I'm not that guy so 100 FPS isn't that big of an issue, especially considering how often I play this game.

However, it's still very peculiar to put it mildly.

I have an RX 6700 XT, W10, 24.8.1 WHQL drivers (behaviour doesn't alter if I install other drivers, yet I didn't test anything older than those of April '23), the rest of my system is marked as "DLSS" in my SysSpecs.

I selected "vsync always off" and made my display run at 150 Hz (at 170, I have intermittent stutter issues, thanks AMD big time for your FLAWLESS work!) and no matter the other settings, the game is hard capped to 100 FPS. Or less, if I cap it to a lesser number manually. MSi Afterburner is the only 3rd party software possibly capable of wrongdoings but the behaviour remains the same sans it.

My only question is WHY.

Because the game is capped to 100 by the engine. If you ask “Why did the developers do this?” I don’t think there is a definitive answer. But there is a fan patch to unlock the framerate, so hey ho:

Edit: Or it used to work, apparently there was some update to the game relatively recently that broke it. No idea why or how.

Okay, thanks.

Will cap it to 91 just because screw "ideal" numbers.

Use lossless scaling FrameGen 2x when a game is hard-capped to 30-60+<100 FPS (especially 30-60 range btw) it renders those all smoother.

Paying for more FPS in an ancient game I almost never play... Sorry, not that minted.

Nonono, it's not more FPS, but more smoothness, especially from 30 FPS hard-capped games btw. 60 FPS is bad IMO, but it starts to be perfect at 90 FPS, then 120 is perfection, above is confort but not that much an improvement.

The game is smooth enough even at 60. Doesn't get much better after reaching about 85. It's capped to 100. There's no real damage, I was just lowkey curious.

Once again, paying for more is not on my menu. I'm barely affording myself a proper diet as of late. A lot of unsold old hardware is a real issue, I'd say.

What are you going to gain in such an old game running more than 100FPS? if you have a VRR/FreeSync monitor, 100FPS at 150/170Hz should be perfectly fine and smooth, heck a lot of games had FPS limits back in the day, not to mention no widescreen support etc I highly doubt there will be any perceived benefit going from 100FPS to 150 besides the pacebo effect, some old games ran like shit and had limits we don't have today in the world of 4K and super high FPS but that's ok...

Just a nice number on my screen. That's not the point, you don't need to be toxic about it.

I was curious why 100 and what exactly breaks if you go above that in this particular title.

Not being toxic, clearly you have never played FO4 or TES both capped at a measly 60FPS or console games at 30FPS etc

I'm sorry i can't, it's 90+ or i don't stay, i also never liked 3D before it became verry good, like 2015+, and always prefered 2D bc of that, with few exceptions like MGS1, Rival Schools.

No idea what made you think like that. I literally have thousands of hours in FO3, FONV, FO4, and also Cyberpunk 2077 at <=60 FPS. Possibly more than 10 thousand hours combined. Only bought my gaming panel 10 days ago, was using 60...75 Hz displays all the time before that.

My interest is purely academical. I am OKAY with it running at 100 FPS, it's fine, I don't expect much from an ancient game. Only wanted to know the exact why. That's all.

So sad you can't enjoy iconic gaming experiences throughout the years which have shaped modern gaming to the point now you are just a gaming snob, no 100+ FPS/4K/RT/etc etc then not interested, some of the best games I have ever played were likely at 720p or maybe even lower, 60FPS and/or LOWER and had an absolute blast, I bet you're a pixel peeper as well, ohhhhh look at the shimmering/artifacts/low res :kookoo: you are however the ideal NVIDIA sheeple, the more you buy the more you save!!!

Look for a mod, it will make 0 difference, my examples were for comparison, did you wonder why those other titles were capped and you couldn't run over the games limitations? I don't see the point in your OP is all, it's a game/engine limitation set by the dev, not an isolated incident

I left live in Africa for 10 years, i play now at 1440p, i hate 4k, lock my 240hz to 120 FPS, and you're obsiously toxic when you are addressing people or are you being ironic, but you more llook like serious, so.

30-60-120 FPS lock has sense, 100 is pure nonsense there is no 100hz screen in this world, except one or two but not for PCs.

Well, don't expect see me in my whole life play FlatOut anyway.

Just going off what you said? why you getting emotional? so you hate anything pre 2015 and less than 90FPS, obviously young and never experienced gaming in the early 00's on less than capable HW, tweaking, overclocking, trying to squeeze every last bit of performance out of your HW to play a game, is fine, I mean people don't know what they have today compared to 15-20 years ago lol now I am sounding like a bitter old man, I am :nutkick:
