Why the hell do they have the Windows Insider Program, early access releases and beta testers?? Why??
The richest company in the world and one of the most incompetent. How is this even possible??
They been snacking on the Apeel coated GMO fruit and snacks in the lunch room. Perhaps.

And this is why i'm still on Windows 10.

Every single week there is another post about Windows 11 like this.
Sure, if you never get software updates, you'll never have a problem. That is, until you get hit with a vulnerability that hasn't been patched because you never get updates.

Sometimes, when you update software, shit breaks.

Not only that, they do not force updates to all computers everywhere at once. Admins are empowered to take updates at their own pace.

M$ have a weird definition of "pull". I'm still offered this update (optional cumulative preview) and not touching it, of course.

I do want to move to Windows 11, because well, have to eventually.

Perhaps sometime early next year once this 24H2 update has been ironed out. I want to do a clean install as well, no upgrade of my current Windows 10 install.

Rule of thumb: with Windows, skip every 2nd iteration.
Microsoft surely want's to play tricks on your mind by skipping certain numbers but don't you get fooled.

Windows XP,
Windows Vista,
Windows 7
Windows 8
Windows 10
Windows 11
Linux

By the way, Valve started to work directly with Archlinux developers few days ago.

Mix NVME, PCIe and USB together and this is what you get lol.

2025 will be the year of Linux desktop (moto since the 90')
Someone needs to write a hook for GOG into the Steam Deck OS.

This is flat out wrong. A tech myth at it's worst.

Many have said that and have been saying that for decades. All have been wrong. Now if we're talking about mobile, the year of Linux happened when Android overtook Windows in number of devices in use worldwide, which was 2017 IIRC.

I do the opposite I defer updates, cant understand why someone would want this early on machines they use for stuff, useful for people managing machines to test first on dummy devices though.

That is not a solution though as every October all of those updates you deferred will be installed.

Generally they will be fixed or pulled by the time the defer period comes round. Also as lex said I can hide updates I want to opt out off.

So here we go. This morning I had to go into work so no late night Gaming. That put my PC to sleep by the time I woke up. I woke up to check and found that my display seemed a little pale. I use AMD settings to turn the Contrast and Saturation past 80 with the brightness around 45. I open AMD software to check and there is no evidence of my 7900XT (The exact same thing happened the last time it went to sleep too) OK so I reinstalled AMD software and nothing changed. When I got home this afternoon I did a Factory reset in AMD software and nothing changed. I used DDU and the only card that was listed was the IGPU. It still cleaned it up but when I rebooted and reinstalled AMD software it uninstalled AMD software before it installed it again. I used DDU though so that has never happened. I have never had DDU not remove everything before. Could it be this Windows update with it's automatic AMD drivers combined with AI? No I do not have Co-Pilot enabled. Data can stay on Star Trek.

Are you remembering to disable automatic Driver updates?

If Windows is autoupdating your driver package behind your back, it'll screw things up. Frequently does.

Also, change group policy option for Windows Update to not enable drivers to be delivered through automatic updates.
This caused a lot of problems with particular sound cards back then, Windows was delivering drivers through auto updates.
