SPECS:
5800X3D
Windows 11 Home
RX 7900XT Latest Drivers
32GB DDR4-3200
RM750X power supply
All temps nice and cool and within specification. I've also run up higher power loads than this in synthetic CPU+GPU testing so no, it's not the power supply.

Anyway,
I'm not sure why it does this. I've gout about 30 hours in the game and it's only ever done it twice, both while riding the boat in Vanaheim. No temps are out of spec, no driver timeout, game just feezes up and crashes.
I have two event viewer logs from the time of the most recent crash:

GOWcrash1.jpg.c47cf0f85a0ff07addbc73d093cc2e81.jpg

It seems to be relating to the game's GoWR.exe as well as whatever "CoremessagingXP.dll" is. But they seem to kick the bucket every once in a blue moon. I'd just like to understand why. There are no other event viewer / hardware logs around that time that are relevant anyway.

New game, send dev your crash report with system specs. Willing to bet it happening in the same spot is of more worth to them than it could be to us.
With exception of Windows 11 Home. Reasonable to think it contributes to issues on any build that goes beyond small amounts of internet use.

Not sure what you mean by UWP but it's a fully licensed windows 11 upgraded from a windows 10 key I bought directly from MS about 4 years ago.

As I mentioned in the second part of my one sentence.

Anyway; you can try lowering your ram speed.

Righto. So just chalk it up to it being a new game and get on with life? I have a tendency to worry that it's my PC when games crash but often that isn't true. Usually she's a pretty stable build.

As I mentioned in the second part of my one sentence.

Yeah sorry I just woke up, things are a bit foggy. Should be easy enough to lower my RAM speed, maybe to 3000, although whether or not it'll crash again before I finish the game is another story. We averaging about 30 hours per crash in GOWR so who knows when it might show up again.

tbh if its that long im not super convinced its your rig. I agree w/ @nomdeplume this is probably a nothing burger. I only care about steam so the windows store was just a hunch mostly because the .dll at fault is relied upon by many UWP applications. and as such is indicative of corruption or/and hw instability. w/ file corruption antagonized by ram or disk failure, with ram being the most likely.

Interesting. I used to occasionally get issues show up on SFC but they got fixed in the same sweep, but for the last month or so (which is coincidentally when I've been playing GOWR) the odd SFC check I've run has always been clean.
