100% of its purchase price. The issue there is no other ASUS X670-e Extreme and i am out of good options! PS my whole PC is with ASUS peripherals.

Option 1: wait and get a new X870-e from ASUS (hero not extreme). Possibly wait time 40+ days!
-Open to that. negatives long waitgame

Option 2: get a different X670-e from MSI/GIGABYTE and keep 50% of the refund wait time
-Downgrade but i get a free PS5 pro

Option 3: get an old ASUS X670-e from another retailer and keep 100% refund. install it on my own
-Downgrade but remain within ASUS. get a PS5 pro and keep bigger size of the refund

Option 4: get a new X870-e from another retailer who will have it
and keep 100% refund. install it on my own
-Downgrade but remain within ASUS. get a PS5 pro and keep bigger size of the refund

Are there any choices than i can follow?

No point going X870E unless you want USB4/Thunderbolt 3 support.
I would just get any X670E board that tickles your fancy.

That's not proper USB4, that controller is limited to 32 Gbps vs 40 Gbps for the ASM4242.
It's also a PCIe 3.0 rather than a PCIe 4.0 controller, so you can only use one port at 32 Gbps, whereas the ASM4242 at least allows the second port to operate at 20 Gbps without any bottlenecks.

Wait for X870/E, maybe something changes in pc landscape between now and then.

If not, at least you get the latest board revision.

I would get the MSI X670E carbon or the Asus X670E E Strix. If you want USB 4.0 then get an X870 board. Just like your Extreme board both of the PCIe top slots on those 2 boards are connected to the CPU.

the retailer offered me the AORUS X670-e PRO which is the newest of the available MOBOs.
it is also white!
i think I will get this one.
PROS:
+ newest mobo for X670-e
+ good price
+ white color
+ enough USB and M2 ports
+ since it is provided by the retailer he has to install it professionally
+ immediate availability

CONS:
- small size for my rig! ATX i have big case
- Not ASUS so my ligthing rgb won't be same
- will miss out of X870e (but not new features)
-not many lighting effects
- have not tried gigabyte ever (but for this MOBO read good reviews)

As the situation stands i believe the PROs outweight the CONS!

I would agree if they currently had a working X670E motherboard, kind of a non-upgrade. However, ASUS X870E motherboard also have new RAM trace layouts that supposedly increase the frequency stability another 200+ MTs. So if your CPU can run it's IMC at 1:1 you will have a better chance of hitting 6200/6400/6600 RAM frequency. I'm not saying that's worth waiting a month for, but it's worth considering more so than additional USB4.

To the OP, I highly recommend the X670E-E Strix. I initially bought the Hero and had immediate regret, returned, and went with the Strix. The Hero only makes sense to me if you are running like 6 M.2 drives, plus it only has an x1 PCI-E slot through the chipset.

Typical Asus, milking customers outright. While I do love their boards from a technical standpoint, but the awful price gouge is just absurd.
