i use mobile phone as recovery, but somehow it looks not work anymore
I know why it is happening, Microsoft has bought Hotmail they want us to change over to Microsoft which you have to pay £1.95 a month for 365,And the way i have it now is i am permanently signed it.

What was your bad experience with it? I have a VAIO that I mentioned a few pages back on this thread that ran Windows Me for a while (I upgraded it to XP but am tempted to revert it back cuz XP is a bit slow) and I didn't really have any issues with it.
What modal Vaio do you have?I have one myself its got XP on it .It only had 256 of ram which i thought was not much for XP, i upped it to 512 and now want to put ME on a second drive,

I don,t know weather this works on all Floppys
Anyone tried this?o_O

It's a PCV-LX700 slim top with a 733 MHz Pentium 3 and 512 MB of ram. I got it for free at the Vintage Computer Festival Midwest in the Chicago area earlier this month.

Microsoft has owned Hotmail since 1997. Yes, MS would like for you to move to a pay account, but all they want with the notification you (& I) received is to enable two factor authentication. They either send a code to an alternate e-mail address or as a text to your phone. Hotmail isn't going away (or being changed to a pay service), they are just forcing everyone using it to be more secure with the login.

NICE!! That is an easily upgraded model. IIRC that has 3 RAM slots and each can hold 512MB PC133 DIMMs. Additionally, that CPU can be upgraded all the way to a P3 1ghz, or anything inbetween that runs on the 133FSB. Put an IDE to SD adapter in it and you will have a bangin' retro PC!

It is a very cool and unique PC; I remember getting a lot of compliments from other people at the convention. Mine only has two ram slots and each one is populated with a 256 MB stick. Not that I'm complaining, though; 512 MB is a ton for such a PC. Having plenty of i.LINK (1394) ports is quite handy for DV camcorders, too. I'm keeping the original 20 GB Seagate hard disk, though; I like the sound of old HDDs. I might put in a PCI GPU, too, if I can find one cheap.

Allow me to suggest a couple;
Geforce 6200 512MB, somewhat period correct and good performing match for that hardware.

Geforce 5200 256MB, also somewhat period correct.

Radeon 9200SE 64MB, period correct good performance.

Radeon 7000 32MB, very period correct and reasonable price.

Additionally, that Geforce 6200 was one of the last cards to get Windows 9X support;

Here's the 3DMark99 score with the iGPU, a SiS 630:

I have a GeForce 6200 PCI, it's just in a different PC. I might try using that and seeing what kind of score I get. Honestly, I'm a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to old hardware. If I were to buy something, I'd want it to be less than $15.

Found an Asus Z170-K, i5-6600K & GTX 960 4GB from the trash bin. Currently installing Win10 for that and need to check does the GPU work in 3D.

Sucks that the board doesn't have pins for TPM module, that could be a good media PC platform, though I guess that I'll just bypass the requirements for Win11.

Yup, found all them from the trash. It had a 6600K preinstalled, most likely its previous owner's combo since day one. The pins were in perfect shape and the GPU's cooler was never removed.

Still installing Windows updates since I don't have a spare SSD so I need to use a HDD, hella slow progress..

It surprises me and yet it doesn't surprise me of the amount of computer hardware that people toss out without realizing that said hardware could be useful to someone. I once ran across a Dell XPS 410 desktop from 2007 with a Core2 Duo that someone had put on the curb for oversize garbage. It was easy to see why someone would throw it out; it was artifacting and one of the hard drives was clicking. Aside from a failing GPU (a GeForce 7900 GS I think) and a bad hard disk (it had two), everything else worked completely fine. I found a replacement GPU (an HD 6850), a cheap 120 GB SSD, and a Core2 Quad Q6700 and was able to sell it for $60 US locally. I got good use out of that PC and I'm sure the person who bought it did too; he told me that two of his other laptops were refusing to boot and he just needed a PC.

Doesn't surprise me much. A lot of people are thoughtless slugs that often fail to see the big picture. The ones that do have a reasonable amount of sense are often ignorant to certain perspectives for reusablities & such things and thus end up doing much the same as the others.

Well, I started at around 2 or 3 PM, and have been going since. Most of them didn't have much to fix:

- ABIT BH6 - someone lost the original BIOS chip, and the fellow that sent me the board mistook a MXIC 29F001TQC BIOS chip as 2Mbit, when it was 1Mbit. I dropped a Winbond W49F002 off a dead Syntax mobo, flashed with the SS BIOS, and all is well. I might try a similar approach with a FIC PA-2013 I recently got that won't work properly.

- Azza PT-5VMD - works although spotty. Might need a recap. This one had missing BIOS IC, reflashed one from a dead DFI K6BV3.

- ABIT AB9 Pro - nothing wrong with it except I think it doesn't take E6xxx C2Ds with the original BIOS it ships with. I had to use a P4 631 to get it running.

- HP OEM i815 mobo - also nothing wrong with it, autostarts for whatever reason but I don't really mind.

- LS 6VA694 - had a dead SL52R (post card would get stuck with 4 dashes). Dropped my test SL5DV chip, POST'd without issues, has the funny PhoenixNET BIOS interface.

- Intel D815EEA - had a dead Celeron as well (SL5XT). Also POST'd once I replaced the CPU with my test SL5DV.

- GA-6VA - no POST unfortunately, only 4 dashes. Nothing out of the ordinary getting excessively hot on the mainboard.

- DFI P2BLX - POSTs fine after flashing a 1Mbit BIOS chip. Needs a recap as all Tayeh 1000uF caps are blown.

- Soltek 65LIV-T - needs a BIOS reflash, mismatched chip which I suspect is the original BIOS for the 6VA.

- MSI is still untested.

Local classifieds and a few trades with a member from another forum. I also got the K7 Pro/T-Bird 700 combo and Gigabyte 7VR from him. In this case I traded my Soyo 6BA+IV, a QDI Legend 5 (P6I440LX), ABIT NF7 v2 w/o SATA, Chaintech 7NJL6, ASUS CUSL2 and a DFI CS65+Tualatin 1200 combo.

Doesn't surprise me much. A lot of people are thoughtless slugs that often fail to see the big picture. The ones that do have a reasonable amount of sense are often ignorant to certain perspectives for reusablities & such things and thus end up doing much the same as the others.
My best guess is that some are simply too lazy for selling their old stuff so they just throw them out.
