Old-new Toshiba U200 notebook.
My friend rescued it from the trash and gave me for free.
I took off the foil from the top!

12" 1280x800 (brightness is fine)
T5600, 512+2Gb ram (upgradable to 4Gb)
80Gb Toshiba HDD (i upgraded with an used 256gb low end ssd)
stock charger
Intel IGP
bluetooth, wifi, fingerprint reader, sd card reader, express card, dvd writer, firewire, 3 usd, dsub.....
Battery wear is just 6% according to aida64, and works for 2-3h!!!

It runs Win7 32bit very well, and with firefox it can be used for light browsing.
But is is not my taste, i much prefer the Dell Latitude/Precision with matte high res display in this era.

That seems like a laptop that I'd put Linux on to give it a sporting chance these days, like AntiX or MX Linux.

Very pleased with this recent pickup. This was the card that made me keen for a high end card, and while I first did that with a 6800 Ultra, this card really made me stop and go.... yeah GPU's are ****ing sick :rockout: :peace:

OMG I'm so in love with Leadtek card back in the day

I went to my parent house today and did some 'box diving' inside old stuff and I really forget about some of the things I bought...

This Crosshair II Formula is the first high end board I bought, when ROG means something. I hope it still boots....

I think I showed these two beauty before, its HIS IceQ HD 4850! I dunno what the condition of these two really, think I tried it once and it still works. Let's hope they still did

A box of floppy, on the right you can see my ugly faint writing of Win ME startup disc. I still remember those days, ME still gives me PTSD

What was your bad experience with it? I have a VAIO that I mentioned a few pages back on this thread that ran Windows Me for a while (I upgraded it to XP but am tempted to revert it back cuz XP is a bit slow) and I didn't really have any issues with it.

Kept blue screening and unable to boot Windows at all in about a few days time. It's something to do with system restore if I remember correctly.

Oof, that must've been rough. I suppose Windows Me was "Me"diocre at the best of times and horrible at the worst.

Not really PC hardware, but still an interesting piece...

One of the two MIPS R10000 CPUs running at 195 MHz, pulled from my old Silicon Graphics Octane workstation. Sadly, I didn't take photos of the dual-CPU carrier when I removed them some time ago.

For those who are wondering, it's about the size of a 486DX CPU in ceramic packaging.

Sad that some of these card is not working. Top left is 3D Blaster Voodoo Banshee (no display), top right is Powercolor X800XT PE (no display), MSI FX5500 256MB (working), ATi Radeon 9100 128MB (working)

Although FX cards have a bad reputation it makes a good pre DX9 games, and works well in Windows 98.

Did you shut off the System Restore after install? It's one of the things you need to do and why WinME was so misunderstood. That single "feature" was responsible for 90% of the issues it had. Also, remove(delete) Internet Explorer as it is very much less than stable and will crash the OS all by itself.

No I haven't. Gonna try that as I got nothing to lose. Gonna try and reinstall it. Thanks for the suggestion

Disable it right after the install finishes and before it has time to do anything. Disable it especially before installing drivers. Also, where drivers are concerned. If you have a choice between VXD based or WDM based drivers, always choose the WDM set. Trust me on that.

No, it wasn't. WinME was an excellent but very misunderstood OS.
Do you know why a CF card would stop working?Sadly it is one of the industrial ones by Transcend 32gb bought on eBay over a year ago.I suppose it is one of those things:(
