Can't upgrade Ubuntu version

I think it's because there's some conflict with the dependencies, but i've been unable to fix it myself, hence this post.

Take a look @ these two pics:

It says "libssl3" is not the newest version but, when i try to upgrade it, it says it depends on "libc6", which is ALREADY the newest version, despite it saying it's not.

So ... something's amiss ... but i don't know what, nor how to fix it.


I'm not 100% certain but, whenever i attempt to upgrade my current Ubuntu (20.04.6 LTS), it does nothing and I THINK it's because of this dependencies issue.

Try "sudo apt install libc6-dev". Apparantly your LTS is so out of date that it doesn't even get debian-stable packages. Maybe the dev-version is recent enough.

I'd consider upgrading to Ubuntu 22.

I do "sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade && sudo apt dist-upgrade && sudo apt autoclean && sudo apt autoremove" multiple times per week.

When i try to upgrade to version 22, it does nothing.

I think i need to fix the dependencies issue BEFORE upgrading, but dunno how to fix this.

Annoying. Try downloading the package from debian.org https://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/libc6/download

And installing it manually with

sudo apt install -f /path/to/package/libc6_2.40-3_amd64.deb
