Re-installed W11, undervolting no longer works?

Good afternoon all,

I have been scouring the net all afternoon and I can't see to figure this out. I have the 14900hx and up until a few days ago undervolting was working just fine. I have the Alienware M18R2, and I have the undervolt BIOS unlock done, have since I got it. Core isolation is off, all settings are off....

I did get it working by going into the BIOS and disabling Intel Virtualization, great! but my performance tanked.....like TimeSpy went from 21,500 down to 16,000.....not so great. Turning it back on seems to have put it back to normal. What I don't get is I have never had to turn this off before, so why was it working before?

Undervolt protection is off, as can be seen here....

I am at a complete loss here for what has magically changed and I am open to ideas / comments.

There was a BIOS update last week, which I have already rolled back thinking that maybe that changed something, but no dice. I even rechecked the BIOS to make sure that it didn't re-enable the lock, but it's off.

Exit ThrottleStop, delete the ThrottleStop.INI configuration file and shut down your computer. Not just a restart. Power it off.

When virtualization was enabled, some bad settings got accidentally saved to the ThrottleStop.INI file. The super low IccMax value would likely be causing a lot of throttling which is the reason your benchmark scores have tanked.

After you start back up, post a new screenshot of the FIVR window. When ThrottleStop is working correctly, you will not be seeing a column of low ball voltage values in the FIVR monitoring table.

I am not sure why you need to disable virtualization in the BIOS now if you did not need to do that before. Windows Updates are always like a game of Russian roulette.

That seems to have done it! I guess not doing the full shutdown had something to do with it? These are just numbers I tossed in there, I have to fine tune again, but it's working and the performance didn't tank this time.

Thank you for the assist! Time to disable fast startup again...so many problems it causes.

Windows Updates are always like a game of Russian roulette.
Tell me about it , always something new they like to break on us.

Appreciate your assistance !

I have a similar issue. I just reinstalled Windows again, from a fresh install. However I installed the new Windows 11 24H2.

Before I reinstall I take some screenshots to remember my undervolt values in case I need to do it again. I just backup my ThrottleStop folder and when start the program I saw the the undervolt wasn't being applied. I had the core isolation turned off and some features off in windows feature (virtual machine, hypervision...) The same as the user showed above.

I also follow this guide to Disabling VBS, changing EnableVirtualizationBasedSecurity to 0 in Windows's Register:

But undervolt still not being applied. So I came to this post and I saw your suggestion. I did exactly what you said, exit throttle stop, delete the .ini file and shut down my laptop.

However I can see still won't work because the values in turbo ratio limits are crazy. Also, I realize there's something off. The voltage, VCCIN, Cache Ratio and IccMax values are different from my screenshot backup and I have never touched these settings before. Just offset voltage in CPU Core and CPU Cache as usual.

Before reinstall Windows.

After reinstall Windows and delete the ini. file.

Last, in my screenshot backup I can see the option V-Max Stress is checked. I don't remember checking this option before, I thought this already came enabled by default. Should I keep this enabled?

Please, could help me understand what happened and what could I do to enable undervolt? If it's possible to do in Windows 11 24H2. Thanks

EDIT:

Just realized that I have Intel Virtual Technology enabled in BIOS, should I also turn it off?

That is what I would do.

When there are lots of weird numbers in the FIVR window, virtualization must still be enabled.

I've got the same problem with my laptop I just install win 11 24h2 a few hours ago, but for me the solution were disabling this 3 options on defender first, then edited the key that the Microsoft post says. finally I power off an power on the pc, the program work normally now I can undervolt again maybe trying again will work for you. sorry for if my English writing level is poor.
